Stepping out into the word as your female self can be incredibly empowering. It’s powerful validation for crossdressers and transgender women alike.
In this blog post, I want to dive into this topic and hear about your own experiences. How often do you present yourself as a woman in public?
Do you live as a woman full time? Do you crossdress regularly or on occasion? Or is the answer, sadly, “never”?
Please take my transgender / crossdressing survey and share your thoughts in the comments below!

I began going out in public as female 4 years ago right prior to being on hormones and never got a second glance…. Now living full time as female, well I go everyday! The key, ladies, if you are not a full-time woman is to not overdress, and make sure your makeup is appropriate for where you go. Also, dress age appropriate as well as proper shoe attire…. you rarely see women in 5″ heels in a mall setting…. Also make sure your voice is naturally feminine.

I went to the drive thru lane at the bank to pay a bill last month. Should have picked a different branch where they don’t know me because I was almost doubled over in nervous anticipation that caused me to fumble with my purse. My encounter started fine with them calling me ma’am and ended with them calling me Mr. Could have been much worse, I suppose, but I probably sbould have expected that since my signature was on my check. Learning experience and work in progress. Won’t give up.
I live in Sydney and would like to meet and chat to other MTF in the city.
Meet up for chat and coffee during the daytime only.
I have been going out a lot more dressed as a woman over the past 2 years or so. Hardly ever do I not dress as a woman anymore. I’m not passable as a woman but I do go shopping fully dressed as a woman and even though I get some stares I’ve learned to just be the woman I am and I do pretty well. I am respectful in public so that when I do go out in public all dressed up I try to shop when most children should be home in bed. I don’t need any confrontations with adults that are easily offended. So over a period of many years I’ve overcome most of my fears in public while dressed as a woman and to me that is one of my major achievements as a trans woman. I still believe that when I opened up to all my family and friends as a trans woman that was tough but it’s been 4 years that I revealed my true self and I’m proud of myself for doing that. That in itself freed me of hiding or avoiding people from visiting me. I’m usually dressed as a woman all the time and I got tired of hiding who I am.
I went out of my house about 2 years ago and loved it! I went with my wife but never left the truck which was a good first step but I never got a second step.I’d love to go to fantishia fair and be out and free.
I started going out in public full time sens last month i go every-ware. I’m tacking hormones it helps. I have been having lots of compliment and having more fun with others. Thanks to you and all I’m going through, (tho i have permanent depression) i am smiling more and feeling better with my self.
Again thank you.
[…] A couple months ago, I created a poll asking how often you go out in public as a woman. […]
Hey Lucille,
I get out a few times a year. I hit some local CD/TG events which are always a blast. I do have alot of fun just getting out with just my wife, dinner, shopping, trying on outfits ( sharing the same dressing room of course )
I would go out much more often if I could just get dolled up at home and get in the car and go. Just the life of a happily married dresser who’s wife is the only one that knows! Life this way certainly keeps things in perspective and really has me always looking forward to the next time I can FLY! ;.)
