Choosing the right perfume is a key part of expressing yourself as a woman. Scent is strongly linked to emotions – and the right perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine.
But how do you find that perfect feminizing scent? I’m glad you asked!
In this blog post, written specifically for crossdressers and transgender women, I’ll guide you through various perfume scents and the impressions they create.
By the end, you’ll be able to confidently pick a perfume that matches your unique style and enhances your femininity.
Floral Perfumes
Floral perfumes are created using the scent of a single flower, such as lavender, rose, gardenia, or geranium, or a combination of multiple flowers.
These fragrances are particularly suitable for crossdressers and transgender women since they are the most feminine of fragrances. Wear a floral perfume when you want to express your soft, romantic side.
Examples of floral perfumes include:
- Daisy by Marc Jacobs
- Estée Lauder White Linen
- Dior J’Adore
- Stella by Stella McCartney
- Kenzo Flower by Kenzo
- L‘Air du Temps by Nina Ricci
Fruity Perfumes
Fruity perfumes contain citrus scents, such as lemon, grapefruit, strawberry, peach, kiwi, etc.
With their fresh and youthful character, fruity perfumes are an excellent choice when you desire to feel confident and energetic.
Examples of fruity perfumes include:
- L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani
- Cartier Eau de Cartier
- Sun Flowers by Elizabeth Arden
- Beautiful Sheer by Estée Lauder
- DKNY by Donna Karan
- Emporio White by Giorgio Armani
Fresh Perfumes
Fresh perfumes, also known as green scents, are light and airy, evoking notes of grass, green leaves, and the ocean.
Energetic and rejuvenating, fresh perfumes are perfect for when you’re “en femme” as they elevate your mood and create a comforting atmosphere.
Examples of fresh perfumes include:
- J.Lo Glow by Jennifer Lopez
- Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden
- Diorissimo, Dune by Christian Dior
- Bond No. 9
- Safari by Ralph Lauren
Oriental Perfumes
Oriental perfumes emanate a rich and dramatic aura, blending scents of spices, musk, vanilla, and intense flowers.
These perfumes exude a sexy and sophisticated allure. Just remember to opt for a lighter fragrance, as oriental perfumes can lean towards the masculine side.
Examples of oriental perfumes include:
- Dior Addict
- Lancome Attraction
- Opium by Yves Saint Laurent
- Samsara by Guerlain
- Lalique Perfume by Lalique
- Sun Moon & Stars by Karl Lagerfeld
Woody Perfumes
Woody perfumes are heavy and dramatic and incorporate scents like sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar.
While woody perfumes are sensual and exotic, they lean more towards the masculine spectrum of fragrances. Hence, you may want to avoid this particular type.
Examples of woody perfumes include:
- Passion by Elizabeth Taylor
- Escada by Escada
- Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker
- Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan
- Habanita by Molinard
- Givenchy Organza

Keep these guidelines in mind – but remember, the most important criteria for choosing a perfume is how beautiful and feminine it makes YOU feel!

Like Francine, I like, wear White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. A lady who lived with me a couple years, that’s what she wore. I started using hers, but when we split up, had to buy my own. Haven’t tried others.
But what I miss, is the White Diamonds used to come in a set that had the same smelling perfumed soap and it doesn’t seem to be available now.
Like Jim I wear White Diamonds. The lady I learned from used the scented body powder and lotion which is still on the market. Like her I try to achieve a scented presence that is apparent only when one is in my private space. Just perfume can create overpowering “hot spots”.
Lucille, this is a great topic–do you recommend putting perfume on wigs?
My fav and only cologne and powder I wear when I want to feel feminine and sexy is “Exclamation !”
My fave is L’Air Du Temps, and always get compliments when out, seems to have a exciting effect on men.
For me it has always been Estee by Estee Lauder. Second is Chanel No.5.
How can one tell if the scent is right for thier own body chemistry? I Haven’t came out of closet yet for girls advice in person yet?
My favorite perfume is provocative woman.
I’ve always been a Can-Can by Paris Hilton type of girl. Absolutely love the scent, has been my signature for years now.
I only wear Jovan Musk Oil. Yes it is quite strong but a little dab does it. Most other perfumes do not work with my body chemistry so I avoid them.
