Hi Ladies,
These are truly frightening times. And it’s a moment of fun and fresh air for Lucille to suggest a show and tell fashion show. So here i am swaying to a soft melody.
May we all be safe and protected.
Be well, girls,
Love,
Sarah

A picture of me
You look fantastic. Stay healthy. Such a weird time.

This is one of my favorite dresses. My boyfriend took a picture of it at a park
This is not the sharpest photo but it remains one of my favorites because of the context. A spiritual center where I was well known as a guy was having a fund raiser. The show director was, and remains, my best friend. I arranged with her to perform the closing song of the show as Jeanette. I think a lot of the people who were going to be there suspected I was transgender but no one had asked and I had not volunteered information to confirm or deny.
My friend owned a beauty shop. I went there early so she could do my makeup and a hairdresser could do my long hair in an appropriate style for what I was going to wear. I am a singer and have performed there and in musicals so I was not nervous about performing. Anticipating the crowds reaction did have me in knots. It would be the first time I had ever come out to a large group of mainly straight people.
My friend introduced me as “someone you all know but have never met”. I walked from the back of the building to the stage. The music started and I sang “This Is the Moment” from the musical “Jekyll and Hyde”. I grabbed the microphone, took a deep breath and just did what I had done hundred of time before.
The song ended and the audience stood and applauded. I believe I was hugged by nearly everyone there. That night changed my life and, since then, I have never hid who I am. I have made many friends outside our community because of that one night.
