If you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman, you know how tricky it can be to strike a balance between sexy and stylish – especially as you get older.
Does that mean you need to turn down your sex appeal after a certain age? Absolutely not! Everyone deserves to feel sexy and confident at any stage of life.
However, dressing sexy isn’t necessarily about wearing mini skirts and sky-high heels, especially as you age. Remember, there’s a fine line between sexy and slutty!
The key is to present yourself in a way that’s both stylish and sexy, while complementing your age and body type.
In this blog post, I’ll share my top 3 crossdressing and MTF fashion tips to help you embrace your sexy side at any age.
Rule #1: Show Some Skin (Just Not Too Much)
While short skirts and low-cut tops are undeniably sexy, it’s important not to go overboard. Here are a couple of guidelines to keep in mind:
- Your skirt should be no shorter than fingertip length when you stand with your arms at your sides. This ensures that you’re not revealing too much skin.
- Your top should show no more than 40% of your bust. This allows you to show off your assets in a tasteful and classy way, without overdoing it.
Remember, dressing sexy is all about finding the right balance between revealing and concealing.
Rule #2: Find the Right Proportions
Proportion is a crucial factor in how your clothes work together in terms of length, width, size, and volume. For example:
- A short skirt paired with a short top tends to look overtly revealing.
- A long skirt with a long top can appear frumpy.
- A full skirt with a full top may add visual weight.
- A tight skirt with a tight top can create an unflattering, sausage-like appearance (unless you have a flawless body!)
It’s important to strike the right balance in your outfit, so you should avoid going too far in any one direction.
If you opt for something tight or revealing, you should balance it out with the rest of your outfit. For example:
- A short skirt should be paired with a more covered top
- A skimpy top should be paired with a more covered bottom.
- A tight skirt should be paired with a fuller top.
- A tight top should be paired with a fuller skirt.
Rule #3: Wear Luxurious Fabrics
The fabrics you choose to wear is the final piece of the sexy puzzle.
When you hear the word “slutty,” you might picture a spandex skirt, a barely-there glitter top, and patent leather stripper boots.
On the other hand, “sexy” is often associated with luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet, lace, and cashmere.
When shopping for clothes, look for fabrics that are rich and sensuous – rather than cheap and tacky.
Final Thoughts…
The bottom line is that you can look sexy and feminine at any age. Just be sure to keep it classy.

I am a 56yo large guy trying to find my true fem style. I am a little over 6ft tall, about 27st with a 56″ waist, similar chest, although i find i seem to fit a 48D bra quite naturally. I do wear false breasts as most of my real ones seem to be at the side and even pulling it round with an underwire bra does not create a big enough breast size for a lady of my dimensions. I have tried most ways to create a better cleavage, not used tape yet, so i am aware that whatever top i wear i have to be careful about what is visible as i do not want to display my breastforms. I am about a dress size 32. Because of my age and size i steer clear of short skirts but love the look of A line or empire dresses, never sure what to wear and sometimes get so stressed i give up, any advice about what to wear and pass would be greatly appreciated

As always, excellent advice Lucille. I’ve been to too many TG conferences, conventions, events where so many gals are in glitter-spandex 1980’s clubbing dresses, or red leather micro-mini skirts and similar, and they’re just not age-appropriate or body-appropriate, or decade appropriate. Your DON’T and DO is right on – the electric blue shiny form-fitting can’t hold a candle to the timeless elegance or black lace over straps and a classic sheath dress. I think my very sexy outfits are: ivory lace overlay on ivory satin liner dress with nude or ivory thigh-highs and ivory flats – showing some slip and bra straps on my shoulders, nice form-fit but not skin-tight, and some lacy hemline over smooth legs to keep guys’ attention. Also, powder blue silk-rayon blend 2-piece skirt-jacket suit, expertly fitted with darts, great lines, dark thigh-highs and black flats or small 1″ heels is also very attention grabbing. Can never go wrong in black with black lace + black tights and heels. Showing “some” silky smooth leg is correct, but never too much or it doesn’t work. Great insights!!
Well I started to get that sexy look but I gained an inch on my lower and upper waist so now I’m less curvy and I’m still trying to learn how to dress sexy fore my age well I got some of it down but pairing tops with shirts is something I’m still learning. I guess I should start wearing my corset again to get my waist back to were it was and I wish my breasts were a cup size bigger to were I have cleavage I’m a small 32C and the shape prevents me form having cleavage how would I fix this with out augmentation etc.
Thanks for the sensible advice. I think it’s tempting at first to experiment like a teenager (hopefully in private). But if you pay attention to how ciswomen dress, especially those who dress well, you learn to dress more appropriately for each occasion. It’s more enjoyable if you’re able to dress and act so that you look relaxed and not overdo it.
Okay. Over the years I have been guilty of the “dressing too sexy” thing many times but I think I’ve found the right balance now. My legs are great but to show them off I wear jeans (either skinny or low-rise; since I am short waisted it looks good) or leggings.
Long, classic flowing dresses look good on me too because my waist is small and I have curves.
One thing to remember is that when you’re going out and you have an inkling that what you’re about to wear might be a tad too revealing or too sexy for the occasion, it probably is.
As far as dressing up, I have always followed how my ex wife dressed. Her dress style was conservative but stylish and elegant. She wore more luxurious fabrics like silks, cashmeres, etc. (I know, I paid for her wardrobe.)
As far as shoe heel heights, since I’m in my early 60’s and I wear 2 1/2 to 3″ heels for church, at parties and special occasions. At work, home, shopping, etc, it is the more sensible 2″ or even less. When I go shopping, I usually wear a nice pair of pants with a coordinating top or blouse and a pair of flats. At work, unless it happens to be a special luncheon or presentation, I normally wear 1-2″ heels with a pair of pants or pantsuit. With heels, I find myself following a rule: With pants, jeans, pantsuit, wear flats or short heels. With a dress or special occasions where I would wear pants, wear 3″ heels. I still own a couple pairs of 4″ heels but I have not worn them in some time.
Hi Lucille,
It is amazing how much better the “dos” look versus the “don’ts”. Thanks for teaching us to look better and to be more passable!
Tiffany
Thanks again Lucille for valuable advice!
