Age is a popular topic around here and I’m occasionally asked…
“Am I too old to crossdress?” or “Am I too old to transition as a transgender woman?”
My response?
NO, of course not!
Whether you are a so-called mature crossdresser – or an older MTF woman beginning her transition – it is NEVER too late to be your true female self.
I believe that the true desires or your heart are meant to be expressed – no matter how long they’ve been buried.
Is it true that your age may have an impact on hormone therapy or surgery? Yes, that’s possible. But a good doctor will guide you on your best and safest options.
The fact remains that you can transition and/or present yourself as a woman at any point in life.
In fact, embracing your feminine side can give you a whole new lease on life…
I see it all the time: People seem to grow years younger when they make the decision to be themselves fully.
Having the courage to express your true self also inspires others to do the same. The world needs more of this!
In the words of Laverne Cox:
“It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.”
I’ll say it again: You are NEVER too old to be your true female self.
So, I encourage you to take that next step and do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.
You deserve it. And it’s not too late!
Do you agree that age is just a number?
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic…
How old were you when you decided to fully embrace your female self? (Or are you still waiting?)
Let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille

Am I too old to crossdress? I think that depends mainly on your physical condition. Some people think age is just a number and indeed, you are as old as you feel. However, you have to take into account the fact that you are not getting any younger. Except (perhaps) when you give shape to your alter ego, although limitations are often more difficult to mask, let alone that you are still standing firmly in your pumps. So yes, there may come a time for a crossdresser when his circumstances no longer allow crossdressing. No matter how much you would like to. For me, 74 years old and a severe discomfort richer, it may be wiser to put that desire aside.
Hej, Ja! jag är 70 och visst, jag ångrar att jag inte gjorde något i unga år men på den tiden så var det såååå mycket svårare att visa sin riktiga sida som mtf men om jag varit ung idag, då hade det varit sååå mycket lättare.
I got very emotional reading this post. I’m in my early 30’s, and have know for a long time who I truly am, and only recently started expressing myself the way I want to. It feels liberating to express myself in a feminine manner. My heart tells me I’m a woman, and I have to be who I need to be.
While it is true that age is just a number, many of us allow that number to govern our feelings and actions. Our physical health is also a factor which must be reckoned with. I am 73, and have had triple bypass surgery. I have allowed myself to pity my condition. My Sandy side has been submerged. I am now regaining my perspective, as well as both my physical and emotional health. It has been over 2 years since my surgery. Enough wallowing in self pity, and self denial. Love you all…Sandy
At present, having transitioned to my long-delayed female self, I would have to wear mens’ duds to crossdress. I rarely consider it, although one Halloween I dressed as my earlier me, and floored everybody. I started this wonderful voyage late in life, and I am very much later now, and still appreciating the joy of the change. So I vote no, it’s never too late to embrace your real you.
