transgender New Year's resolutions

Happy New Year, girlfriend!

Are you as psyched about 2012 as I am? I’ve got loads of exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to tell you about!

What about you? Have you thought about your FEMME intentions for 2012? This is a perfect time to think about how you want to honor and express your femininity this year.

But let’s face it – most resolutions fail. That’s why I’d like to share 3 tips for setting feminine intentions that you’ll actually keep:

1. Set intentions, not resolutions.

When I hear the word “resolution”, I immediately think of all the times I fell off my New Year’s diet or failed at some other goal. Ugh.

So rather than setting resolutions, I now set intentions. An intention is literally an “aim that guides action”. Intentions are more flexible than resolutions and don’t make you feel like a failure if you fall off track every now and then.

My own intentions for 2012 are: to express more gratitude, to get out of my comfort zone more often, and to take great care of my body.

What are yours?

2. Don’t set more than 3 intentions.

FOCUS is the key to accomplishing anything, including your feminine intentions. That’s why I suggest limiting yourself to 3 intentions max.

Wouldn’t it be great to accomplish a few important goals – whether it’s mastering feminine communication, creating a fund for transition, having daily girl time, etc. – instead of looking back at a bunch of half-completed goals next year?

3. Create a reminder system.

It’s easy to set intentions and then forget about them. The trick is to create a daily or weekly reminder system that will help you stick with your goals. Here are some ideas:

  • Post your intentions in a place where you’ll see them often (the fridge, bathroom mirror, bulletin board, etc.).
  • Write your intentions on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet.
  • Set up popup or email reminders in Google Calendar.
  • Install a reminder app on your iPhone.

I’d love to hear about your FEMME intentions for 2012, so please share them with me below! :-)

Wishing you a year full of girly joys and wondrous surprises!

Love,
Lucille

I am saving up to complete a course in facial/beard electrolysis which I started last summer and I hope to rejoin our local Health Authority care programm for transgendered people later in the year when I have completely changed my ID and can show prove to the Health Service that this has been the case.
I shall hope to be able to buy into your services too, lucille!xx

  3. Crystal Lin says:

My intention this year is to pass as a woman when I attend events such as S.F. Gay Pride Parade. I am critical of how I look and I feel that even with the help of a make up specialist at a transgender store or other females putting on my makeup, I still see myself as a “man in drag”.

  4. Deenah says:

I really suck at makeup so thats one thing I need to work on.Also I want to drop another5-6 lbs…and grow out my hair again,i so miss my long hair…

  5. Pamala Monroe says:

My intentions for the new year are to move back to Reno and start a transformation shop, with storage lockers, and also have an escort service for shopping and clubbing. Would also have a big enough house to run a bed and breakfast for visiting gurls that way gurls from Sacremento and other close towns can come over and not worry about being seen by someone they know!!

    • Jennifer says:

      Pamala -

I am a frequent visitor to Reno and usually stay for a week and spend the entire time as a woman. I truly miss the Hidden Woman where I would always have a makeover and spend a lot of time just chatting. If you do open a shop in Reno please let me know and I will certainly visit it.

  6. Melissa says:

I have one intention (which in reality branches into many – more than I could count). My intention is to finally be me. I have spent far too many years trying to squish, hide, or otherwise deny myself what amounts to simple basic happiness and comfort in order to try and please everyone else and live up to their expectations (which, by the way, I’ve failed miserably at). I just can’t do it anymore. It sounds selfish – even to me – but it’s my turn. I’ve wasted over 40 years trying to be what everyone else wants me to be and have missed out on so much as a result. I just want to know what it’s like to be truly happy.

i did the exact same thing for 40+ years, started transition at 48 – i’m now 57yo and never been happier. hope you find your happy place very early in your transition, mine came about 6 months into the process and never left me again.

  9. Deana T-girl says:

I have lost more weight …68 kilo’s is my weight now…want to get down to 66 kilo’s an buy one or more corset’s to get a slimmer waistline

  10. Gen says:

    Stacey,
Your voice – for little money (or none). Simple tip, for a starting point: try to make middle C your lowest base starting point for your voice. Once you have that down, go one note higher. It is a start, anyway. Its where I am at just now.
Also try to make the voice smoother and use “breathiness” yet with very clear consonants. Don’t mumble. I mumble and I hate it. I need to stop it.
By the way, what a lovely photo, she said jealously.
    Hugs, Gen

    • Stacey says:

      Hey Gen,
Thank you so much. I already went online looking for help on hitting those notes and getting that breathy voice. Thank you again. As for my photo. It takes a lot of work to look as feminine as possible. I got down the makeup with lots of practice, just need the voice now.
      Hugs, Stace

  11. Stacey says:

I have taken so many great steps in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and have learned an unbelieveable amount from Lucille’s web pages. I have learned so much about applying makeup and improving 110%. The only problem I have is once I open my mouth and speak, it ruins the female persona. I really want to feminize my voice and hope to at least achieve a deep feminine voice. What is the best way to get that fem voice without emptying my savings account.
