Are you excited to embrace your fabulous female self? Having the right tools is key!
While some transgender / crossdressing supplies are obvious, there are important items you might not have considered that can help you look and feel your best as a woman.
In this blog post, I share 10 must-have essentials for your male to female transformation journey.
1. Breast Forms
Breasts are arguably the most feminine part of a woman’s body.
If you don’t possess your own natural curves, then investing in a pair of breast forms is a must for any crossdresser or transgender woman. (Of course, you’ll also need a cute bra to put them in!)
2. Color Corrector
Dealing with a visible beard shadow can be a major challenge in putting your best face forward.
Although it may be tempting to camouflage it with thick concealer, the result never appears natural.
Instead, invest in a pink or red color corrector to help neutralize the tone of your beard shadow. This enables you to use less makeup and achieve a more natural and feminine appearance.
(Note: Check out The Makeup Magic Program for expert tips on concealing a beard shadow, using makeup to feminize your face, and so much more!)
3. Body Shaper
A body shaper is a versatile garment that offers multiple benefits, including waist trimming, belly flattening, and overall shape smoothing.
Body shapers come in a variety of styles. Opt for a brief style to wear under shorter skirts and a thigh-length style for pants and longer skirts.
To feminize your lower body, look for a body shaper with hip and butt padding to create the illusion of curves.
4. Perfume
The right perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine!
The secret is to choose a fragrance that matches the qualities you want to express. Here are some simple guidelines:
- Go for floral scents if you want to express your romantic side.
- Choose oriental or woody scents if you want to bring out your inner seductress.

5. Black Pantyhose Or Tights
While bare legs may be fashionable, there’s nothing quite like the sophisticated appeal of hosiery. Classic black pantyhose or tights, in particular, are a style must-have.
When opting for pantyhose, choose the sheerest hose available and stick to jet black. Avoid shades like gray-black or brown-black.
Alternatively, you can go for opaque tights for a more casual and youthful look.
6. Lipstick
Studies show that a woman’s lips are considered the most attractive part of her body, particularly when accentuated with lipstick.
It goes without saying that lipstick is an essential item that will instantly make you look more feminine and attractive.
7. Classic Pumps
Shoes say more about you than any other accessory. When it comes to making a statement, you can’t go wrong with a timeless pair of black pumps.
Classic black pumps exude sexiness, femininity, and work well with many types of clothes.
8. Moisturizer
Due to higher testosterone levels, males tend to have rougher skin compared to women.
That’s why it’s essential to incorporate a daily facial moisturizer into your routine, whether you’re presenting as your feminine self or not.
By using moisturizer regularly, you can achieve smoother-looking skin and enhance the application and longevity of your makeup.
9. Little Black Dress
The little black dress is a wardrobe staple every crossdresser and transgender woman should own. A simple black dress in a flattering length can go from day to night and will never go out of style.
10. Attitude
Lastly, the key to it all is your attitude – and it’s absolutely crucial!
The way people treat you often reflects how you expect to be treated. So, embrace your femininity and radiate fabulousness with confidence. You deserve nothing less, girlfriend!

LBD? Well, I actually own four and counting…..<3 I have been experimenting with makeup more and more and find that an angled brush can be a tgirl's best friend when doing my eyes….THE hardest part of makeup application. THX!!
Hi there girlfriend i have all of those thing’s ecept the grildle and the make up.
I have been trying to follow Lucille’s advise for some time now and there is plenty of proof that she is right. I have received a lot of positive comments from men and women on how I present in femme. If a complement does not boost your attitude and confidence you had better check your pulse. Hair/wigs is a subject Lucille has covered many times and should be a no brainer. Breast forms are a subject that many of my friends debate and it boils down to the question of do you want to blend in or stand out, but more is not always better. The only other thing I have found is an alternative to lipstick and that is lip gloss because it lasts longer and covers better than lipstick for me.
At my age with thinning hair on top but still a lot of hair left on the side I wear toppers, not wigs which blend in with my real hair. I have received a lot of compliments on it but since they are curly and curly is not in for belly dancing as far as I know I don’t wear them for belly dancing classes. Instead I just use Toppik to hide the thinning areas. I use Lady Gaga for perfume. I do not have any beard left to cover up. After many years of electrolysis there is none left except a little around my lips and sparsely here and there. My makeup is a little theatrical but as a belly dancer this goes right along with the other dancers.
Great advice! Special amen to:
Panty girdle. Almost makes me look ok when I really need it. YES!
Perfume. Floral seems best for all-around use. A bit musky for special times, but lighter for dancing. Don’t want to make anyone gag from too much…
Black tights/pantyhose. Lifesavers, can’t praise them too much. But there are times for nude, even white, pantyhose, too.
Lipstick. I love bright colors anytime. But still try for modest, natural looking contours. Nothing is more ridiculous than a man all dressed up, great ensemble, mostly decent makeup, and a clown mouth. Come on guys, just look at the girls and do what they do (at least most of them).
Pumps. A good, all-around basic style. I just wish I could wear higher heels without looking too mountainous…
Moisturizer. Yes, us old, rough-faced folks need all the help we can get. Faithful use keeps us from looking too scary. I like oil in the evening (olive, jojoba, plus vitamin E oil), and vitamin A cream in the morning.
Little black dress. Durn useful item, that. Lots of ways to use it. Even looks like a skirt when something is worn over it.
Finally, ATTITUDE. That can compensate for a multitude of style sins. I’ve gotten away with some pretty weird things by showing that it’s supposed to be fun. It really works, if you feel right, you are often perceived as right. Go get ’em, girls!
Yes all the above is nessasary except I very seldom wear blk pantyhose as much as I wear tan or beige. Here in the Midwest women wear more tan than blk because our skin is so light from winter. A good wig was not mentioned I feel that’s more important than a girdle. Pick one that’s not gaudy. A nice combination real hair synthetic is the best and learn how to wear it appropriately. Make up is key men half to high light opposite of most women. I’ve been living almost 90% as women this last year and have learned a lot. Make up, a good wig blending in clothing wise is key.
Great list. So hard to limit to just 10. For me … attitude and accessories!!! Attitude is the smile, the confudence to be who you are. Accessories are the earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, a great handbag. It’s the little details that make every woman unique.
Hi Lucille
I have C cup Breast Forms, black tights & pantyhose. A little black dress, lipstick & 2 inch black pumps. And I’m working on the attitude
