Wearing lingerie is a guaranteed way to feel feminine. Best of all, it’s something you can indulge in on a daily basis.
What are the lingerie pieces every trans woman or crossdresser should own?
I’ve compiled a list of 10 must-have transgender / crossdressing lingerie items that should be part of your MTF wardrobe. Read on to learn more!
1. Basic Black Or Nude Bra
Every girl needs a basic bra, so a simple nude or black bra is a must.
If you’re having trouble finding your size, try the Leading Lady Lightly Padded Contour Underwire Bra. It comes in a wide range of sizes that would fit most crossdressers and transgender women. (Band sizes 36-54, cup sizes A-G)
2. Panty Gaff
For a flat and feminine look, a panty gaff is your best friend. A gaff is an undergarment designed to offer a smooth and tucked appearance. Here are a few options:
- Gold Seal Gaff by The Dress Form Store
- Super Strong Hiding Gaff by Suddenly Fem
- Thong Gaff by Glamour Boutique
3. Shaping Camisole
Who couldn’t benefit from a little mid-section slimming? A shaping camisole can help you slim down your waist and stomach without constricting you like a corset or girdle would. I like the camisoles from Yummie, which go up to a size 3x.
4. Padded Panty
If you crave feminine curves (and who doesn’t?), padded panties offer an instant solution. Your options range from light lifting to full-on hip and butt shaping. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Light shaping – Ulta Sheer Padded Panty by FeelFoxy
- Medium shaping – The Glamour Gal Silicone Hip and Butt Padded Shaper
- Full shaping – Veronicas by Classic Curves
5. Nude Or Black Pantyhose
While women don’t wear pantyhose as often as they used to, pantyhose looks more polished than bare skin and enhances the appearance of your legs. Your lingerie wardrobe should definitely include a pair of black and/or nude hose.
6. Slinky Nightie
There’s nothing like slipping into a slinky nightgown to make you feel extra feminine. Whether you prefer long or short, you should own at least one silky nightie. Or better yet, buy a few in different lengths and colors.
7. Basic Panties
Sometimes simple is best! Whether you prefer thongs, bikinis, or briefs, you should own at least a few basic panties.
8. Sexy Bra And Panty Set
While the basics are important, half the fun of lingerie is expressing your sensual side. That’s why no wardrobe is complete without at least one super sexy bra and panty set.
9. Nubra
The Nubra is an adhesive bra that’s fantastic for creating cleavage. Since it’s backless and strapless, it can be worn alone or under another bra. To learn how to create feminine cleavage with the Nubra, see my post on How to Get Feminine MTF Cleavage.
10. Silk Or Satin Robe
A silk or satin robe is a classic boudoir piece that will make you feel ultra feminine. You should have at least one so you have something sensual to slip into when you are at home.
Let’s talk lingerie!
It was hard to narrow this list to just 10 items, so I’d love to hear your thoughts…

ive tried and dont like gaffs
i wear bonds cotton bikini panties
i wear a 87 in work shorts, wear size 8 (bit tight) size 10 works well
wear 2 or 3 pairs at once, holds all in very well
Have all of those items except for the gaff and nu-bra, I usually wear a sanitary napkin in my panties for that smooth look plus it helps if there are any leaks to keep it from showing.
Hi Sharon
I’ve been reading the posts from everyone and you are the first one to say that you wear a sanitary napkin in your panties.
I’m proud of you for your honestly. I to do the same thing.
I found that it helps to give me a consistent reminder to walk and sit like a lady
And it keeps my panties fresh and stain free
Thanks for being honest
Hugs
Janine
What I wear t make me feel feminine is pantyhose also but I also like the nylon stockings that just come up past the knee. I have several pairs of these and they are great. I always look forward to my 2 days off of work cos I can dress feminine on my weekend and it makes me feel like the woman I am.
“Mike”…Nylons are great…But Bras are the best.
Don’t get me wrong I love wearing bras also.
When I first saw this in my email, I thought “lingerie?? I’m not interested in sexy undergarments!” But when I read the post, I found that I had much of what was suggested already and found them to be just the ordinary sorts of things I wear without giving them much thought.
