Summer is in full swing here in the Northern Hemisphere, which means…
It’s time to put on a bikini or swimsuit!
Even if you aren’t ready to hit the beach en femme, a bathing suit should be part of every girl’s wardrobe. Wear one for sunbathing, lounging by the pool, or posing in a beach babe photoshoot.
But how can you look your best when there’s so little left to the imagination?
This post contains my top trans / crossdressing bikini and swimsuit tips for looking sexy and feminine in swimwear. Read on to learn more!
1. Enhance Your Hips and Bust
To maximize the look of female curves, try these tips:
- Go for ruffles and ruching. These style details are great for adding volume where you might lack curves.
- Wear a padded bikini top. Fortunately, many bikinis and swimsuits come with built-in padding for added oomph.
- Try a skirted bikini bottom. A skirt that flares out at the hips is an easy way to add inches. It’s also great for covering areas you may not feel comfortable displaying.
2. Downplay Your Shoulders
Balanced proportions are the key to a sexy figure. By minimizing your shoulders, you can achieve a more feminine balance between your upper and lower body.
Here are some tricks for making broad shoulders appear more delicate:
- Avoid string bikinis unless you are truly tiny. Instead, select a bikini top with wide straps to balance the proportion of your shoulders.
- Try a halter top. Halter tops draw the eye in, creating a slimming effect. They’re also great for showing off cleavage.
- Avoid bandeau tops. Bandeau tops create a strong horizontal line across the chest, making your upper body look even wider.
3. Slim Your Middle
Here are 3 strategies to help create the illusion of an hourglass shape:
- Wear a shaping swimsuit. There are a lot of swimsuits (like MiracleSuit) with built-in control panels to hold in and slenderize your torso.
- Look for suits with side panels in a contrasting color. A color blocked swimsuit is a great trick for slimming your torso. The eye is drawn towards the middle of your body and the sides are minimized, creating the look of a slimmer torso.
- Wear a monokini. A monokini is a sexy swimwear style that has cutout sides. It’s less revealing than a bikini and the cutout side panels create the visual illusion of an hourglass figure.
4. Smooth Your Silhouette
It’s not just about shape and size, but about creating a sleek and smooth silhouette, too. Keep these tips in mind:
- Make sure your swimsuit fits well. A suit that is too small will dig in and create unattractive bulges and belly rolls. A suit that is too big will droop.
- Master the art of the “tuck.” Bikini bottoms leave nothing to the imagination, so you’ll want to ensure a smooth look. There are lots of forums and websites that can give pointers on how to do this comfortably. (Or take my first tip and wear a skirted bikini bottom.)
5. Pose Pretty
Posture is always important, but it’s especially crucial when your entire body is on full display.
You should always be aware of the way you hold your body when you’re in a bikini. Think about your posture whether you’re sitting around a pool chatting with friends or posing for the camera.
Keep your tummy in and avoid slouching at all times. The more long and lifted your posture, the slimmer you will appear.

I wear a bikini all the time and have never had a problem .
My first preference is to wear different styles of bikinis ever since developing gender transitioned body measurements of 34D-27-36 and 125 lbs at 5′-8″ height. I remain non-op by choice, but between the reaching physical effects of HRT and having an orchiectomy, wearing any bikini is less challenging than I ever imagined. Techniques using pharmaceutical grade, clear and sterile surgical tape helps me enjoy showing all my feminine goods at the beach and hotel pools when traveling.
South Beach and the adjacent areas have my favorite beaches and clubs for unwinding on vacation and long weekends, so I own and routinely wear a number of swimsuits and clubbing outfits. String bikinis are my first choice for relaxing at the hotel pool while looking “muy caliente” sipping on piña coladas and conversing with the cutest guys who buy the drinks. However, I first walk to the beach, take my top off and then treat my girls with some Florida sunshine to get that “almost all over tan.” I spent the money for removal of all my body hair which included genital electrolysis, so getting the “all over tan” is a must when flying to Florida! For this, I will drive slightly north to Haulover Beach where there is a noticeable gay presence and total nude sunbathing is commonplace. For this, I wear a more traditional bikini set since it is easier to disrobe and then put the panties back on and set everything in place for the walk back to my car. I just love these beaches since this freedom is not available in the Chicago area.
