Your hair is a big part of your female image. While feminine hair is typically associated with long hair, short hair can also look cute, fun, and sexy!
There are lots of reasons why transgender women and crossdressers might opt for a shorter hairstyle. For one thing, short hair is practical and low-maintenance. It also makes a bold fashion statement!
Now obviously, shorter hairstyles can lean towards a more masculine look. However, with the right cut and styling, MTF short hairstyles can look chic and feminine.
In this blog, I’ll share my top 3 tips for feminizing short hair. Read on to learn more!
3 Tips for Feminizing MTF Short Hairstyles
1. Get a cute haircut
The first thing you need is a great haircut that can be styled in different ways. Choppy layered styles are fashionable and look great in both male and female modes.
Ask your hairstylist to show you different options for styling your hair. Layers that are swept towards the face are very feminine and flattering. Curls are another great, girly option.
2. Try a hair accessory
Transgender women with short hair look fantastic with barrettes and headbands, so this is an easy way to feminize a short haircut.
You can wear hair accessories at any age, but choose something appropriate. Stay away from girly bows or headbands after age 30. Instead, go for something sophisticated like a beautiful barrette or a pretty flower for your hair.
3. Wear a hat
Hats are a great fashion accessory. They make a bold fashion statement and add a touch of sophistication to any outfit.
Hats also offer an easy way to feminize your hairstyle. In fact, you don’t even have to do your hair! Just throw on a pretty hat and you’re good to go.
Be sure to consider the season when selecting a hat. That means you’ll want to avoid knit hats in the summer and straw hats in the winter. Felt hats can be worn year round except for during the hottest months.

Which as thickened up and it grows pretty rapidly too.
I wear my hair at shoulder lenth and vary it’s style my hair colour is dark brown

Great to hear about the fenugreek. Saw palmetto is also effective for thinning hair, especially if you combine saw palmetto herbs with saw palmetto shampoo.
First i will thank you for your lovely site and for the wonderfull advices and tips you give us.
When Im feminine I allways wear wigs and they always long and past my shoulders.

Hi Lucille & Everyone my hair is ashe blond, bob style, sometimes I wear it flicked out as in the photo but at the moment it is curled under with a nice wave over my right eye. I recently bought a lovely spring/summer outfit very much in reds, navy + other colours & occasionally wear a red poppy with little black stamens in the centre which goes really well with everything.

i like my hair long aand wanting to grow it longer. would love style help
Hi Lucille
My Hair is long and past my shoulders. I think a beautiful hair clip with pink colours in it would look very pretty in my hair. I am sorry that I don’t have a picture of my face that I can send you, however, some day I might be able to send one.

I grow my hair to donate to Locvks O’ Love. Currently it is about 10″ long, which is the minimum they will accept. My cuter refuses to do anything other than snip the split ends untill I have at least 13″. He says he wants to have at least three inches to work with when he cuts it. After it is cut, I will have a “man” haircut, but have a couple of medium lebngth (between chin and shoulder) that I will use until my own hair is once again long enough. The photo was taken this past January, and is my natural hair.
Hi Lucille,
Like most, I love wearing long hair, but I find medium to short styles more flattering and certainly easier to keep nice!!
The photos were taken about 12 months ago, but I still wear all of these styles.
Thanks Lucille,
Hugs
