If you enjoy crossdressing or embracing your feminine side as a transgender woman, you probably love the feeling of being all dolled up!
There are endless options for expressing your feminine style – whether your look is girly girl, classic, bombshell, or something entirely unique.
That said, there are definitely a few items that should be on your DO NOT WEAR list.
Whether you dress as a woman full time or just occasionally, here are 7 things not to wear when presenting yourself as a woman.
1. A Too-Short Skirt That Rides Up
Most crossdressers and transgender women have gorgeous legs that look amazing in short skirts and dresses.
But if your skirt is so short that you have to constantly tug to keep it from riding up, it’s a definite NO. There’s nothing more distracting than seeing an otherwise attractive woman struggling with her clothes.
2. A Poor Quality Wig
Your hair is one of the first things people notice about you. If you wear a cheap or worn-out looking wig, you’ll likely attract the wrong kind of attention.
To avoid this, invest in a high-quality wig and take good care of it. This way, you can ensure that you always make a positive impression with your hair.
3. Ill-Fitting Undies
Ill-fitting bras and panties aren’t just uncomfortable; they can create unsightly bulges and wrinkles under your clothes. Who wants that?
Believe it or not, about 80% of women wear the wrong bra size. So, there’s a good chance you might be wearing an ill-fitting bra too.
But don’t worry, you can find your proper bra size with some helpful tips. Check out this article for guidance: How to Find Your MTF Bra Size (Transgender/Crossdressing Tips).
4. Too Much Perfume
The perfect perfume can make you feel irresistibly feminine, but it shouldn’t be so strong that it becomes overpowering to others.
A simple rule of thumb is to apply 2 spritzes to 1-2 areas of your body, like your wrists and neck – never exceeding a total of 5 spritzes.
5. Shoes You Can’t Walk In
Sexy stilettos are a surefire way to look and feel gorgeous – but only if you can walk in them! If you have trouble walking in heels, try these tips:
- Stick with heels 3” or lower
- Wear shoes with thicker heels (skinny heels are much harder to balance in)
- Avoid thick platforms
6. Too Much Makeup
When it comes to makeup, less is more. A soft, natural look is always more feminine and flattering than overdoing it.

7. Worn Out Clothes or Accessories
It’s hard to feel like a poised and polished woman in scuffed shoes or a stretched out bra.
Take a good look at your clothes, undies, and accessories and either repair, donate, or toss anything past its prime.
In conclusion
While I’m not a big believer in fashion rules, I think we can all agree that these items do nothing to enhance your feminine image.
So what do you think of my list? Is there anything else you would add? I’d love to hear from you, so please share in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille

I agree with these suggestions. Over the years I have learned to wear shoes that I can comfortably shop in for hours. A as a male to female crossdresser it is important to feel comfortable while out enfemme. A good fitting bra and panties are important. My fav perfume is Red Door. I like dressing in a conservative dress or skirt while out.

A very pretty dress. A great example that conservative doesn’t have to mean boring. I love the whole outfit.

Very nice!
I am thinking these days on what to do to make a mask look attractive. A lot of options are available. I keep forgetting to draw a smile on mine. It’s a pity that no one can see you smile when masked. Of course, if you attract too much attention you may get read. Also when masked, many of your facial enhancements are not visible, so you need to project femininity better in all the other aspects. So I think that one thing not to wear is a mask, but that can’t be helped.
You will be just fine! No worries
As a cis woman, who was forced to live as a man for many years (I have XX chromosomes, and am a woman again now), and had to go through similar situations as you all do, I feel you all make the mistake of wearing your skirts to short. Most trans women who had to live as men tend to have way to muscular upper thighs (including myself), because estrogen did not have enough time to remove those muscles and cover them with a nice layer of smooth fat. Those short skirts show those muscles to well. I tend to wear knee long or longer skirts, to display the good sections of my legs only. also, longer, wide skirts mimik a nicer waist line, and cover up the typically narrow male hips, for the case those skirts are high risers.
Because I never had the damaging influence of testosterone onto my body, my hips are about as wide as my shoulders, which is very typical for women of northern European descent, but I still like to cover my shoulders, because I think they are pretty ugly looking. This has nothing to do with trans, some women just don’t like to show their shoulders, specifically not, if one gets a little older.
I am impressed with the hair you all have, if it is not your own, it shows how good wigs can be these days.
I am running around with my own hair, and because all the work it takes to deal with long hair, mine is pretty much long enough for my taste.
Have fun to be the woman you want to be, and I hope that you can be it for good, one of these days!

Lucille,
I love dressing up as a women. I have a few short skirts, but don’t wear them out in public. I ordered 13 flowerly crop tops today, that will show off my pink naval ring.
I do need to buy a couple better wigs.
I have some of Liz Taylor’s White Diamonds, but it is a bit strong, so only wear when not going out.
My bras, panties all fit good.
I do not like distressed jeans. Do like flowerly jeans, probably have 40 pairs.

I try to present as an everyday woman, so avoid short skirts and too much makeup… good advice for blending in!

Hi ladies,
Much of my wardrobe is old fashioned and feminine because I love that.
However, nowadays when I go out to stores etc, I do wear pants and less girly outfits just to blend in.
Oh well,
You have a very confident, intelligent, sophisticated look! Very well bred and proper. Beauty with poise and dignity. A very respectable woman.
Hi Morgan,
