The right pair of shoes can instantly transform the way you look, feel, and walk. That’s why a girl can never own too many pairs!
Of course, not all shoes are created equal and some styles are much more flattering and feminizing than others.
That’s why in this blog post, I’ve compiled the top 7 shoe styles for crossdressers and transgender women.
From classy high heels to comfortable flats, here are the best MTF shoes to enhance your feminine image.
1. Classic Black Pumps
What could be more chic than a pair of classic black pumps? They add a polished look to any outfit, making them a feminine wardrobe staple.
For the most mileage, choose a closed-toe, full back style with a heel that’s high enough to help loosen up your hips as you walk.
2. Ballet Flats
You don’t have to wear high heels to look feminine!
Ballet flats are a fantastic option, especially if you’re on the taller side or want to look pretty and stylish without sacrificing comfort.
3. D’Orsay Pumps
The d’Orsay is a beautiful and elegant pump style in which the sides are cut away to reveal the arch of the foot.
D’Orsay pumps are perfect for showing off shapely legs – an asset for most crossdressers and transgender women.
4. T-Straps
T-straps add a sexy touch to pumps, high heel sandals, and flats. T-strap shoes have two distinct benefits:
- The ankle strap offers extra support for your ankles, making them easier to walk in than other heels.
- The vertical line created by the center strap draws the eye upwards, making your legs look longer.
5. Nude Heels
If you’re on a budget, nude heels will give you the most mileage since they can be worn with literally any color of outfit.
Choose a nude tone that blends in with your skin to make your legs look miles long – an added bonus!
6. Wedges
Still trying to master walking in heels? Then consider a wedge heel. Since the sole covers more ground, they’re much easier to walk in.
One caveat: Wedges have a chunky look, so they are best for those with thinner legs. Stay away from them if you have large or muscular legs.
7. Tall Boots
Boots are sexy and sassy, so they’re a wardrobe must.
Choose knee high boots for the most elegant look. Tall boots are more flattering and slimming than ankle boots or boots that hit the middle of the calf.
Let’s talk shoes!
Of course, these 7 shoe styles are only the beginning! While all of these options are fantastic, the best shoes are the ones that make YOU look and feel your best.
I could talk about shoes for days, so let’s keep the conversation going!
Take my poll and then and share a photo of yourself wearing your favorite shoes in the comments below!

Lucille

yes i am the same as you on my buying of stiletto shoe and boot as you love them all
I absolutely love and adore all sorts of feminine heels and other footwear! Its one of my favorite things about being a crossdresser. My picture is my feet but in a female friends pair of sandals. I temporarily “borrowed” a pair of her cute sandals and even painted my toes with her pretty pink nail polish! I like open toed wedges, heels and sandals so I can look down and see my painted toes, when I have the chance to let Shawna out. Unfortunately I am a closet crossdresser and have very little time to be my inner, true self. Due to this, I don’t own many female shoes at all. I own two pairs of open toed heels. 🙁 I plan on expanding my female shoe collection tremendously once I live alone and can dress more often. Keep up the beautiful work Lucille, I love your site! Kisses, xoxo!!
hello Lucille and girls. I had a stroke 3 and a half years ago that effected my right leg and arm. The hospital gave me a leg brace to wear so that I could walk better. But it was uncomfortable to wear. I thought about high heeled shoes to wear. One of my girl cousins challenged me to walk in a “Walk in her heels” event to raise awareness of sexual violence against women . So a couple of weeks after I got home from the hospital , I nervously went into a Payless store and told the saleslady I was looking for some women shoes to walk in the event. She showed me 2 pairs of shoes , one a inch and a half heel the other a 2 inch heel . I tried them on , they both fit good and easy to walk in. Going up to the sales counter I noticed a pair of 3 inch pumps in my size. So I sat down and tried them on. I stood up and oh my god, what a huge difference , My right leg instantly felt better and more relaxed . I was wobbly walking in them in the store because of the very narrow heel. But I knew with practice I could walk better. So I bought all 3 pairs of shoes . That day I decided to bring my feminine side out and go out in public dressed as a woman so that I could wear 3 inch heels. Since that day it has become a deep rooted passion to go out dressed as a “passable woman “. I intend to go out as a well dressed , conservatively fashionable , retired career woman.
So since then I have bought several dresses , skirt suits , blouses , skirts and scarves. And of course lots of shoes , mostly 3 inch heel pumps and wedges. I have about 30 pairs of shoes and 6 pairs of calf high boots , four with a 3 inch heel. I also have about 30 handbags in various styles and colors. I discovered I have a shoe and handbag fetish . So I guess I am like a lot of my girlfriends out there.
I can’t wait till I can buy a new car , so that I can schedule an appointment at TGNorth to buy a wig and get a makeover . I am sure that will be fun and emotionally rewarding day.
I really enjoy reading your blog, Lucille. It has encouraged me to pursue my therapy. Hint , hint , walking in 3 inch heels is way more fun than wearing a leg brace.
Have great day all. Alicia
i have over 60 pair of womens shoes but my favorites are my mule that i slip on every day they are so comfortable that i forget that i am wearing them. but i also love my slippers that i wear when just walking around the house.
I love heels
I have close to 30 pairs of heels strapy stilettos are my fave look but for comfort and easy walking the wedges offer the most stability(can’t tolerate wobble) next would be the platforms as they let me wear a 5 or six inch spike heel that fits like a 3 inch heel but for sexy look, comfort, and stability my thigh high zip up spike heel boots are the best. I do have booties that look great until I put them on then for some reason I just don’t like the way they look on me plus they make my feet wobble so not something I wear when stepping out! Unfortunately with my weird feet being two different sizes 9.5 and 10 in women’s I normally go with closed round point toes so it’s not obvious since in open toed shoes my toes dont come to the edge of the left shoe like they do in the right shoe really pisses me off when I have my toenails filed painted and looking nice! Oh well guess I shouldn’t let such a little detail bother me.
In the years since this original post my selection has been refined slightly. As I still love the Stiletto heels my daily or rather nighttime choice is more of a block or kitten heel. Seldom do I wear the platforms except with a long formal. I’ll admit sorting through my collection was tough but donating around 25 pairs of footwear all still in near new or new condition along with close to 100 other articles of clothing to a women’s shelter made the task much easier. I kept 17 of my favorites. So I can see why women hate to part with any of their shoe collection and frequently find new ones they can’t be without but it was rewarding knowing these would benefit a very worthwhile cause. My wife has suggested that I take a break from adding any new so until some get worn out I will not be adding any more to the collection (for a while anyway).
Not the sort of thing a 75yo shoud wear when out and about, but a little background magic has this studio shot of me in a all but deserted shopping arcade. I published the photo recently and it’s received dozens of comments, especially about my boots. They’re getting old, but I still wear them as much as my other favourite shoes.
A few years ago, I discovered Payless. Thei8r Karmen Pump is wonderful! It is high enough to be sexy, without being so high as to be unmaneagable on stairs. It hads a round toe ox, so my feet don’t look so long as with a pointed toe (and it doesn’t squish my toes together). I own them in black, white, red, nude, and turquoise. I wish they made a calfskin or medium brown and a Navy. If they did, I’d own them, too. My everyday shoes are a pair of plain black ballet flats from Payless, and a pair of Tic Tac Toe Maryjane flats. OF course, I also have a pair of canvas “walking” shoes, a pair of plain flat sandals, and a pair of unisex “river” shoes (you know the kind – the ones with treads that look like they are made from old tires, with Velcro ankle and arch straps).
