Age is a popular topic around here and I’m occasionally asked…
“Am I too old to crossdress?” or “Am I too old to transition as a transgender woman?”
My response?
NO, of course not!
Whether you are a so-called mature crossdresser – or an older MTF woman beginning her transition – it is NEVER too late to be your true female self.
I believe that the true desires or your heart are meant to be expressed – no matter how long they’ve been buried.
Is it true that your age may have an impact on hormone therapy or surgery? Yes, that’s possible. But a good doctor will guide you on your best and safest options.
The fact remains that you can transition and/or present yourself as a woman at any point in life.
In fact, embracing your feminine side can give you a whole new lease on life…
I see it all the time: People seem to grow years younger when they make the decision to be themselves fully.
Having the courage to express your true self also inspires others to do the same. The world needs more of this!
In the words of Laverne Cox:
“It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.”
I’ll say it again: You are NEVER too old to be your true female self.
So, I encourage you to take that next step and do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.
You deserve it. And it’s not too late!
Do you agree that age is just a number?
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic…
How old were you when you decided to fully embrace your female self? (Or are you still waiting?)
Let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille

I am 52 yrs old and have been crossdressing since probably 10 yrs old. Grew up on the farm and had all brothers – so it was mom’s closet that I usually had to sneak from. The first 25 years of my marriage I would buy, dress and purge so many times… In the real early years, my wife would work evenings – so when it was just my toddlers and I at home at night – Daddy would dress up “funny”. The kids at that age thought it was great. They would be put to bed long before their mom got home from work and typically would forget all about it by morning. So my secret was safe. As the kids grew though – I had to hide it more – typically working late at the office alone myself or on business trips became my Ashley time.
Currently the majority of my everyday clothing is female – just very gender neutral looking – all of my jeans are women’s 16M (tags cut out) my underwear are panties (wash them myself), my shoes are women’s 13w(tennis shoes, loafers, work boots) Because of my snoring was keeping my wife awake at night, 2 yrs ago we agreed on separate bedrooms so she could sleep… So in my room behind closed doors, I sleep in a nightgown, bra and breast forms every night. for the sake of my one child still living at home no ones knows this… it is all hidden behind closed doors.
But the last 3 years the kids have grown up – 3 of the 4 are moved out of the house… so I have been leaving small “clues” around the house more often for my wife… also suggestions for fun date night ideas – the two of us to maybe swap clothes and go out… hints at wanting to try makeup nights, etc… also Leaving my closet door open with a few female clothes hidden between my regular male clothes. She has not said anything to me yet – but I suspect she does know about my alter self, she is just choosing to ignore it right now. Maybe she will one day be open to it – maybe she won’t. Only Time will tell.
Hi Ashley
Funny story about “wife suspects”….I do all the laundry and from time to time panties get mixed up…a few nights ago wifely and were getting dressed to go out…I found a pair of panties folded on the bed????? When I picked them up they were size 8 (my size) she takes size 5 or 6…..oops ….she never said a word ….but she knows
Very common of us CDs, to do what you have described. We have all “bought &purged “, multiple times. . . Trying to deny the obvious. We ALL DESERVE to dress in feminine cloak. I have been told by one Phychologist it is”pathological “. Fortunately he was in a severely minor percentage / religious right.
Enjoy being You! !
I have been cross-dressing for over 20 years; I also go on those spells to dump all and buying again; maybe one day I’ll come out all dress up. When I dress ip I feel pretty and sexy.
Kisses
Gaby
Gaby….you present yourself quite well!
I started realizing that I loved to cross dress approximately 20 years ago. However, I had guilt and was a purger…I would purchase $100’s of clothes…accessories….lingerie only to chuck it in the dumpster. I did this a half dozen times….I seeked out therapy 10 years ago and couldn’t go to the 2nd session. Last year in October ‘my Jennie” came on real hard and this time I said things will be different…I’ve been under therapy for awhile now and the therapist has just given me “the letter” …the only problem is I’m married and still basically “in the closet” ….however I’m working on it. BTW I turned 65 this year!
I think you look fabulous sweetie, you go girl!
Jennie Jaye you look ridiculous with your butt hanging out not very lady like just saying Jennifer
Hi Jennifer…lets consider the forum here.
Just to say thank you so much. I can attest that there isn’t any age point to transition. Especially when I have the support of the person I care the most about, my 19 yr old daughter.
Mine is a life experience which started maybe 40 years ago when gender-fluidity was not discussed. (My how the world has changed).
Thank You with all my heart, Sincerely, Chelle Kane
I transitioned to full-time at age 72…!! You are never to old..!! I’m 76 now and have put all my ducks in a row for surgery, soon to be scheduled by the U of Mich. I identified as a crossdresser for over 35 years on a part-time basis and knew what it was like to be in a public situation. Since transitioning , I have had no problems (except a few very minor ones of my own making) and have found many new friends among both the straight (cis) community and the trans community. I.ve been on the hormones for over four years and watched my bra size go from a 36A (almost B) to a 38 DD !!
Hi Grace,
Remember me? Long tiime ago.Marsha James from lansing. The book mirror image. I still dress some, but under dress all time. Wife still not very excepting. Tried to increase my bust with mp, but still 48A. Don’t know as if I would want DD’s,but C would be nice. I am 76 and still love the feel of silk. Corselettes are my favorite, but hard to find. Would be nice to Have an old fashion hour corselette. Enough for now. Marsha.
I love dressing as a woman. I have been wearing girl things since I was five years old. As I got older I started buying my own dresses, wigs, bras, panties, makeup, gaffs, breast Silicone pads, feminine jewelry, french nails, painted toe nails, pierced ears, lingerie to sleep in. Of course stockings, high heels 5 inches are higher. I go out all the time. My neighbors got mad, but who cares. I wear the clothes I want, and they are women clothes, as I am a transgender woman. Kisses, Charlotte Deneice
I certainly love your look here in this quick pic you posted.
It shows how deep you feel and the beauty inside of your story.

Lucille,
I am so happy that you’re here for us. I’ve been crossdressing since I was about 11 years old, I’m currently 38. I’ve been crossdressing since I was about 11, as I’ve said, but I’ve had feminine thoughts since I was about 7 years old. I dont want to transition, afraid is more to the point, because I dont want to face the negative of others. So in a sense, I’m kind of trapped by my own fears.
Indeed, age is a state of mind. But, the more that you think you are “old” the more your body responds to that thinking. Think “I am YOUNG” not “I do not want to be old.” The second thought emphasizes old. Always think young.
