Are you excited to embrace your fabulous female self? Having the right tools is key!
While some transgender / crossdressing supplies are obvious, there are important items you might not have considered that can help you look and feel your best as a woman.
In this blog post, I share 10 must-have essentials for your male to female transformation journey.
1. Breast Forms
Breasts are arguably the most feminine part of a woman’s body.
If you don’t possess your own natural curves, then investing in a pair of breast forms is a must for any crossdresser or transgender woman. (Of course, you’ll also need a cute bra to put them in!)
2. Color Corrector
Dealing with a visible beard shadow can be a major challenge in putting your best face forward.
Although it may be tempting to camouflage it with thick concealer, the result never appears natural.
Instead, invest in a pink or red color corrector to help neutralize the tone of your beard shadow. This enables you to use less makeup and achieve a more natural and feminine appearance.
(Note: Check out The Makeup Magic Program for expert tips on concealing a beard shadow, using makeup to feminize your face, and so much more!)
3. Body Shaper
A body shaper is a versatile garment that offers multiple benefits, including waist trimming, belly flattening, and overall shape smoothing.
Body shapers come in a variety of styles. Opt for a brief style to wear under shorter skirts and a thigh-length style for pants and longer skirts.
To feminize your lower body, look for a body shaper with hip and butt padding to create the illusion of curves.
4. Perfume
The right perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine!
The secret is to choose a fragrance that matches the qualities you want to express. Here are some simple guidelines:
- Go for floral scents if you want to express your romantic side.
- Choose oriental or woody scents if you want to bring out your inner seductress.

5. Black Pantyhose Or Tights
While bare legs may be fashionable, there’s nothing quite like the sophisticated appeal of hosiery. Classic black pantyhose or tights, in particular, are a style must-have.
When opting for pantyhose, choose the sheerest hose available and stick to jet black. Avoid shades like gray-black or brown-black.
Alternatively, you can go for opaque tights for a more casual and youthful look.
6. Lipstick
Studies show that a woman’s lips are considered the most attractive part of her body, particularly when accentuated with lipstick.
It goes without saying that lipstick is an essential item that will instantly make you look more feminine and attractive.
7. Classic Pumps
Shoes say more about you than any other accessory. When it comes to making a statement, you can’t go wrong with a timeless pair of black pumps.
Classic black pumps exude sexiness, femininity, and work well with many types of clothes.
8. Moisturizer
Due to higher testosterone levels, males tend to have rougher skin compared to women.
That’s why it’s essential to incorporate a daily facial moisturizer into your routine, whether you’re presenting as your feminine self or not.
By using moisturizer regularly, you can achieve smoother-looking skin and enhance the application and longevity of your makeup.
9. Little Black Dress
The little black dress is a wardrobe staple every crossdresser and transgender woman should own. A simple black dress in a flattering length can go from day to night and will never go out of style.
10. Attitude
Lastly, the key to it all is your attitude – and it’s absolutely crucial!
The way people treat you often reflects how you expect to be treated. So, embrace your femininity and radiate fabulousness with confidence. You deserve nothing less, girlfriend!
Now I’d like to hear from YOU!

Jewerly is also a must have for me.
Here’s my version of your checklist, in daily place for me since March:
1) Not breast forms but small mastectomy puffs. I wear somewhat cheap 52B satin bras in five colors: baby blue, basic black, “nude animal” print, nude and lavender. Depends on dressing/laundry cycle in effect on any particular day (i.e. organized randomness).
2) Color Corrector for beard concealment was never on the radar but I do occasional indulge a professional facial at Sephora a few times per month with my own “guru.”
The beard shadow WAS a big problem but currently I am spending beaucoup bucks and time taking permanent care of business via electrolysis in two main methods depending on hair tone: Galvanic for gray and white, Laser for black. So far so good! I can tell my electric shaver is now working MUCH less hard. Ask again by Christmas!
3) Body shaper (and has been in my case literally for decades) is a very old-fashioned 4x high-waist girdle made by Cupid in nude and black, generally at Walmart. A friend heartily recommended skimmies, but I just personally prefer my grannie’s old undies. The result is just about the same, especially since I big time slimmed down and it will slip into my (new) hips, not requiring a wriggling battle as previous.
4) Not perfume but for me just a day to day sweet smelling anti-perspiration roll-on called Sweet Pea from Sauve (and again at Walmart).
5) I am an absolute hosiery junkie, so I have no less than six different shades cycled three to six days each (of course several pairs of each!): All from Berkshire’s support collection thanks to formerly poor blood circulation in my lower legs. The Pantyhose has definitely helped to incredibly improve that situation. Shades are: City Beige, Utopia (brown), Off Black, Fantasy Black, Nude and White. I had a custom tee shirt made which is colored “nude” and has the following printed on the front: “I LUV (heart) My Pantyhose!”
6) Lipstick from Day One last March, always Revlon 750 Red, which was what my Mom used for decades since the early 1960’s. Why break a great tradition now?
7) “Classic” Pumps were initially a tough nut to crack what with womens’ size 15 feet! Thanks to a fashion “in” out in Hollywood I was steered to a good supplier and a pretty fair line of products. From Pleaser I first came down with two pairs–one Mary Jane type another patent leather, both black with 2-inch heels. The first fits like a glove, the other always requires more effort, but is still wearable.
For day to day coming this fall I found three pairs of size 15 low heel pumps from Doll’s Kiss that I am now trying top break in: Red, Green and Black one each. All are the same. Left is fine, right requires some adjustment due to a right foot “twist.” My answer was to find three sets of correctly colored “instep straps” to stabilize whatever pumps I wear.
Added to the hosiery I get the idea and often catch eyes following my feet, even if I am handicapped enough to use a “Mart Cart” while shopping. It’s worth the “fuss!”
8) Facial moisturizers for me are one I apply every evening and another every morning after showering, both from Sephora. Hand moisturizing hasn’t really been a consideration this summer, but I’m sure I’ll be joining the legions of ladies battling dry skin as the atmosphere cools off and dries out. Time will tell on this one. What I also notice is my skin in many locations is markedly softening thanks to Estradiol patches.
9) Not just a Black Dress. As part of my transition, I promised myself, my therapist and anyone who asks that after 6 decades of blue jeans it was time to move on and so I haven’t worn any “pants” at all now in six months!
I finally had to give in and draft two pairs of capris for kicking around, and then when finally resumed PT, I was guided to print Yoga pants (which I simply LOVE!; where have you been through my life?!). Otherwise each day I wear skirts in spring, then long flowing summer dresses otherwise as featured attire.
My color cycle through the summer is 1) a plunging neck design in Royal Blue, Plum, Muted Green and Basic Black. Where I don’t yet have any real cleavage, I add a tee shirt in “between” to cover the um, space. Otherwise you’d be looking at the edge of my bra and maybe the puffs themselves! 2) I have a few long flowing “Disco dresses” which I adore: Claret (Red), Deep Violet, blue with gray and yellow print and white with a red/blue printed pattern.
Maybe someday I’ll become reacquainted with blue jeans and/or slacks, but I am in absolutely no rush!
10) Attitude. Well, my own philosophy is to try level best every day to project the mature transwoman I started as in March. No change or adjustment has as yet been required but will they? Probably. Nevertheless despite living in relative seclusion I have made a bunch of new female and/or f2m trans BFFs, considering I NEVER had a girlfriend at all as he, him, etc.
One day at a time, all!
Gigi
