Do you go out in public as a woman?
If the answer is no, you’re not alone. Nearly 75% of my readers rarely or never leave the house en femme.
While going out en femme can be exciting and empowering, it’s not the only way to express your feminine side as a crossdresser or transgender woman.
Whether you choose to go out or keep it private, both options are valid!
This is an important topic, and I’d love to know what you think.
Where do YOU present yourself as a woman?
- Strictly in the privacy of your own home?
- At select places – like nightclubs, meetups, or conferences?
- Anywhere and everywhere as a full time woman?

I have to say that dating for me is a problem. I do not know how to go about this. I have tried several online dating services for trans persons but never liked any of them, however, I do have many friends online probably because I write well and really like to write and in several languages.
I would not say that I am a woman although I am often called one. I would like to say that I am just a feminine man which unfortunately has no niche in our civilization complex. I dress as a woman all the time. I even have what women 90% of the time may have but not men: bladder trouble from interstitial cystitis although now it appears that it is more from food allergies than from anything else. My PSA level is high and I have an enlarged prostate but now that my urinary condition is under control ( and consequently my sleeping trouble) I am fine physically. I would not want to take oral hormones but I have been using Botcho Plus to increase the size of my buttocks for over 3 months now and I am happy about this and without any weight gain. I have also been using Sublime Bust for this length of time for breast enlargement but sadly cannot report success here. I do not know if I would like the full body of a woman but certainly like to have feminine curves which will come in handy as a belly dancer as well as some other kind of feminine-style dancer. Perhaps calling me a feminine man is not correct. Anyway I have been using the Woman’s Room for quite a few years now and nobody minds. I never liked the Men’s Room I have to say nor the way most men pee for the matter! I am 68yrs but only look about 48yrs. on the outside but my mind is definitely of “the old school.” To make fun of my feminine name one may call me the Pedantic Angel!

I’m 69, very passable, and now that am very retired, I live as I have always felt, ie a female. I do everything as a woman, grocery shopping, Dr’s appointments, to hardware stores, to auto service centers for truck maintenance, on trips, etc etc etc. Sometimes my voice will give me away and that’s 90% when on the telephone. I have worked on that but had to stop as was to costly. I’m a non-op Tg as well as non-hormonal, which I won’t do because of the ramifications from complications, is heart attack, stroke, etc etc. For me the risks aren’t worth it. I do have to chuckle even if to myself when I have to have that “male gland” examined for cancer. Yep, have been dealing with that now for 4 years. Life is so much better since I have been living as I feel. My worst days now are a lot better than the best days that I’d have before I could live my life as I do now. I have to say, too, that going clubbing, to bars, etc isn’t what I call being out and about. Of course, now I don’t imbibe adult beverages. Probably not old enuogh, yet!!
I go just about anyplace. I have a man who has taken me most anyplace. Its all about having fun. I am strictly a cross dresser. I have been lucky to have friends who took me out right away. They are all very public oriented. Some are t girls as well. We have fun and know how to act accordingly. We dress accordingly. Nearly all my friends know me and see me as Suzie.. So girls in the closet.. Give it a try.. You might surprise yourself and meet a lot of nice people. I have.. Make it fun and you might surprise yourself.. Think how a girl would dress and act … The key… Good luck..
Suzi
Love your sophisticated look.

I love the responses to this question. I have been completely out in public for the last 2 years at age 66. The checkout ladies at Safeway, who knew me well before, are very supportive and always offer positive comments….that is truly positive reinforcement. The only place I don’t present as female is in my hometown in Montana where my Mom lives. My sister told me not to tell Mom due to her frail nature. The next big outing in my life will be when I go to play golf. Have not played golf enfemme yet but its something I really really want to do. Maybe even play from the ladies tees! LOL I just love my life as a woman.
While I have gone to the mall and some stores as a woman, I never talked as my male voice would have given me away. Plus my lack of makeup skills gave me away all the time. So, most of the time I am a woman at home and close by. I expect by the time I finish the Stepping Out Secrets Program, that will change and I will be able to go anywhere as a woman.
Go to the Mall. Victoria Secrets,is great. 90% of the time someone will help you and if your just wearing a blouse and carrying your purse
I go just about anywhere I feel like going. Now that I’m 62, I want to go out even more. I just want to do it more now coz I feel I still look young enough to dress somewhat sexy, but at the same time I want to have an elegant look about me. For me looking elegant is more important than looking sexy at my age. I think the older girls feel the same way. For me it would be nice to have a feminine voice. That would make me feel so must more complete as a woman.
Hi Teresa 🙂
I hope I look as nice at your age (I’m 54).
Re voice work: have you considered some to the voice transition products offered by Lucille? I have found Kathie Perez’s materials to be *very helpful*…my voice is continues to improve, and I hope it will be a beautiful one someday (I’m told it is already, but it’s *so often* difficult for gals like us to see and hear beyond our pre-transitional selves). Anyway, I really think a feminine voice is within reach of us all – it’s not really about pitch as much as it is about other factors we can change. I hope for the very best for you in this Teresa; a feminine voice is *such* a godsend!!
Blessings!!
Bretta
Hey Brettany, Thanks for your input on the voice. Sometimes when I’m trying to talk fem my wife says I sound like my sister. Me and my sister are close in age, she is only 10 months and 28 days older than me. When we were real young we did sound just alike. Maybe that could be my fem voice. I’ll check out what you said Kathie Perez’s material. By the way, I am a member of Tri Ess. Maybe going there next weekend. Have a good day ahead…..Huggs Teresa
You Do Look Very Elegant Teresa. We Are Roughly The Same Age, But When Transformed I Enjoy Being Taken For 10 to 20 Years Younger; Thanks To Elegant Dressing, Make-Up & Hair Selection! And Of Course I Agree That Voice (And Feminine Mannerisms) Are Equally Important To Assist Our Transformations!
Yes Victoria, you are right, mannerisms are so important. My wife, and my sister and me go out together and they both tell me to eat slower, plus a list of other things. Can you believe they both support me as Teresa. I went to see my sister two years ago this coming March as Teresa and she didn’t know I was coming. I just showed up at her house and she met Teresa. We went in and set for a while talking and she said I have a new sister. You know that made me feel so so good. It’s been about a week ago since we went out together. Take care…..Teresa
