Choosing the right words to describe your gender identity can feel tricky. For transgender and non-binary people, finding a label that fits is personal and important.
Using respectful language matters. Outdated or offensive terms can hurt, so it’s okay to set boundaries about how others address you.
At the same time, you are more than a label. What matters most is how you choose to define yourself, no matter where you are on the gender spectrum.
Do you have a label that feels right – like crossdresser, transgender woman, non-binary, or something else?
I’d love to hear your thoughts, so let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille
I consider myself Gender non-conforming. Somedays I feel like presenting as male and somedays I present as female. I feel both ways inside so it is not a problem for me. So I guess I would fall on the trans scale some place. I just consider myself Gender-Queer.

HELLO I LABEL MYSELF AS TRANSENDERED RIGHT NOW. I DRESS FOR FUN AND GOING OUT NOW AND THEN BUT I AM PREPARING TO TRANSTITION FULL TIME INN THE NEAR FUTURE. I HAVE NEVER FELT ANY GUILT ABOUT THIS OR MYSELF AND AM A CONFIDENT WOMAN ALL THE TIME. NO ONE SHOULD FEEL GUILTY FOR WHO THEY ARE! THANKS, DANA
Gorgeous!!!!
I identify as transgender (at least for now), but I expect to begin transition soon. I really hope one day, I completed it and can call myself woman with all confidence.
I am a trans activist and proud to be trans. I believe being able to live your life from both sides gives you a unique vision of life. I am 2 years post-op so I identify myself as a transwoman if the situation warrants it. Otherwise in common conversation with strangers who don’t know I am trans I just relate as a woman.
HEY MAM
IM A FEM C ROSSDRESSR AND THAT’S WHAT ILL ALWAYS BE AS MY LADIES ACCEPT ME THAT WAY AS ONE OF THEIR OWN AND TREAT ME AS THE LADY IM TRYING TO BE
ALLISON
My bff’s consider me a woman. I like that best.
Crossdressing, is went wearing the clothes of the other sex, woman do this all the time like when they wear pants.Transvestite is sexual they get off by wearing the clothes of other sex, crossdressers do not.
I would prefer to be label less. There are other societies where boys are raised as girls from childhood and it is fully accepted. Yet in our Western Society we must apply a label to identify ourselves. Transvestite sounds like a disease and cross dresser sounds more like what male homosexuals do for entertainment.
If I must choose a label then Transgender it must be. Although I am not passable and I don’t attempt to try, I love going out dressed feminine, that is in a dress or a skirt/top. Other times its gender neutral female clothing, i.e., Ladies jeans, pants, shoes. The only way to tell the difference most of the time is to check the label. Or to check which side the buttons are on.
