Hair removal can significantly enhance your femininity and attractiveness, especially in the bikini area. After all, who doesn’t want to feel extra pretty in their panties?
In this blog post, I’ll share everything you need to know about bikini hair removal for crossdressers and trans women.
We’ll explore the best hair removal methods, their pros and cons, and important tips you won’t want to miss.
So, let’s get started on achieving a smooth and flawless bikini area!
Shaving
Shaving is a simple and affordable method of removing hair from the bikini area, allowing for convenient at-home hair removal.
Pros:
- Quick and easy hair removal method
- Inexpensive compared to other hair removal methods
- Conveniently done in the comfort of your own home
Cons:
- Potential for razor burn, ingrown hairs, and razor bumps
- Hair regrowth can happen quickly and feel coarse or stubbly
- Requires frequent upkeep to maintain smooth skin
Tips:
- Start with exfoliation: Gently exfoliate the bikini area before shaving to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs.
- Use a sharp razor: Ensure you’re using a clean, sharp razor blade to minimize irritation and achieve a closer shave.
- Shave in the direction of hair growth: Shave in the same direction as hair growth to reduce the likelihood of razor burn and ingrown hairs.
- Moisturize afterward: Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer after shaving to soothe and hydrate the skin.
Waxing
Waxing is a popular method for MTF bikini hair removal, offering longer-lasting results compared to shaving. It can be done at home or by a professional.
Pros:
- Results last longer than shaving
- Slower hair regrowth, often resulting in finer hair
- No more shaving nicks or cuts
Cons:
- Can be painful, especially for those with sensitive skin
- Can be expensive, particularly when done at a salon
- Risk of ingrown hairs, especially in the bikini area
Tips:
- Trim hair to a suitable length: Trim bikini hair to about a quarter-inch before waxing for more effective results.
- Test wax temperature: Check the wax temperature on a small area to avoid burns.
- Stretch the skin: Hold the skin taut while applying the wax strip to minimize discomfort and ensure a cleaner removal.
- Apply soothing products: After waxing, apply a soothing gel or aloe vera to calm the skin and reduce redness or inflammation.
Depilatory Creams
Depilatory creams, also known as hair removal creams, dissolve the hair at the skin’s surface using chemicals.
Pros:
- Can be done at home
- Quick and easy hair removal method
- Slower hair regrowth compared to shaving
Cons:
- Chemicals in the cream can cause skin irritation
- Results may not last as long as other methods
- Strong odor
Tips:
- Patch test first: Perform a patch test on a small area to check for adverse reactions or allergies before applying the cream to a larger area.
- Follow the instructions: Read and carefully follow the instructions on the depilatory cream packaging for safe and effective use.
- Apply an even layer: Use a spatula or applicator to apply a smooth, even layer of the cream for full coverage.
- Remove with caution: Gently remove the cream at the specified time using a damp cloth or the provided spatula, avoiding rubbing or scraping the skin.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal offers a long-term solution by targeting and destroying hair follicles using laser technology, resulting in reduced hair growth over time.
Pros:
- Long-lasting results
- Less painful than waxing
- Eliminates ingrown hairs
Cons:
- Can be expensive
- Multiple sessions required for optimal results
- Not effective on all hair types and skin tones (especially light hair and dark skin tones)
Tips:
- Consult a professional: Seek a consultation with a licensed professional to determine if laser hair removal is suitable for you and discuss the specific treatment plan.
- Avoid sun exposure: Minimize sun exposure to the bikini area before and after laser sessions to reduce the risk of skin damage or pigmentation changes.
- Shave before treatment: Shave the bikini area a day or two before your laser session to enable effective targeting of hair follicles without burning surface hair.
- Follow aftercare instructions: Adhere to the recommended aftercare instructions provided by the professional, which may involve avoiding hot baths, exfoliation, or specific skincare products to protect the treated area.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL is similar to laser hair removal, but it uses a different kind of light. Instead of a concentrated laser beam, IPL uses a broader spectrum of light that isn’t as focused.
Because of this, IPL can cover a larger treatment area, but it takes more sessions since the light is less powerful.
