Do you go out in public as a woman?
If the answer is no, you’re not alone. Nearly 75% of my readers rarely or never leave the house en femme.
While going out en femme can be exciting and empowering, it’s not the only way to express your feminine side as a crossdresser or transgender woman.
Whether you choose to go out or keep it private, both options are valid!
This is an important topic, and I’d love to know what you think.
Where do YOU present yourself as a woman?
- Strictly in the privacy of your own home?
- At select places – like nightclubs, meetups, or conferences?
- Anywhere and everywhere as a full time woman?

I came out to family and a few select friends from about Nov 2010 on. And for me it’s a mixture of male and female dress for an androgynous look. So I do turn a few heads. I live in a rural area of Northern California and most women here wear pants. I think they’re feeling liberated from years of being forced to wear a skirt with no option.
But I wanted to wear a skirt because I did not want to be denied any longer or told I shouldn’t, and that’s what I do almost everyday now. I wanted a wide variety of choice that women now enjoy and fought for.
My hair is shoulder length and I wear 3/4 inch silver hoop earrings and a butterfly necklace. I wear no makeup at present. So it is a mixture of gender, or gender fluid. I use a male name and male rest rooms, etc…
I went out the first time shopping in a near by town in a blouse. Next day was a blouse and skirt to my optometrist. It took me some time to find casual feminine clothes but my best source has been good will.
Now I wear a skirt to the grocery store, to get mail, get gas, out shopping, a street fair, to visit family and restaurants. During the winter I wear a long skirt and leggings. But I’m looking forward to wearing shorter skirts, about knee length or slightly above. I did wear a knee length jean skirt last weekend with the warmer days traveling in a car and getting gas.
I would not go by myself to a bar because I’m not trying to attract men to myself, that’s not me, but perhaps with another person. But I do enjoy the smiles from many women as my new attire is attracting women. I want to be safe and street wise.
hi lucille for write me so i like femme at home that me do feels very exiting but only along i feels very atracted do it with somebody in same conditions.femme too,but i am very shy i need somebody take the start with me take care with me do it me feel very femmenine.and you luccile have you a partner woman or man.i like women and transexual, transvestites very femmenines, okey thanks and take care easy.
I make an effort to pas as boy only at work and that will not last. Other than that I always at least think of myself as enfem. Right now I don’t pas as either very well.
Actually it’s amazing what you can get away with at work with little or no hassle with a little planning and a lot of nerve. I wore acrylic nails with lovely colors for seven years at work and everyone could clearly see my femme side was showing.
Shirley is absolutely right. You can also get away with clothes that are made for a woman but have masculine colors or styles.
Almost everywhere except work and where ID might be an issue
love dressing (of course!) I tried to vote for more than one choice but had to limiti to just one for the poll apparently.
Love all the ideas I find here! Thanks Lucille!

And YOU look very lovely too! I can see the happiness in your eyes 🙂
I dress in a style I call business sexy. Yes, I wear dresses to work. Yes, I wear skirt/blouses to work. Yes, I wear suits to work. So what’s unusual about that? The length of the hem – midthigh! I also am very well noted for wearing high heels with all my outfits. Four, five, six and even seven inch heels! I own my own distributorship for an agricultural chemical and automotive lubricants company, so I set the bar at a level I’m comfortable with. Do I flash cleavage? Only when necessary to get a guys attention (lol)!!!!
I buy them locally at stores like belk and occasionally fashion bug
Hi Michelle, would love to see pics of you wearing the business sexy outfits. May I ask where you buy them, because I cannot seem to find business suits that have a mid thigh length skirt, and thats what i want. Thank you!
