Stepping out publicly as a woman is a powerful way to validate your female self.
In fact, I recently published a poll asking “How often do you go out in public as a woman?”
I was happy to see that the majority of my readers (transgender women and crossdressers) go out at least occasionally.
No matter how often you do it, I’m sure you can remember your first time presenting as a woman or crossdressing in public.
Since this is such an important gender-affirming step, I’d love to hear about it!
When was it? Where did you go? And what was your experience?
Please share with us in the comments below!
And if you’ve never been en femme in public, I’m sure you’ll find lots of inspiration in these stories.
As always, thank you for reading and participating!
Love,
Lucille

I would say tyhe first time was on halloween back in 1998. The second time I was out enfemme for more than a quick outing was for the pride celebration and parade in San Diego in 2011. I had an absolute blast
I had gone out a few times driving a vehicle or walking in a park where no one would see me. It was thrilling. The first time I relly made an effort to present as a woman was 2 years ago. I went on a car trip for family reasons and I spent the entire drive (2 days) as a women. I got gas, went in stores, ate at restaurants and checked into a motel as a women. I even went to a bar in the evening for a sandwich and a drink. It was the most thrilling experience. I felt safe because no one would recognize me. I know some people picked me out as a crossdresser but I did not care.
The first time I went out as a woman was Halloween 2012. I put on a little make up and a wig. I wore a sweater, jeans and tennis shoes. I then got into my car and drove around for a couple of hours. It was pretty dark so I don’t think anyone noticed me. I did the same last year and plan to do it again this year. That’s probably about as brave as I’ll ever get.
Love the thought of a wig and make-up.
But jeans and a top and pumps is not a particularly feminine look.
why not try a knee length skirt with a satin blouse sexy tights and heeled court shoes ???
it would make you look and feel more like a woman.

My first time out as a woman was when my wife decided it was time for Veronica to go out. We went out as two women, booked a motel room at a Holiday Inn that had a restaurant and a bar. We ate dinner, and we went to the bar for drinks. Both of us were repeatedly hit upon by the business men that were there. I was nervous, but after a few drinks, (most of which were sent to our table by the men at the bar), I was fine and I was enjoying the attention we were recieving. It was also fun to see how men react to the presence of two women who appear to be alone or who may be looking for private fun. It was the first of many other times that we went out together.

The first time I went out was quite a few years ago, I was in my early 30’s and I was not passable. But it was still fun. For the details; it was late at night & I went to a tg friendly place where they had a midnight drag queen show. I wore a short green skirt with a white blouse, white fishnets and white high heels. I remember some guy looking at me from the corner of his eye and within a couple of seconds realized I was a guy. I went out alot after that for a few years and slowly got a little better. I was not able to go out for about fifteen years. In this past year I like to think I have made great strides.
Fair warning: Once you’ve gone out, you’ll want to keep going out!!

Thank you Jesin!
I have always been not comfortable about my experiencxe. I ama fill figured girl so I try to compensate by my clothing and make up. Years ago I went out a couple times and feel I did not feel I looked nice. I sweore to never go out again until I could make a reasonable appeareance. Finally a good female friend offered to do my make up. Tghe plan was to attend a Fet Club Xmas party. She would not let me look in a mirror until she was completely finished. When I did, for the first time inb my life I saw a woman in the mirror and all fear and nerves flew out the window. I was competely accepted and wildly complimented. Was the best night of my life.
