Having an attractive waist-to-hip ratio is a key aspect of feminine beauty. But what if your belly is your problem area?
The good news is that there are some simple fashion tricks you can use to instantly trim your tummy and slim your waistline.
Not only will these tricks make you appear thinner, they will also help you achieve a more feminine, hourglass shape.
If that sounds exciting, let’s dive into my top 7 belly-flattening fashion tips for crossdressers and MTF transgender women!
Trick #1: Wear a Shaping Camisole
Corsets and girdles will certainly pull you in, but they’re not very comfortable for daily wear.
Instead, wear a shaping camisole under your clothes. It’s a wonderful alternative for trimming inches from your waist and belly – while still allowing you to breathe.
Trick #2: Try a Tummy-Minimizing Peplum
Peplums are a fantastic clothing style for crossdressers and MTF transgender women, as they are both feminine and flattering.
A peplum is a short overskirt attached at the waistline of a top, dress, or jacket that’s perfect for covering a full belly.
And thanks to the fit-and-flare styling, a peplum will also give you that sexy hourglass shape.
Trick #3: Avoid Bottoms That Sit Too Far Above or Below Your Waistline
If you’re dealing with a larger belly, it’s important to consider the placement of your skirt or pants’ waistband. Ideally, the waistband should sit just below your belly button.
- If the waistband is too high, it can create the appearance of your stomach bulging out from below.
- On the other hand, if the waistband is too low, it can lead to that undesirable “muffin top” look.
Trick #4: Wear a Light Colored Jacket Over a Dark Top
To minimize the appearance of a larger tummy, consider wearing a light-colored jacket over a dark top.
The jacket acts as a cover-up, while the dark color underneath helps your belly blend into the background.
For optimal results, opt for a jacket that has some structure to it. Princess seams, in particular, are a feminine and flattering feature to look for.
Trick #5: Downplay Belly Rolls With a Ruched Top
Ruching, which refers to fabric that is gathered along the seam line, is an excellent choice for hiding a larger belly.
Unlike flat fabrics that tend to highlight every bulge, ruching helps conceal what’s underneath – including those unwanted belly rolls.
Trick #6: Just Say “NO” to Tight Clothes
If your belly is your trouble spot, it’s important to steer clear of wearing overly tight clothing.
Clothes that are too tight (including bras and panties) will dig in and create unsightly bulges – calling even more attention to these areas.
Trick #7: Avoid Oversized Clothes
Just as you should avoid clothes that are too tight, neither do you want to wear clothes that are too loose.
Trying to hide a big belly under an oversized top just makes you look bigger. The key is to opt for clothing that gracefully skims your midsection instead of drowning it.
In conclusion
Don’t worry if your belly is a bit of a concern. The good news is, there are plenty of ways to minimize it and achieve that ideal hip-to-waist ratio.
What really matters is feeling self-assured as a crossdresser or transgender woman, and the right outfit can make all the difference!

Maybe one day we can meet who know we all need to build each other up
been wearing corsets, girdles, correct-size panty hose for 18 yrs. Does a great job.. but daily stomach, hip, and leg exercises are best. And, yes, Cala..stomach and all else looks perfect. Toodles, Roxanne.
in your opinion , how my belly looks like ? flat enough ?
Carla. ..I have to STOP TELLING YOU HOW AWESOME you look. ..not many of us looking that good. ..there was a day, 30-40 yrs ago. ..71 yo now …Heather & I are trying hard to make you proud of us ” Older Girls “…thanks. ..T.J.
Wow Carla, you look great and oh yes your “belly” is perfectly flat.
I’ve just gained another role model in you, thanks for posting the beautiful picture. I too am using daily exercises, a healthy low carb/good protein diet and wearing a training corset for most of the day to get my shape into the best hourglass figure capable for my body. Love the encouragement you and others give here.
OMG Carla, you are absolutely stunning. Keep up the good work. Luv, Heather
Definitely flat enough! Keep it up… I use daily exercise and diet to keep mine plat. 31″ and dropping. Roz
At 74 my feminine features are way “over the hill” and falling down the other side, lol! Still, I try to do the best I can with what I got left. I have found that clothes that are a little looser tend to hide some of the “lumps”.
Heather :
We have not spoken in a while, hope 2018 finds you well.
Since you always love my assesories, thought I’d share these pics, the vintage dress with “Cherries ” & a Purse to match, found at Goodwill. ..great place to find all kinds of items. Pictures from a local Consignment store. Stay well. ..T.J.

THXS for the tip!
I’m seeing a new therapist here, in December. ..after 3 yrs with wife in therapy in TN. We all need all the help we can get. Therapy is great, because it gives one the confidence to be themselves, without having severed criticism or berating. My therapist, a female, loved our sessions & complimenting me on my head to toe outfit.
Anyway. ..thanks “H”… Later. ..T.J.
Heather;

Sounds so exciting, have a wonderful time! And you look great. I still can’t get over how good you are at accessorizing. I have not been out as Heather in quite some time. Am planning on getting together with the Erie Sisters at their girls night out at the Funky Skunk next month. It has been so long. Oh, and thanks for the comment on my dog, Shawnee. She just lost her best friend, Shooter, last April. He died 3 days after his 14th birthday and I still cry over him. We did dogsledding together. I think I have a picture with him in it.
Heather, Sweetie. ..thanks for the kind comments, love you.
May I be so bold ( knowing I’m 71 ) as to how old you are? You look sooo good. We ” Old Gals ” have to stick together.
Beautiful Dog, as well! !

Heather :
Thanks for your reveal of the “AGE “.Don’t know about you, but I’m very proud of my “age “. Being a retired surgeon, My age was always a ” badge of honor “, a security for the patient.
I feel We are in the twilight of our dressing years. I will do this, until I can no longer be proud of my appearance.
Here are bigger shoots of the outfit, blow up to see the beautiful stockings. ..from Secrets in Lace in Richmond VA.
Looking forward to your comments. T.J.
T J I am 73, I actually forgot my age and put 74 on my original comment. I don’t believe that I look a day over 72 though, lol.
Love your outfit in this picture and the jewelry too. I too have to use the glasses like that. Putting on makeup when you can’t see what you are doing is a pain. Part of the adjustments one has to make as we get older but wiser. Huggs to you precious princess.
Heather, Sweet heart! ! you are truly amazing, & I can say that because I am 71! !
We will keep dressing /doing what We Do, as long as we can pull on our glorious Stockings.
You are MY HERO. ..THANKS FOR BEING YOU! YOU INSPIRE ME! !
T J, so funny you should mention being able to pull on our glorious stockings. I have been finding it difficult to bend my legs enough to get on pantyhose! I really like stay up and stockings with garter belts better anyway, so it works out. Whatever an old gurl has to do.
You go girl and stay sexy, hugs from Heather
Hi Lucille
Really sound advice. I steer clear of TIGHT clothing. I have a babydoll which worn over my bra creates the image I desire, without emphasising areas that I wouldn’t look to highlight.
Thanks for the much-appreciated support.
Sorry but I disagree on corsets, I wear them all the time .If you get one made to your mesurmants they are very comfortable an nothing is going to give you a more womanly figure:)
I try to stay with dresses and tops that aren’t too tight, but still show my curves. I must admit at being 70 I do love skinny jeans too!
Hello everyone,
The right size and shape of hip pads, breastforms, and shapewear works wonders for me. It’s a balance of these items to achieve the overall natural looking curvy body for my height and weight.
Stay beautiful,
Wanita