Pros:
- Faster than laser hair removal since it covers a larger area
- Good availability of at-home devices
- Usually less painful than laser hair removal
Cons:
- Requires more sessions compared to laser hair removal
- More risk of irritation due to the broader light spectrum used
- Can only be used on lighter skin tones / darker hair tones
Tips:
- Choose the right device: Invest in a high-quality IPL device that is suitable for your skin and hair type. (The Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 is popular choice among my blog readers.)
- Prepare your skin: Before using IPL, shave your skin to ensure that the IPL light targets the hair follicles directly.
- Follow the treatment schedule: Consistency is key for effective IPL hair removal, so be sure to follow the treatment schedule provided by the manufacturer.
- Protect your skin: After IPL treatment, your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight. Apply sunscreen to the treated areas whenever they are exposed to the sun.

Hi Lucille, and everyone. I have only been trimming for about a year. I’m not completely shaven, but after I trim really good every other week, its pretty close to being shaven. I love the feeling and look of a neatly trimmed (almost shaven) bikini area. It truly does make a girl feel more feminine. I will continue to maintain this, and maybe one day completely shave…I’m just worried about the irritation and itching that Lucille speaks of, so thats why I trim all of what I can.
Been shaved for years. LOVE IT!!
I’ve been shaving my private parts for years.I would really like to get it lazered off for good.I look better & feel better without all that hair.I would like to remove all the hair on my body.Only having hair on top of my head.
Can a lazer be used?
About the hair removal I strarted shaving first, then graduated to waxing.A little painful at first put I did get used to it.I now use a product call an Emjoi. It’s a epilator.I’ll Just say that I have been doing hair removal for so long that hardly anything grows back, pubic or any where else for that matter.Believe me it has been well worth it.Now if I could do something about my facial hair.Any suggestions?
i have been shaving for ten years and all i have is the hair on my head i love being smooth
Hi,Luclle: Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve tweezed and plucked every horrid hair I could reach. No hair has grown on my legs for years, now,-and very little on my arms or chest. My facial hair has always been so light that I could go 2 or 3 days before anyone would notice a little fuzz. I think electrolysis is the only way to deal with facial hair but havn’t done it, so I do a quicky- smooth face shave every day, and I have never had to worry about a shadow. I’ve used Nair just above my breasts, where I couldn’t see to pluck. In recent years I went after my muff with a rezor, but I think a little. tiny muff down there is OK. I don’t think our sisters should worry if the have to pretend to be a guy with hairless arms. I did for years and no one ever said anything and I couldn’t have cared less about what thry might have thought. Thank you, again. Love Melanie
Maria Rene,
IPL stands for “Intense Pulsed Light”. It works to remove hair by selectively killing the hair follicles within the skin. It is similar to using Laser light for hair removal, but technically it does not use Laser light, it uses Intense Pulsed (non-laser) Light.
I have had Laser hair removal done on my entire body. It’s fantastic! I had my beard, arms, underarms, chest, pubes and legs done. It has taken about a year and the results are amazing. I have fair skin and dark hair, so laser and IPL work well for me. I had some clear or white hair in my beard that did not absorb the Laser light, so I’ve had electrolysis done on my remaining white beard hair. Now my beard is 99% gone and my face is 100% smooth with a very small amount of tweezing. The laser has removed about 95% of the hair below my waist, so I’m continuing the laser treatments and using the Norelco Bodygroomer shaver on the remainder for a totally smooth body. FYI, I have a small amount of lighter hair in the pube area that’s been ‘laser-resistant’, so that will require electrolysis (somewhat painful) or continued shaving. I will continue the laser treatments as long as the lighter hair gets removed. I will probably get electrolysis on the minor amount of lighter hairs so I can always enjoy my smooth body without having to shave or anything. It’s such a freeing thing to always be ready with a smooth body!
how to use this electrolysis?? please tell me.. thank you
I shave it all. A quick flick in the shower does it. Don’t like hair, not a good look in a G string.
use aloe vera gel after, skin looks smoooooooth.
Oh wow Crystal, lovely breasts. I’ve tried herbs two years now and outcome is nothing like your friends. You look great.
