Wearing lingerie is a guaranteed way to feel feminine. Best of all, it’s something you can indulge in on a daily basis.
What are the lingerie pieces every trans woman or crossdresser should own?
I’ve compiled a list of 10 must-have transgender / crossdressing lingerie items that should be part of your MTF wardrobe. Read on to learn more!
1. Basic Black Or Nude Bra
Every girl needs a basic bra, so a simple nude or black bra is a must.
If you’re having trouble finding your size, try the Leading Lady Lightly Padded Contour Underwire Bra. It comes in a wide range of sizes that would fit most crossdressers and transgender women. (Band sizes 36-54, cup sizes A-G)
2. Panty Gaff
For a flat and feminine look, a panty gaff is your best friend. A gaff is an undergarment designed to offer a smooth and tucked appearance. Here are a few options:
- Gold Seal Gaff by The Dress Form Store
- Super Strong Hiding Gaff by Suddenly Fem
- Thong Gaff by Glamour Boutique
3. Shaping Camisole
Who couldn’t benefit from a little mid-section slimming? A shaping camisole can help you slim down your waist and stomach without constricting you like a corset or girdle would. I like the camisoles from Yummie, which go up to a size 3x.
4. Padded Panty
If you crave feminine curves (and who doesn’t?), padded panties offer an instant solution. Your options range from light lifting to full-on hip and butt shaping. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Light shaping – Ulta Sheer Padded Panty by FeelFoxy
- Medium shaping – The Glamour Gal Silicone Hip and Butt Padded Shaper
- Full shaping – Veronicas by Classic Curves
5. Nude Or Black Pantyhose
While women don’t wear pantyhose as often as they used to, pantyhose looks more polished than bare skin and enhances the appearance of your legs. Your lingerie wardrobe should definitely include a pair of black and/or nude hose.
6. Slinky Nightie
There’s nothing like slipping into a slinky nightgown to make you feel extra feminine. Whether you prefer long or short, you should own at least one silky nightie. Or better yet, buy a few in different lengths and colors.
7. Basic Panties
Sometimes simple is best! Whether you prefer thongs, bikinis, or briefs, you should own at least a few basic panties.
8. Sexy Bra And Panty Set
While the basics are important, half the fun of lingerie is expressing your sensual side. That’s why no wardrobe is complete without at least one super sexy bra and panty set.
9. Nubra
The Nubra is an adhesive bra that’s fantastic for creating cleavage. Since it’s backless and strapless, it can be worn alone or under another bra. To learn how to create feminine cleavage with the Nubra, see my post on How to Get Feminine MTF Cleavage.
10. Silk Or Satin Robe
A silk or satin robe is a classic boudoir piece that will make you feel ultra feminine. You should have at least one so you have something sensual to slip into when you are at home.
Let’s talk lingerie!
It was hard to narrow this list to just 10 items, so I’d love to hear your thoughts…

Hi Lucille! It is Summer in my country now so I’ve a pair of Spandex, Micro-Mesh, Nude Bloomers that compliments my micro-mesh, cross-over bra. I have some short, luminous, lace-trimmed socks to wear, but mostly bare-footed or bedroom slippers. If it is cooler in the evening (at home) I’ll put on a gorgeous, silk, floral robe. These pieces cause me to totally relax and chill!! So Summer can be super enjoyable ; ) I’ll checkout the shaping cami you mentioned..thanx! Love, Jaine X
My most wearable lingerie is a black 2 piece nightgown which long and almost to the floor. It is lacy over the breasts and to the waist. I now am wearing the first piece only which is sleeveless with black mitten/gloves.
I have many tank tops but not camisoles. I do have one in a form-following style but the color, light beige I don’t feel is flattering to me so I don’t wear it much. My waist is not flabby but I do wish it were finer.
As for bras I prefer the ones which are padded as they are more discreet but I have never tried T-shirt bras. I often wear sport bras but they tend to squash the breasts which is not flattering but I work out a lot.
I like to wear shapewear too much to want to wear thongs much although I may want to wear them in the summertime when it is very hot but it is not so where I live right now.
The robe pictured looks lovely but it is too skimpy to wear here for me during this semi-winter weather.
Currently I do not have any black pantyhose although plenty of “tan” ones or the like which would look great on me provided I would the shade right which I have not. My legs are very tan and I’d like to show them off as such sometimes.
I love to wear a lace slip under dresses & skirts. For me it greatly enhances my femininity.
I have always loved slips. Makes me feel so feminine to wear a slip under a skirt or dress. 🙂
My favorite piece of feminine lingerie would have to be a silky nightgown, even though it’s not on the list above. I love to wear mine under my robe and lay around the house in it.
Lucille, I read your blog concerning the 5 best undergarments to wear and have an important question. I see you like the Shaping Camisole. I am interested but…I wear corsets all the time when dressed which quite frankly is all the time. If I’m staying home, I’ll discard the corset after 5-6 hours as it rubs me raw. When being out, I bear it for as long as needed.
Are you saying that I will get the same effect with the Cami? I am 5’9″ tall and weigh 203; down from 255. I need to drop another 20 and hope to my 2015 (I love my beer….LOL)
I assume I’d be a 1x at the site you suggest. Would I wear said Cami instead of my costly and uncomfortable corsets?
Kisses, Rhonda
u should read my post on this topic re protecting your skin by wearing a seamless cami
Hi Rhonda!
A corset will definitely offer more shaping, but as you said, it comes at a price. A shaping camisole would be the most comfortable option, followed by a girdle or waist cincher. Unfortunately, the more shaping the garment, the less comfortable it will be. All department stores carry shaping camisoles, so you could try one on and see if it offers enough support for you. 🙂
HI Lucille and all girls around
i noticed whats a turn on for men wearing a classical suit and wearing sexy lingerie with stockholders and all under it
i love lace in all colors animal prints especially leopard
love to wear corsets even on my jeans with some heels under it
long loose gown also work
you can experiment just think about these points when buying lingerie
must be classy sophisticated sexy
and yes men like when you wear one piece
i mean if you go lace go lace allover
if you go red go red all over panties and bra same color and fabric
LOVE YOU ALL XXXAaliyah
thanks I love my lingerie. I wear pantys and a bra with my berast forms every day.
I nolonger wear any of my drab male clothes
I am just starting to build my wardrobe again. I do love satin and lace and make most if my buying decisions based on that. If I had to chose my favorite piece though it would be a toss up between my blue satin robe or my blue lace nighty. I am really not that crazy about thongs.
