My fav is just a girl by no doubt. When I was younger I used to fantasize that Gwen Stephanie was my older sister and she would do my hair and nails. I still think she is awsome and no other pop star can pull off pink like she does.
“Just A Girl” is just one of those songs that’s both incredibly catchy, and to this girl, has meaning. I know all the songs on this list, well, 8 out of 10, but “Just A Girl” beats them all, No Doubt!!!
Love it!
I love your pic you look very good
I love your blog about “Girl Power” songs. I would like to share my most empowering girl power songs that really get me going and give me confidence. Although I am a pre op transsexual woman and full time for 3 years…sometimes a girl just needs a little lift..lol.
! “Suddenly I See” by K T Tunstall…theme from ” The Devil Wears Prada”. Makes me feel pretty, perky, confidentg and feminine.
2. ” One Girl Revolution” (battle mix) by Superchic(k)…also was a song on “Cadet Kelly”. Because in becoming “The Tracie” I AM a One Girl Revolution
3. “Perfect Day” by Hoku…Theme from “Legally Blonde”. I am a total blonde and because God made me the woman I was meant to be every day is a perfect day!!! Praise Him!!!
4. “The James Bond Theme” and the theme from “Thunderball”. Because my name is Lashley…Tracie Lashley 008. I outrank 007 because he’s a mere male..lol. I love playing James Bond music driving down the street..hehe.
5. Strangely enough a song most people haven’t heard of…”Der Panzerlied”. This is a WWII German tank song on the movie “Battle of the Bulge”. I like it because it reminds me I am strong and undefeatable.
I thank God for allowing me to be the woman I was meant to be and encourage all true transgender women to “boldly go where few men have been before…and where few men want to go…lol” Be all the girl you can be. Remember..if you do something…do it right or don’t bother doing it at all. If you are gonna be a girl be all the girl you can be…if you want to be a guy, be all the man you can be…don’t just play dress up in Mommy or Wifies closet. Being a woman when you were born in a male body is a serious committment and takes courage…it’s not a game. Go for it girls!!!! Be all the girl you can be!!!
Love,
Tracie
“Biology” by Girls Aloud. If that isn’t (inadvertently) about crossdressing, nothing is.
Hi, Lucille! I have a few more to add to this list. A few of these have already cropped up on here, I think. My list is a bit more rock-oriented:
One Girl Revolution – Superchic(k)
Because I’m Awesome – Dollyrots
Androgyny – Garbage
Stupid Girls – Pink
I Know What Boys Like – Waitresses
As Girls Go – Suzanne Vega
Tear Off Your Own Head (It’s A Doll Revolution) – Bangles
What It Feels Like For A Girl – Madonna
Hugz!

Hi Lucille,
I like you so much, I love you!Excuse me for useing your blog to say “LISA” that I’m 71 years old. There are thousand people just like us with a great suffering because the prejudice.I’m a female into a male body, like you, LISA. I wanna be free like woman yet.
I would personally try to dissociate myself with what are in my view ‘cliche tranny anthems’ (they dont make me feel good at all) im glad if they work for many of you and more power to you, but if i walked into a room and someone played ‘man i feel like a woman’ or anything by the black eyed peas id be inclined to punch them. But its the point of this that matters not very tgirl has to like this list, so how about Meredith Brooks – Im a bitch, or Ellie Goulding – Starry eyed. As i like to remember the strong WOMAN i am, not the tranny. but for those that like the ‘tranny anthems’ how bout Garbage – Androgyny? xXx
Thank u for all u do!! Can u do an article on HORMONES!! Thinking about taking them, but i’d like a perspective!!
XOXO kisses
KATRINA
Hi Katrina,
You’re already a pretty, pretty woman. Hormones won’t finish the job, (SRS will) but they’ll do wonderful, beautiful things you can’t imagine. I’ve been on hormones for 10 months, day before yesterday. And when the opportunity to live full time presented itself last
September 7th, a month and a half after I began HRT, I took opportunity and owned it. I’ve been living the way I’ve always supposed to live, for 8 1/2 months now, the longest I’ve EVER been happy, at peace with myself, and I’m more than just accepted by my mom. She’s told me that now she knows, more than ever, that I’m finally the way I was meant to be from the womb! To be called ‘daughter’ and better, being her daughter, is simply beyond what my limited vocabulary can describe. I love her sooo much! Living as a woman all x x
Katrina, much of it, though, is because of hormones. They’ve helped bring my peace, improved my womanhood, and besides giving me ‘my girls’, hips, great skin, nails and hair, they’ve just done so much more than I ever thought possible. If you believe you’re ready for them, by all means, get them. Hopefully through an endocrinologist, but if you can’t, be it because of geography, finances or anything else, there are ways you can order them through the internet. Google DIY hormones and read the posts. There is a wonderful life out there waiting for you, especially with the way you look!!! Good luck, girl! Hugs, Miranda
Miranda,
You look a natural. I hope it continues to be good for you. I hope your Mom continues to be proud of you.
