Your walk is a critical aspect of your female image. Learning how to walk in a naturally feminine way can do wonders to enhance your overall appearance.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to go from one extreme (a masculine walk) to the other (over-exaggerated hip swinging).
How can you find a happy medium as you master your feminine movements? I’m glad you asked!
In this article, I share 3 simple tips to help you achieve a natural, womanly walk. Read on to learn more!
1. Try the Hip Matrix
A big difference between men and women is that women tend to have more fluid body movements.
That means you can sway your hips all you want – but until you learn how to “loosen up” your body, your feminine walk will look stiff and unnatural.
The Hip Matrix can help with this. Created by movement specialist Rob Brinded, the Hip Matrix exercise is designed to release tension and free up your body movements so you can achieve a flowing, feminine walk.
Watch the video above and then try it for yourself. If you compare your walk before and after, I promise you’ll be amazed by the difference!
P.S. You can learn more about Rob’s approach to feminine movement in my Stepping Out Secrets Program.
2. Practice in High Heels
Women have a lower center of gravity than men due to their wider hips. This creates that sexy hip sway that’s characteristic of a feminine walk.
Forcing your hips to sway usually looks unnatural. Instead, practice walking in high heels. High heels change your center of gravity and exaggerate the forward curve of your spine. This helps release the hips, which naturally feminizes your movements.
You can enhance this effect by trying to keep your shoulders still as you walk. This forces you to use your hips for balance.
Once you’ve mastered hip walking in heels, practice the same movements in flat shoes.
3. Shorten Your Stride
Shortening your stride is another easy and effective way to feminize your walk.
The average woman’s step length (the distance from the toe of one foot to the toe of the opposite foot) is 26”. So if you want to be scientific about it, get out a ruler and measure your steps! Your natural stride is probably longer, so work on taking shorter steps.
Note: The higher your heels are, the shorter your steps should be.
Conclusion
There are other subtle elements that define a feminine walk, but these tips are a great place to start. Give them a try and let me know what you think!

I am so happy my inner gender is female.I am not young and have had this inner gender battle since my teens.I have been on hormones since seeing a therapist for diagnosis.I now have breast’s and shrunken genitals.Very low libido.
You are doing fabulous work and I applaud you.I only wish I had gone ahead with my transformation years ago.
I hope you will be able to help guide me into very deep feminity.
Thank you.
Love,
Stephanie.
Such a good article from you.A lot of info. on clothing make up!!!Walking fem,and in heels is a fem. thing that takes practice.Shorter steps & heel to toe.Thank you Kimberly.
I love walking in heels
Another part of “the walk” is the arm swing. Women’s arms are relaxed and hang closer to their sides. Men’s arms stick out at the elbow like they have something in their armpits. It can sometimes look unnatural when trying to hold those arms closer to the body. It’s my opinion that hormones help alter the muscles and change the distribution of weight which can help produce a more feminine walk.
Hi! i walk naturally better in pumps that in my male shoes…as soon as i get my high heels on ,i walk like a woman ..the same with dresses&skirts …as soon as i put them in ..it feels so right…i am a woman …i believe in my past life i was a woman…so i can explaine it…i know it for sure…
This post is large enuf that I’m sure I commented before. Hope not to be redundant. A few things that occurred to me:
Nicole mentioned dancing. If you pracctice dncing in heels it will help make walking more natural. Start slowly and cautiously, with lower heels.
Watching women move ie indeed educational. It might be more so if you pay attention to women about your same age and build. If their moves look natural and you emulate them, it should help. Of course, if they move like apes as some women do, look elsewhere.
Sucking in your belly (not painfully) will improve both your posture, AND your walk.
I’d like to go and have sexchange surgery
These are good, but only the beginning. The differences in a woman’s walk, for the average woman on the street, is subtle. There is no major hip swinging, but the shorter step and the inline footprints are still there. The problem for many of us it that we try to walk like models on a catwalk, or like fictional sexy girls on Rodeo Drive. That’s not reality. Watch average women closely. There are subtle movements that mark them as feminine. Copy those, and don’t exaggerate.
There is also an age factor: younger women have more fluid, feminine movements. Older women are still feminine, but have toned down the movements. What I’ve found is that older women have that way of moving that shows decades of how they walk in their youth, and years of dance classes and yoga, but like graduates of the program they are free to move as they want without conforming to a standard. I find it fascinating to watch how upscale women in their 50’s and 60’s move. Watch how they walk and move: confident, no exaggerations, nothing to prove. I hope to achieve that kind of confidence one day.
Walking in snow last winter, I noticed that when I walk like a man, my footprints are side-by-side in a V shape. But when I walk like a woman, my footprints are strait and lined in front of each other. My steps are also shorter in female than they are in male. Walking in snow or in sand make easy to see your footprints and it’s a good way to see how we walk and make the corrections we need to have a more feminine stride.
