If you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman, you know how tricky it can be to strike a balance between sexy and stylish – especially as you get older.
Does that mean you need to turn down your sex appeal after a certain age? Absolutely not! Everyone deserves to feel sexy and confident at any stage of life.
However, dressing sexy isn’t necessarily about wearing mini skirts and sky-high heels, especially as you age. Remember, there’s a fine line between sexy and slutty!
The key is to present yourself in a way that’s both stylish and sexy, while complementing your age and body type.
In this blog post, I’ll share my top 3 crossdressing and MTF fashion tips to help you embrace your sexy side at any age.
Rule #1: Show Some Skin (Just Not Too Much)
While short skirts and low-cut tops are undeniably sexy, it’s important not to go overboard. Here are a couple of guidelines to keep in mind:
- Your skirt should be no shorter than fingertip length when you stand with your arms at your sides. This ensures that you’re not revealing too much skin.
- Your top should show no more than 40% of your bust. This allows you to show off your assets in a tasteful and classy way, without overdoing it.
Remember, dressing sexy is all about finding the right balance between revealing and concealing.
Rule #2: Find the Right Proportions
Proportion is a crucial factor in how your clothes work together in terms of length, width, size, and volume. For example:
- A short skirt paired with a short top tends to look overtly revealing.
- A long skirt with a long top can appear frumpy.
- A full skirt with a full top may add visual weight.
- A tight skirt with a tight top can create an unflattering, sausage-like appearance (unless you have a flawless body!)
It’s important to strike the right balance in your outfit, so you should avoid going too far in any one direction.
If you opt for something tight or revealing, you should balance it out with the rest of your outfit. For example:
- A short skirt should be paired with a more covered top
- A skimpy top should be paired with a more covered bottom.
- A tight skirt should be paired with a fuller top.
- A tight top should be paired with a fuller skirt.
Rule #3: Wear Luxurious Fabrics
The fabrics you choose to wear is the final piece of the sexy puzzle.
When you hear the word “slutty,” you might picture a spandex skirt, a barely-there glitter top, and patent leather stripper boots.
On the other hand, “sexy” is often associated with luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet, lace, and cashmere.
When shopping for clothes, look for fabrics that are rich and sensuous – rather than cheap and tacky.
Final Thoughts…
The bottom line is that you can look sexy and feminine at any age. Just be sure to keep it classy.

I always have found your tips to be very helpful. Most of us TG’s don’t get the practice and experimentation with clothes and makeup as we grow up that every Gender lady gets. So we are all mostly on an accelerated learning curve. You have taken the role of big sister, mother and friend.
Thank you
Darlene, your photos are so good. The second one[fishnets] looked like a “glam makeover pic”. How often do you dress? Do you have a large [diverse] wardrobe? Have you purchased anything from Lucille? I think she is just the best.
Hugs, Denise
Always your message is very useful for the woman, specially for crossdressers and Transgender woman like me. Thank you for your support to me become as a real woman.
One of the best blogs you’ve ever posted! These are the basic principles I use over and over in explaining style and fashion sense to my TG friends. If more girls would adhere to these simple truths–and while they’re at it, genuinely commit to the importance of posture, gait, attitude and self-confidence–we might just be able to make the quantum leap from ridicule to acceptance. Thank you!!
Hi Lucille,
At last! Someone thinks of us ageing crossdressers. Like you said, it is always tempting to go sexy all the way, but once past the age of 50 I think one should be very careful. We need advice like yours and it is good to know you can dress your age and still be feminine and attractive. I think I have found the right balance thanks to my wife who always inspects me before I go for my neighbourhood walkabout. The thing I have hated downsizing are the high heels which of course I adore. My four-inch heels have gone and I now stick to no higher than two inches. Tough, but sensible.
You can compromise on your heels. On special occasions, you can wear 3″ heels which will look fantastic, give your bootie and legs a lift and are still sensible.
Thanks, Deborah, you are so right. I am particularly fascinated by high-heeled mules which I keep for special occasions at home or a friend’s party. xx
LUCILLE
I liked your article, but I love the mini mini skirts and high heels needle, I like to look sexy and flirty, modern and sexy, everything a girl wants to be.
I hope you understand me, dear, there are few moments that I can enjoy these transformations I want to live it to the fullest, hope I’m not falling into vulgarity.
Thank you
Luv that LBD and those back seamed fishnets!!!!
Lucille,
I must say, I do enjoy dressing sexy. Although, classy is more what I shoot for. After losing 35 lbs though I have found a new and most desirable look, and that is a tight dress with high heels. Now this is for clubbing and not going to the supermarket, but if that is how, and what makes you feel beautiful then why not do it. We only live once, so if ya got it, or not… Just be happy with who you are. Hugz n Love All
Hi Lucile,
As usual your advice is straight from fashion 101, if only they would listen. After blogging on TG fashion for 3 years now, I’m convinced that the greater share, particularly the occasional crossdresser, dresses to be sexy. One of your first posters more or less said this. They can hardly be blamed.
In a recent article in Refinery 29, French fashion gurus responded to the question about their gripe on how women dress today, and the answer was, “Some women are obsessed with looking sexy, and think that wearing tight clothes and huge heels will help. Looking sensual is better, and for that you don’t have to look like a sausage on a ladder!” Sound familiar?
Then there was a girl in McDonalds today wearing a short pleated black a-line skirt and a colorful tunic. From the back she looked very attractive. Then she turned around and a wrinkled crone at least 60 was what I saw. But then she was with a much younger guy. Go figure.
I addressed the subject last year on TG Forum here: http://www.tgforum.com/wordpress/index.php/do-you-think-im-sexy/. For some reason, tight, elastic, and short seems to be their view of sexy, but then look at some of the sites catering to CDs and see what they sell. They sell what CDs ask for. This is a chicken and egg situation if ever there was one.
For me, a flirty knee length skirt or a flowing midi where I can feel the skirt twirl around my legs is sensual and provides all the stimulation needed to feel feminine. Many agree with me but I’m not sure that I’m always preaching to the choir.
Keep up the good work
Hugs….Tasi
