Traveling opens up new perspectives and can be especially freeing if you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman.
When you take a trip, it’s a chance to express your feminine self without the routines and expectations of everyday life.
Being your true self in a fresh, unfamiliar place can feel incredibly empowering!
Considering all the benefits of taking a transgender or crossdressing vacation, I’d love to know: Do YOU travel en femme?
Take my poll and share your MTF travel experiences or dreams in the comments!
Love,
Lucille

I do not travel. at least not more than an hour or two away from home by car. reason being, I have family and a job that keep me tied pretty close to home. if I was traveling farther or by other means and alone I would travel in fem. I do not have a passport(don’t want one) or i might get sent overseas by my employer. I wear a unisex-uniform at work so comming out at work hasn’t officialy happened. it’s more something i’m growing into. so i would not travel in fem with co-workers. and none of my family is accepting of me so if im traveling to visit family, i cant dress in fem.
starting to get the picture?
I struggle to be “out” in fem.
tomorrow i plan a trip to the store (in fem) and looking forward to putting on some makup.
Hi,
I dont’t understand the fuss, I have been full time for years and my first tavel experience was to Hawaii in 2000, and I have been travelling “en femm” forever.

HI, for years I had been shy about traveling. The past few years I have gradually traveled more an more feminine. Everywhere I travel it is dressed. I have finally reached a turning point in my life in the last 6 months. I have been feminizing myself for 15 years and it has finally paid off. No matter how I’m dressed male or female I am addressed as female now. So I am now taking the next step. It is embarrassing to try and explain the difference in name and looks so a name change is in progress and going women full time 24/7. Next step surgery next year! I wish everyone the same luck as I. Keep the faith and you will get there.
For all transgendered interested the Transportation security commission has a page on there website for transgender passengers
I said no to the vote. But after reading some of the post I should have said yes. I do travel but by car only. I travel by car and go where I want to. I love to interact with others wile traveling. I always try and leave someone with a good impression of a transgender person.
I have travelled enfemme lots of time, even on airplanes. It is so fun to be called ma’am. 🙂

Hi Girls,
“Become a Tourist!” I have traveled en-fem all over the globe, stayed in some of the nicest hotels, played in the surf at some of the worlds finest beaches. I was one of the first American citizens to travel to Denmark after 9-11. Since then I have taken 8 cruises and flown over 30 times nationally and internationally headed for various vacation spots. I have crossed several countries borders and passed through many TSA and foreign Immigration/Customs areas with no issues. If you want to cross borders just be honest with yourself and the authorities “Don’t Lie!”
I am not wealthy I just love to travel and I make it a priority in my life. I’m 6’1″ in stocking feet, my voice is deep, and when I travel my appearance is usually casual unless there is an event or special dinner. I rent cars, hail cabs, ride buses, take tours, deal with hotel staff, and do anything other female tourists would do. People respond favorably, I respect the people I meet and in turn they respect me.
In the past as transgendered individuals we have handed over our rights to live our lives as citizens of the world to others. We have failed to believe that we have the same birthrights as everyone else. Due to our perceived fear and our guilt, we as a group have allowed ourselves to be kept in the closet.
Today, many of the issues that have held us back in the past are dissolving right in front of our eyes. Today, you can be counted in the Census and Vote as Transgender. Today, you can go to Doctors or Clinics, be prescribed HRT and be covered by your Health Insurance, Today, you can legally change your name, your gender, and get a corrected Drivers License. Today, you can change your gender at Social Security and get a job without fear that your employer will be be notified that your gender marker doesn’t match. Today, you can get a Passport with your corrected name and gender. These opportunities are all available Today to Pre-Op, Non-Op, and Post-Op Transwomen and Transmen.
Today the world is changing. Each of us in the Trans-Community has a responsibility to step out of our closets, shed our fears, and throw down our guilt. We need to grasp hold of the “Golden Ring” and it’s opportunities while it is in reach for ourselves and future Trans-Peeps.
Let’s travel the globe with without Guilt, fear, and with Pride!
“Thank You” Lucille for all of the work you do!
You are absolutely right! As a world traveler myself…things are very good!” Nothing is a problem unless you make it one”…best describes life for a T in the mainstream world.
I couldn’t agree more with comments. However, each of us individually need to move forward at a pace we feel comfortable with. Our situations are different. In my particular situation, I live in a rural region that since colonisation over 200 years ago, has been governed by extreme right wing, arch-conservatives. These people feel threatened by change bigtime. In fact, I’m contemplating shifting back to urban social environment where I can feel freer and more anonymous. I feel freer to travel nationally androgynous and l hope & will travel globally en femme. After that l’ll attempt to go back to regional mother earth. YAY & Love, Jaine.
No, I don’t travel en femme because my driver’s license looks male. I’m afraid if I get pulled over by the police they’ll arrest me. Do you have to update your driver’s license with your female picture to be safe driving????
What would a cop do if I got pulled over for something like a speeding ticket or not using a blinker? Is it against the law to dress opposite to your driver’s license picture?
I have traveled by auto and by air many times. Used my male DL and never had a smidgen of a problem.
Once at the Las Vegas airport, the guy checking IDs must have been 100 years old as he was all shriveled up and sitting hunched over at a desk. He would hold the DL about 2″ from his glasses and then look up at the passenger and nod them throuigh. When he looked at my male DL and then looked up, he started looking all around the area. I said to him ” It’s me” He looked at me and just handed the DL back and nodded to go ahead.
Thanks so much for helping me relax about this! LOL about the ID checker.
I drive semi truck all over been stop in scale houses and along side of the road. Even in Texas. As long as you show proper id. There’s nothing they can do. It’s not illegal to be your . Some get upset must don’t because there being trained for this since there our more people coming out. The first time you do get stopped you’ll be nerves it’ll be ok just be yourshelf
When you said “Even in Texas” that made me feel better 🙂
Hi Jerry
Long time no see. Hope you are doing well!!
Lois, I’ve gone through airport security, car rental counters, and an immigration checkpoint with my male driver’s license. The “worst” thing that happened: security guys saying “I think you have the wrong ID, ma’am.” Oh and having a female agent check me head-to-toe because my waist cinch wouldn’t let me through the metal detector.
Meg, thanks for making me feel better about it. Did the security guy finally realize you had the correct id? Was it the metal hooks on your waist cincher that set off the detector?
I think if I take baby steps and not drive too far away from home at first, I’ll get braver.
Leann,
Thank you so much for your reply! I live in Texas and have fears of being pulled over. That’s why I haven’t ventured out in my car. And my biggest fear would be getting arrested and put in jail. I guess when you hand them your driver’s license they’ll do a double-take. I suppose you let them do all the talking instead of trying to explain?
Now I think I can get out there if I won’t be arrested! I know I’ll be so nervous that I’ll be driving extremely careful! The cruise control is a great idea. Thanks Leann!
Lois,
Where do you live? In the US, it is not illegal. Cops should not give you grief should they stop you. Having said that, if you do get pulled over stop in a public spot so that if the cop had any idea they would have to do it in front of people.
In order to not get stopped, just watch how you drive like using your cruise control so you don’t speed.