My most recent purchase from Nordstroms is the ViX ‘Bia’ Bikini tops and bottoms in both coral and black colors at $92.00 for each piece. The $400.00 spent is well worth it for the two sets; you definitely get what you pay for! The fabric has the most stretchy and smooth feel of just about any bathing suit while the panty keeps everything in place for me without the need for taping. The waistband stays firmly in place and has adjustable gold metal bands for as much or less frontal exposure as you want. Also, I am able to remove the bra cup padding since my girls are amply big and my preference is for a little bit of “bounce.” This was fantastic for my needs at Haulover Beach and pool flirting at my Southbeach hotel.
Since I have spent a small fortune on my body, workout diligently to stay in shape, love the feel of minimal clothing, and like the attention my body now gets; the ability to wear a bikini where and when I want is the high point of my transition.
How did you find a doctor willing to do an orchiectomy?
Hello Jillian. To answer your question, I will say that more than just one medical professional was used in the total process. In my case, I enlisted the services of both a psychiatrist and psychologist for counseling which started from day one of my decision to transition about ten years ago. Also, the surgeon, endocrinologist, and I came to a decision that an orchiectomy would suit my needs best early in the transition. Exposure to anti androgens was kept to a minimum while HRT effects were maximized giving me a shapely figure and B cup breasts before two stage breast augmentation surgery; my girls are now a perfect 34D size. Of course, a strict, healthy diet and rigorous exercise was also part of the process and is still ongoing.
All that said, having earned multiple degrees and achieving success as a career woman, non op transitioning has been my most difficult goal to complete thus far. I am very comfortable and content remaining non op; so much that my fiancé and I will be married next May.
So, just scheduling a appointment with a surgeon for removal of two organs by itself will not be done by any reputable professional.
I’ve been crossdressing for some time but I never had had the opportunity to take sun tan until now. Got a friend with a house and I spent several weeks in her house. I have a beautiful tan and I am so happy looking my chest with a beautiful mark from the sun. When I see myself on the mirror I look so feminine. I wish it never go away.

What girl does not like to wear her bikini ? Just sitting out in the sun having mine on is a trill. It makes me feel sexy and pretty at the same time. Out of all the girls clothes I have, wearing a swim suit in the summer is the best time. it makes me feel like a female. If all I had to wear was a swim suit, I would totally do it.
Not quite “bikini ready,” but I’m working on it! This is my very first one-piece, and it swims nicely with no tucking issues. Price: $3.75 at my local Goodwill!! 🙂
Brettany Renée Blatchley love your new bikini, it looks great on you. Goodwill does have the best clothes, You Go Girl !
Thank You Kelly!!
I wore this to my “well woman” appointment the other day so my doctor could see how my body has redeveloped over the last few years of hormone therapy. She and her student were impressed! (I’m more slender than when I took that pic.)
I can hardly wait to get my figure in shape to wear a bikini. It may take awhile, but I sure love being a woman. Wow! It is fun!
Hey girlfriend..If you have no obstacles or nothing in your way then go for it and let the woman inside you out. With me, every little thing I do as a woman reinforces my womanhood and makes it stronger. Things like sitting on the toilet and inserting a tampon up my ‘vagina’ makes me feel so feminine and womanly or sitting on the toilet taking a douche to clean me out before going out on a date. Those are feminine and womanly things to do. I only wear women’s clothes now and have tossed all my male clothing and even my TG clothing and only wear things actually made for a woman to wear. That makes me feel for feminine also. I have been back to living totally and full time as a woman for 8 months now and I love it. I will never go back to being male again. I love applying my makeup and putting on my lipstick! Also deciding which dress I’m going to wear that day.
Just go for it girlfriend, if you are anything like me you will find total happiness.
Julie Lisa thank you honey I need all the encouragement I can get honey thanks again sweetie Love M.J.
