Wearing lingerie is a guaranteed way to feel feminine. Best of all, it’s something you can indulge in on a daily basis.
What are the lingerie pieces every trans woman or crossdresser should own?
I’ve compiled a list of 10 must-have transgender / crossdressing lingerie items that should be part of your MTF wardrobe. Read on to learn more!
1. Basic Black Or Nude Bra
Every girl needs a basic bra, so a simple nude or black bra is a must.
If you’re having trouble finding your size, try the Leading Lady Lightly Padded Contour Underwire Bra. It comes in a wide range of sizes that would fit most crossdressers and transgender women. (Band sizes 36-54, cup sizes A-G)
2. Panty Gaff
For a flat and feminine look, a panty gaff is your best friend. A gaff is an undergarment designed to offer a smooth and tucked appearance. Here are a few options:
- Gold Seal Gaff by The Dress Form Store
- Super Strong Hiding Gaff by Suddenly Fem
- Thong Gaff by Glamour Boutique
3. Shaping Camisole
Who couldn’t benefit from a little mid-section slimming? A shaping camisole can help you slim down your waist and stomach without constricting you like a corset or girdle would. I like the camisoles from Yummie, which go up to a size 3x.
4. Padded Panty
If you crave feminine curves (and who doesn’t?), padded panties offer an instant solution. Your options range from light lifting to full-on hip and butt shaping. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Light shaping – Ulta Sheer Padded Panty by FeelFoxy
- Medium shaping – The Glamour Gal Silicone Hip and Butt Padded Shaper
- Full shaping – Veronicas by Classic Curves
5. Nude Or Black Pantyhose
While women don’t wear pantyhose as often as they used to, pantyhose looks more polished than bare skin and enhances the appearance of your legs. Your lingerie wardrobe should definitely include a pair of black and/or nude hose.
6. Slinky Nightie
There’s nothing like slipping into a slinky nightgown to make you feel extra feminine. Whether you prefer long or short, you should own at least one silky nightie. Or better yet, buy a few in different lengths and colors.
7. Basic Panties
Sometimes simple is best! Whether you prefer thongs, bikinis, or briefs, you should own at least a few basic panties.
8. Sexy Bra And Panty Set
While the basics are important, half the fun of lingerie is expressing your sensual side. That’s why no wardrobe is complete without at least one super sexy bra and panty set.
9. Nubra
The Nubra is an adhesive bra that’s fantastic for creating cleavage. Since it’s backless and strapless, it can be worn alone or under another bra. To learn how to create feminine cleavage with the Nubra, see my post on How to Get Feminine MTF Cleavage.
10. Silk Or Satin Robe
A silk or satin robe is a classic boudoir piece that will make you feel ultra feminine. You should have at least one so you have something sensual to slip into when you are at home.
Let’s talk lingerie!
It was hard to narrow this list to just 10 items, so I’d love to hear your thoughts…

hi i have all that you spoke of and a lot more.i dont thank that thongs are sexy in way shape or form and from what i have seen of most guys in them .no no no it makes there backs look more manly…i find them to be very uncomfortable and can not sport the man junk.i was shocked that you did not have a teddy on there or a long gown.oh and on hoses there are so many in prints that go with any jean skirt with the right top…but thats just me and thats what makes yours so great..thanks lucille
I just adore your Top 5 Pieces of Lingerie Lucille. And overall this was an interesting blog.I do not have them yet but will be placing in my wardrobe very shortly . will let you know when they willbe in my possesion . Thanks again for information.
Interesting blog, but you left out one item. That item is a corset.I personally have several underbusts.when I first put one on,yes it was uncomfortable, but wearing it for just an hour for the first couple of days and gradually wearing it for longer and longer I can now wear it all day.the shape it produces and the feeling is amazing.
The corsets of today come in all type of materials and colours so I’m sure there is one to suit every one.Just one word of caution don’t by cheap you would only be wasting your money. That is a mistake I made
G xx
Yea, I love the thong panties – like you say ‘light and sexy’ – I agree – my concern would be about hiding the male parts which I hope is do-able. The robe would be fantastic at night over the lingerie while lounging at home relaxing – don’t have that yet but it is something I will consider. The website http://www.yandy.com/panties.php#/?p=1 has all the panties in styles one could ever imagine ( and all displayed on beautiful models ). Anyway, thanks for the good tips – I already have a waist cincher so I probably won’t need the shaping camisole – but, then again, I suppose the camisole would be more comfortable.
I agree with most of the items and do have most, or variations thereof.
I personally don’t like nude underwear, prefer black or white… though I have recently moved down a breastform size to something more realistic so am bra shopping again and so have a lovely navy one which is a perfect fit with lace covering the form entirety so no silicone visible. I don’t have T-shirt bras though – been wearing T-shirts all my life, now when dressed/out as Andrea much prefer girly tops/blouses.
Like Lynn Amanda, thongs may be suitable for a G-girl like u Lucille, but I really don’t think thongs are appropriate when there are unwanted genitalia to conceal… but I appreciate that it’s subjective. I wear m&s full briefs under control pants.
I have loads of pairs of tights/hose, many are black, some are patterned… which I think look great under jeans.
I no longer have anything to slim in the middle, so I just wear cotton-mix (with elastene, or whatever it’s called) body-hugging camisole tops which, although thin, I find keep me lovely and warm in winter.
I have a satin nightdress with matching robe.
All good suggestion thank you
No doubt that day to day or on special occasions lingerie always makes me feel sexy. I have a wide array of all of your suggested pieces and love my selection of one piece bodysuits as well. I recommend them in almost any material and you can find them with full backs or thong depending on what you like most. My fav is a form fitting with thong back and breast pockets which lets me wear them in or out…..love them!
I love the lingerie list you’ve compiled, I personally have three of the five. Although I like the satin robe very much, and it is now on my wish list for the new year. As for the bottom wear (it is my opinion) that because of the anatomical differences a thong is not always very comfortable for many TG women. Overall this was an interesting blog, thanks Lucille!
