A girl can never own too many bras, right?
But with so many bra options to choose from, it’s easy to go wrong and wear a bra that’s the incorrect size or style for your body type.
Want to enhance your feminine curves – without wasting money on bad bra purchases?
In this post, I share how to flatter and feminize your body with the 7 best bras for trans women and crossdressers.
1. Pocket Bra
A pocket bra, or mastectomy bra, has pockets in the cups to hold breast forms securely in place. If you wear breast forms (especially large or heavy forms), a pocket bra is a must.
2. Front Closure Bra
Crossdressers and transgender women tend to have wide rib cages and/or widely spaced breasts. This can make it hard to find a bra that fits properly.
Enter the front closure bra. Front closure bras have a clasp in the front of the bra instead of the back. These bras have wider set cups, making them easier to fit.
3. T-shirt Bra
The t-shirt bra is every girl’s best friend. It’s a seamless, molded cup bra that’s designed to look smooth under your clothes – even the most form-fitting tee. Best of all, t-shirt bras come in a wide range of sizes.
4. Convertible Bra
A common complaint I hear from crossdressers and transgender women is that many bras have straps that aren’t long enough for them.
Convertible bras offer a perfect solution. Convertible bras have removable straps that can be worn in different ways – including crisscrossed. Because of this, they have longer straps than regular bras.
5. Balconette Bra
Balconette bras have cups that are cut horizontally across the bust. This is a beautiful cup style that’s particularly flattering to wide rib cages and/or wide set breasts.
Most balconette bras are padded, so they’re also great for giving “the girls” some extra oomph.
6. Wireless Bra
Underwire bras offer maximum support, so they’re ideal if you wear breast forms. However, they can be hard to fit if you have a wide chest.
Consider wearing a wireless bra instead. Wireless bras have a more forgiving fit, so they’re much more comfortable.
If you want to wear a soft cup bra with breast forms, look for a wireless pocketed bra or attach the breast forms to your chest with tape or adhesive.
7. Adhesive Bra
Adhesive bras are a backless, strapless bra style that’s attached to the breasts with adhesive.
These bras are fabulous for creating cleavage, so they’re a must for your femme wardrobe. (Click here to learn more about how to create cleavage with an adhesive bra.)
In conclusion
While you don’t need to limit yourself to these 7 bra styles (the sky’s the limit in bra land!), they’re a great place to start.
Now I’d like to hear about YOUR favorite bras. Is there a particular bra style or brand that works for you?

I love this and most all of your postings, please keep it up as we all need and want these.
In most of the posts that I see they almost always use Genetic Female models. It would be nice if instead they used real world Genetic Male models instead, as this is more realestic to most of us girls. Many of us are over weight and out of shape, but to show what we can do would be very helpful and inspiring.
Thanks, and lots of Love

Cindy: I am over weight but I don’t care ! That just makes my BRA wearing the right thing to do ! I now NEED to wear a BRA and I am happy about wearing BRAS ! Since I love PLAYTEX BRAS it has become a pleasure to wear one !
Hi I’m Lory from Italy. Honestly bras are not a problem to me .I buy and wear normal bras and I love them so much ..can’t live without ! Many italian kisses for all you girls
My absolute favorite bra style is the demi-cup, or balconette, style that is both padded and push-up. I have developed my own soft, rounded breast tissue over the last several years – and having my breasts lifted and pressed together in a soft, pretty, elegantly-appointed bra like this is such a wonderful feeling, and looks so amazing under a deep scoop-neck or V-neck clingy knit-top or sweater-top.
I feel incredibly feminine when my tits are lifted and pressed into deep cleavage, and sitting right there out in front for me to be so aware of all day or night long. And, when the tops of my jiggly flesh and cleavage are “peeking” out subtly from the neckline of a pretty top, it adds such a wonderful visual for everyone to notice immediately that clearly says “feminine”, “woman”, “girly” ….. and this boosts my confidence in passing.
I have 5 such bras (36B padded, push-up, demi-cup/balconette) in white, ivory, soft pastel-blue, soft pastel pink, and black. I have bought them all at higher-end lingerie sections in Macy’s and Nordstrom department stores, and they usually have more fancy-elaborate styling, with pretty lace overlays or flowers or leaves, satin bows, and faux pearls.
I love that they are heavy, substantial garments to put on, and they keep me constantly aware and feeling oh so feminine when I have these very pronounced rounded shapes jutting out right in front across my chest, and that demi-style cup hides just below the neckline, leaving the soft, bouncy flesh to jiggle as I walk and move. I can glance down anytime and see my breasts and my deep cleavage, and that keeps me in a very feminine-girly-womanly mindset.
I have several favorites. Love the Bali front closure and Bali wireless bras. Also really like maidenform t-shirt bra.
Hi Lucille,
Your recommendations are interesting and I’m guessing they were based on bras most suitable for a wide body, The adhesive bra (like nu-bra) works better when you wear a full coverage bra over it. And I’m surprised that the full coverage bra, preferably wired, was not included in your list, especially if you wear forms. The balconette is lovely but really doesn’t provide much support. The convertible and front closure bras are good choices although the front closure tends to be limited in styles and colors. My bra of choice is a gorgeous black balconette bra. It helps to give me a great definition under my blouse.
Very, very informative reading, Lucille.
My Brother got me wearing PLAYTEX 4693 FULL FIGURE BRAS ! His wife help us bye them.
I personally love wearing a full coverage bra with my 38D breast forms. Pocket bras work well but I like to feel the twins against my skin. The full coverage bras keep everything pointing in the correct direction including the nipples. Full coverage bras can be found in underwire or natural cup – lace covered or smooth texture for tee shirts, etc. Also many of these bras come with matching panties – a must for me because everything has to match underneath my clothing. Thanks Lucille for your love & caring. Kimberlee
