The Top 3 Beard Concealers

Your best bet is to get rid of your beard through laser hair removal or electrolysis. If you can’t do that you’ll need a close shave and a good concealer.
There are a lot of options out there, but here are the top 3 beard concealers I recommend:
1. Dermablend Cover Crème
The “mother” of all beard covers and a TG favorite, Dermablend Cover Crème ($32) is heavy enough to cover scars, tattoos, bruises, and beard shadows. On the down side, it’s very thick and can look cakey. Dermablend is best for evenings or low light situations when you can get away with heavy makeup.
2. MAC Full Coverage Foundation
MAC Full Coverage Foundation ($26) is another TG favorite. It’s a cake foundation that offers great coverage and is used by pros for beauty photography. The MAC foundation is lighter than Dermablend, so it looks more natural.

3. Colortration
Colortration Super Concealing Liquid Makeup ($37) is another great option for covering your beard shadow. In fact, many girls swear by it. Colortration is a highly concentrated liquid concealer, so it goes on smoother and looks more natural than crème covers.

No matter which concealer you use, keep these two things in mind:
- Pat (don’t rub!) the concealer on.
- Apply powder between concealer layers.

I don’t have much money and I need to find an inexpensive way of perment face and chest hair removal. Have any of you girl found an inexpensive way of doing that. I found of a protect call hair no more I was wondering if any one has tried it, and if you had does it do a desent job. If it doesn’t can you tell if you know of any other way to get rid of my facial and chest hair, that doesn’t cost too much?
Hi Lucille! I don’t have a beard left due to electrolysis; however, something that I Love to use a lot that matches my skin perfectly is “Sue Devitt” Tripple C-Weed Whipped Foundation (oil-free)” and “Tripple C-Weed Pressed Powder (concealer).” To apply them, I use a foundation brush and a brush for the concealer. I add the concealer on in between layers, and after I get my face looking nice and smooth, I put on lip gloss, then Revlon lip stick. This seems to do the trick for me, and has me always looking fabulous. Oh, and if I go out in the day time, I apply a sun block underneath the foundation. I purchased all the above listed products from ULTA. The foundation runs about $40, and the concealer is about $28, but totally worth the money.

I’m fortunate in having vurtually no beard! But what I do have (can’t call it a beard really) I’ve had IPL on, which has helped both skin rejuvenation and retard hair growth. I want to have another set of sessions when I can afford it to hopefully slow down (stop?) growth even more.
I’m not sure if you’ve covered this subject before, but some thoughts and opinions would be welcome.

i wax my face to remove my beard i am looking into laser. my question is being a male how can i make my face look sleek or thinner similar to a natural females face.
Here is how I do it: First start with a VERY close shave (use a blade instead of an electric, at least for the final pass). Then use Ben-Nye Beard concealer (I don’t have it in front of me – I think it’s FS1 or FS3) over any place your beard grows. This stuff has an orangy color that will help neutralize the blue-black beard shadow that just always seems to show through. Next, powder over that and then apply your regular foundation and go from there. For me, this technique even works when using a powder foundation such as Bare Minerals. I personally don’t have a really heavy beard – though what I do have is dark, and this method lets me go out without feeling like I’m wearing a latex mask. YMMV, but by using the neutralizing concealer first, an overly heavy foundation isn’t necessarily required.

My favorite is Covermark, that was recommended to me by Muriel Olyve that ran Femme Fashions in NYC. Muriel was hired as a consultant for the Tootsie movie. She was a very gracious and caring GG who ran a Park Avenue foundations shop and eventually opened a separate TG boutique. She was one of the early day classics. Old school fashion glamour.

@Josie – the one thing to watch out for with clown white is that it REALLY shows through in flash photography. Take a picture of four or 5 t-girls standing together, and you can always pick out who has clown white on. Outside of that, I know people who swear by it.

Another good alternative is Ben Nye, which is theatrical makeup (but every town has a theater-supply store, or you can get it online). They do several shades of Mellow Orange (and Mellow Yellow) which counteract even the darkest beard shadow. Apply that lightly then cover with a liquid foundation, and you’re all set for the day!

I have been using makeup forever or vichy lately, and the translucent powder to finish off. Both are excellent products.
Before the foundation, I use the Estee Lauder product called Idealist, it makes my face look smooth and radiant (shrinks pores) and I also use their moisturiser.

Believe it or not, I have come to swear by Physicians Formula concealer. It is reasonably inexpensive and covers quite well without being thick or feeling like stage makeup.

As a frenchie, I buy what I can find. I use regularly “CACHE-BARBE” from Make Up For Ever-2 tints-Both can be mixed as I wish, depending Day or Artificial light, and season.
I shall certainly try COLORTRATION, if I can obtain it…

Like Vicki, I use Revlon Color Stay, but I put it to the test almost daily! It lasts all day long. I prefer the “Action Sports” line of Color Stay… it stays put even when I go to the gym and work up a sweat! Best of all, it is available almost everywhere and costs about half the price of the brands reviewed!

try Max Factor — PAN STICK … goes on fairly thick — spread , and pat in setting powder in the colour of choice — blend –total coverage — 12 hours
+ ………. amazing stuff — i use pan stick 121 , with medium shade powder to blend with — then lighter under the eyes & on bridge of nose — add blush – andaway you go for the next 12 hours — PAN STICK is also a fav with Drag Queens , for coverage ability…………………….. Kelly Ann, Canada
I have had my beard removed via electrolysis about 15 years ago. I use MAC talc as my makeup since it is very good at keeping my oily patches on my nose and forehead under control. It also does a very good job of blending any irregularities in my complection.
I use a standard concealer as a beard cover. It’s inexpensive, I’m going to use it anyway and it works really well for me. I’ve been going thru laser hair removal for over a year and my beard is mostly gone now so it works great for me. If I still had a heavy beard growth I’d have to try one of the more expensive kinds.
I’ve used Dermablend successfully for many years, but was looking for something lighter for casusal use . I like to go out for a couple of hours near my home in the suburbs, I dress casual and want to look very natural. I’ve found Revlon Color Stay make-up to be excellent. It doesn’t ever come off on your clothes which is a key issue as far as I am concerned. It hides what you need to hide, and serves as foundation as well. It is quick and easy, doesn’t require powdering, unless you prefer to.
They also make a lipstick that stays and stays and stays even when you are eating things like salad. For all day wear, yes dermablend is the way to go….for four hours or less Color stay works as long as you got a nice close shave to begin with…I recommend the Gillette fusion for that.
