If you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman, you know how tricky it can be to strike a balance between sexy and stylish – especially as you get older.
Does that mean you need to turn down your sex appeal after a certain age? Absolutely not! Everyone deserves to feel sexy and confident at any stage of life.
However, dressing sexy isn’t necessarily about wearing mini skirts and sky-high heels, especially as you age. Remember, there’s a fine line between sexy and slutty!
The key is to present yourself in a way that’s both stylish and sexy, while complementing your age and body type.
In this blog post, I’ll share my top 3 crossdressing and MTF fashion tips to help you embrace your sexy side at any age.
Rule #1: Show Some Skin (Just Not Too Much)
While short skirts and low-cut tops are undeniably sexy, it’s important not to go overboard. Here are a couple of guidelines to keep in mind:
- Your skirt should be no shorter than fingertip length when you stand with your arms at your sides. This ensures that you’re not revealing too much skin.
- Your top should show no more than 40% of your bust. This allows you to show off your assets in a tasteful and classy way, without overdoing it.
Remember, dressing sexy is all about finding the right balance between revealing and concealing.
Rule #2: Find the Right Proportions
Proportion is a crucial factor in how your clothes work together in terms of length, width, size, and volume. For example:
- A short skirt paired with a short top tends to look overtly revealing.
- A long skirt with a long top can appear frumpy.
- A full skirt with a full top may add visual weight.
- A tight skirt with a tight top can create an unflattering, sausage-like appearance (unless you have a flawless body!)
It’s important to strike the right balance in your outfit, so you should avoid going too far in any one direction.
If you opt for something tight or revealing, you should balance it out with the rest of your outfit. For example:
- A short skirt should be paired with a more covered top
- A skimpy top should be paired with a more covered bottom.
- A tight skirt should be paired with a fuller top.
- A tight top should be paired with a fuller skirt.
Rule #3: Wear Luxurious Fabrics
The fabrics you choose to wear is the final piece of the sexy puzzle.
When you hear the word “slutty,” you might picture a spandex skirt, a barely-there glitter top, and patent leather stripper boots.
On the other hand, “sexy” is often associated with luxurious fabrics such as silk, velvet, lace, and cashmere.
When shopping for clothes, look for fabrics that are rich and sensuous – rather than cheap and tacky.
Final Thoughts…
The bottom line is that you can look sexy and feminine at any age. Just be sure to keep it classy.

Hi Lucille. I absolutely love all your suggestions for us girls out there. I’m one of the lucky girls who volunteers at the Utah Pride Center as receptionist. Getting to dress at least once a week as a female receptionist is wonderful. I would love to see more cross dressers be able to do what I get to do. Thank you for all that you do. Hugs Kelsey
that’s amazing !going to a job fully dressed must be so satisfying. way to go girl.
Thank you, Lucille, for that lovely advice! I don’t usually try to dress sexy, because it would probably look ridiculous! Well-l-l, sometimes, maybe, a little…, not too much for a chubby big old gal like me. But I frequently dress for FUN, and it sometimes gets gratifyingly interpreted as sexy. Heartwarming stuff! I know us liberated females should be offended by appreciative comments from the sidewalk guys, but, hey! It’s what us wannabe girls need. As Mehitabel says, however, “Always a lady, Archie, always a lady.”
very good tips thank you , I get lost sometimes looking for my lost teenage girl years and the things girls learn growing up ,never too late I guess ,keep the wisdom coming
Jennifer : Is that a “Glamour shot “??
You look Fabulous! Would love to see more outfits.
Enjoy my outfits. ..opinions appreciated

I’m in my early 40’s and like dressing my age. I wear a lot of black, which is cool since it’s the national colour. Black with long sleeves reduces the size of my shoulders and hides my arms, flared knee length skirts also give the illusion of hips which I love. Since it’s since winter here I also have good reason for knee length boots. I tend to go for the work / office look…
Great article, Lucille. I think one of the sexiest things any woman can wear is a smile. Whether you are out in public in a dress or jeans or shorts always remember to smile. People respond to a smile more than anything else. A smile lets people know that you are happy and non-threatening and friendly. If you are unaccustomed to having a great smile, practice in the mirror until it becomes 2nd nature to smile, smile, smile.

Dana,
I agree so much with you post! If you look at men and women, it is the women who smile. Most men are just out doing whatever they want to do. Women on the on the other hand, are out to socialize and be seen. Women can communicate with each other with just a glance and a smile if they are happy or a frown or neutral face if they are not so happy.
So go out there and SMILE girls!

I am nearly 79 and I love to wear smart elegant clothing. I love to dress glamorously, and if you sit in a bar with normal lighting I appear to be in my mid forties. I have a very trim and well shaped figure. The question is: I have several stylish and beautiful BLONDE wigs. They make me look especially glamorous; however, in the bright light my face shows some details of my age. I have few wrinkles, but the normal bags under my eyes. Question: should I be wearing such a bright stylish blonde wig, or should I use a more conservative color and style and not look so glamorous?

Just recently discovered your website and I absolutely love it!
You have so many great tips here and when you recommend doing something that you had figured out for yourself it really helps boost your confidence, which is my personal bugbear.

Hi Lucille,
Once again thank you for this valuable advice. I am in my late 60’s and tend to opt for stylish yet sophisticated look in all my purchases. In the last few years I only made one purchase of a gold style party dress that looked far too young for me. Even my wife hated it so I donated to the charity bag for someone less than half my age.
I always buy ‘below the knee’ dresses and skirts which brings out the best in my legs. I love high heals but keep it to a sensible height to avoid mishaps and to blend in.
Thank you again
Love Heather
Heather, Sweetie, you look marvelous!
We older girls can’t keep up with the young Foxes, but we do our best!