This is significant for me because I don’t see these as “women’s things,” rather they are “my things…”
…I know the daily joy of having a well-fitting bra in a color that works with my outer outfit. As a trans woman, I’ve long ago found I can have a smooth mons using panties a size smaller than if I was a cis female, and I don’t really give it any thought because it’s my everyday experience…
…I walk past a Victoria’s Secret with nary a glance because I’m most sexy nude. Only a silky nightie might be nice because of its warmth and texture!
…I’m not sure what this says of me, except possibly that being a woman has in many ways become passé to me. It’s still special, and I cherish it, but it’s also become my 24/7 life and I’ve “settled-in” for the long-haul.
Yes! I love this. Your secure with yourself! It’s so beautiful. I just feel so happy today realizing that when you lead your life honestly you just feel good about yourself!
*So true* so true!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Had never even heard of a gaff. Not sure the picture does them justice though.. very little reinforcement on show.. surely they need to be tight and stiff? X
“Andy”…My Gaff is “Quite Comfy”…It sure makes me “Feel Like A Woman”…My Girdle also works for me.
Tight, generally; stiff, no. 🙂
“Tucking” is the process by which we change a masculine pubic profile into a feminine one.
It usually involves gently pushing the testes into their inguinal canals (where they descended from), then pulling the penis back into the gluteal cleft (toward the anus), over and dividing the scrotum. Done well, you have a nice feminine pudendal cleft. (Mine is good enough that I can change clothes openly with other women.) There is a wide variation in the appearance of female vulvas, so chances are very good that, if you don’t call attention to it, you will pass just fine…
…The trick is holding yourself together. For this people often use a “gaff,” but I simply wear a pair of bikini-style panties one size too small. If I want extra security, I wear two pairs. Since I’ve been doing this for years as a trans woman, I’ve learned to hold my tuck nude, even as I walk around. This is why I can change openly with other women, and how I am able to be a Life Model for art students. Just practice in a safe space so you learn what you can do and understand your limitations.
PS) I’ve read tucking technique that involve taping the genitalia – I’d avoid this: first it’s really not necessary, and second it’s a colossal pain when you need to use the bathroom! Maybe it’s okay if you are occasionally cross dressing, but if you live 24/7 as a woman, you want simple, easy & inexpensive, and the “right sized” panties do just fine!
Oh, I should also point-out that you shouldn’t worry if you still have a bit of a pubic bulge: natal women have this also – it’s called their “mons” (mons pubis or mons veneris – “mountain of Venus”). It’s the pad of fat the grows over the pubic bone and cushions sexual intercourse. (BTW, trans women on hormones develops these also). Anyway, if you observe (discretely) you will see many women have a bit of pubic bulge. 🙂
Hi Miss Lucille , I love wearing silk lacy panties , Thigh hi Stayup Silk Stockings , Long lacy silk nightgowns , Womens Blouses and Shirts . I Love being feminine . I love wearing Womens Clothes . I also wear womens perfume . I have 6 Bottles of perfume . I love them all. I want to be a Woman .
“Clayton”…Do you wear a Bra ? …My Bras always makes me feel like a Woman.
I don’t have a pic but I just love the bra panty and garter skirt set I got at journelle. It’s so so pretty. I wore it and a friend commented that it was so beautiful several times. I can’t say enough about that store, and so respectful of me as well. They have a beautiful selection of different brands. They are not cheap but if you love beautiful things go check it out. I was a size medium panty and a size 36 bra I use an extender and J don’t use breast forms cause right now I am not trying to pass. I’m just trying to be open and honest that I feel like a woman and it makes me feel good to wear feminine things. I have decided I am not a man with a feminine side. I am me. And I am feminine! So there. Thanks for the chance to respond.
I can’t believe I am replying to myself but it’s just because K am really starting to feel. Ore confident about myself in general and my gender expression!!! Here’s one more pic of me posing with my silks wearing journelle lingerie!
I love Journelle! And I love how you put this:
Yes I can’t say enough it’s just awesome. I was afraid that nothing would fit me but it did. I’m so happy! Some of their bras are cut a little small so if you have a wide chest hey don’t look right but some look great. I decided to take a deep breath and post this picture of myself wearing it. I looked it up and it’s called Francesca and it is made by them!
I Clayton Vereen also am very feminine . I love feminity………….. Clayton Vereen
