Age is a popular topic around here and I’m occasionally asked…
“Am I too old to crossdress?” or “Am I too old to transition as a transgender woman?”
My response?
NO, of course not!
Whether you are a so-called mature crossdresser – or an older MTF woman beginning her transition – it is NEVER too late to be your true female self.
I believe that the true desires or your heart are meant to be expressed – no matter how long they’ve been buried.
Is it true that your age may have an impact on hormone therapy or surgery? Yes, that’s possible. But a good doctor will guide you on your best and safest options.
The fact remains that you can transition and/or present yourself as a woman at any point in life.
In fact, embracing your feminine side can give you a whole new lease on life…
I see it all the time: People seem to grow years younger when they make the decision to be themselves fully.
Having the courage to express your true self also inspires others to do the same. The world needs more of this!
In the words of Laverne Cox:
“It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.”
I’ll say it again: You are NEVER too old to be your true female self.
So, I encourage you to take that next step and do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.
You deserve it. And it’s not too late!
Do you agree that age is just a number?
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic…
How old were you when you decided to fully embrace your female self? (Or are you still waiting?)
Let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille

Hi Lucille, I was 54 when I started to transition in “06” and just yesterday I was saying to a friend of mine that I really feel like my life BEGAN at that time. That’s when I discovered that Peace and Happiness truly comes from within and not from external things. Other than things pertaining to my children ( and Grandchildren )I barely even think of my past life. My personal experience is that I never knew what happiness was Until I transitioned and I am so glad that I did it. I love my life now and I would never even think of going back. I would encourage girls everywhere to be themselves and don’t be afraid!!!

Well I am a 43 year old part time cross dresser. Unfortunately I do not have the full support of my spouse and I continue to dress in secret. This has prevented me from taking hormones. I know its not about the parts but I think I would feel more complete with breasts. i have ordered the flat to fem program but didn’t stick to it like i should have. Now that I am getting older I thought that I may be too old to continue but it seems that the older i get the younger and more fem I look. I think i will start back on the herbals and exercises. Reading some of the testimonies I need to do this for me. Of course I will be sensitive of my spouse and children but I believe this is the move for me. I don’t think that age should ever be a factor. I am forever young.
Wow you’re too good looking to stay as you are,
you’re wasting time.
But I understand it’s not easy is it!
Hi Domannique – I was very moved by your response. Don’t lose faith and keep going.
Wow you look amazing confident and sexy.
Thanks Elizabeth. I have many friends that support me and it is great. Even through the years where I purged my things and swore it off. I always came back to my true self. This is a part of me and it’s not going anywhere. I just need to hopefully get my spouse on board one day but if not i do have a great support system. I have often thought about if things don’t work out between me and my wife will I go full time? The answer is I would probably go from 40% to 60-75%. Thank you again for your support.
Hi Lucille! Love your website and all your helpful posts!! 🙂
Like Jennie (earlier commenter), I have been cross dressing since I was 11. So, age has never really been a factor for me. There were a number of years when I had hung up my heels… I was going through one of those crisis things where one steps out of herself to gain some perspective… I had been on HRT and transitioning into full time for almost a year, when I began to realize that abandoning my male self completely wasn’t the right path for me and that I felt more complete as a part-time woman living in balance. It took a while to sort all that out and be OK with my decisions. Now at 40 (!), I have begun fully embracing all of who I am, have since revamped my wardrobe and am now getting reaquainted with my more mature femme self.
I am nearly 60, and have been on HRT for a few months, after using your Flat to Fem program for about 5 years previous to that. I am on vacation for most of February, and “Stepped out” for the first time EVER, on Valentines day. I stayed full time for a week, and LOVED EVERY minute. I was so depressed when I had to go back to drab, (necessary for several reasons).
What can I do to grow breasts?

My 59th birthday coming up soon and I feel happy and young when I dress the way I feel. Don’t hold back. Everyone has one life. Enjoy it with no regrets.
I think it’s truly up to the individual and age should not matter. I personally feel comfortable where I am at this point of my life. If I was younger I may have opted to pursue SRS. For those people who choose to do it at any age there should be no limit to what one must do to achieve happiness, the moral reason for being.
Nonetheless a very interesting blog. Good job Lucille!
WOW, you look great! Just how young/old are you?
Ha ha … thank you. I am a middle aged gal who’s trying to be the best I can be. 🙂
