Age is a popular topic around here and I’m occasionally asked…
“Am I too old to crossdress?” or “Am I too old to transition as a transgender woman?”
My response?
NO, of course not!
Whether you are a so-called mature crossdresser – or an older MTF woman beginning her transition – it is NEVER too late to be your true female self.
I believe that the true desires or your heart are meant to be expressed – no matter how long they’ve been buried.
Is it true that your age may have an impact on hormone therapy or surgery? Yes, that’s possible. But a good doctor will guide you on your best and safest options.
The fact remains that you can transition and/or present yourself as a woman at any point in life.
In fact, embracing your feminine side can give you a whole new lease on life…
I see it all the time: People seem to grow years younger when they make the decision to be themselves fully.
Having the courage to express your true self also inspires others to do the same. The world needs more of this!
In the words of Laverne Cox:
“It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.”
I’ll say it again: You are NEVER too old to be your true female self.
So, I encourage you to take that next step and do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.
You deserve it. And it’s not too late!
Do you agree that age is just a number?
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic…
How old were you when you decided to fully embrace your female self? (Or are you still waiting?)
Let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!
Love,
Lucille

I began dressing as my female self (in the privacy of my own home) in 2020 and finally plucked up the courage to come out as a non-binary/gender fluid person in 2022 at the age of 66.
3 years on, & I feel comfortable (usually) in presenting as my female self, and have recently commenced hormone therapy.
The sense of freedom I derive from dressing as I truly wish is emancipatory. Truly liberating me from the oppressive, patriarchal, right-wing, religious upbringing that I experienced.
Yes at 83 I believe I am.
I was 36 when I began my journey to be my true self. I completely agree that we r never too old to embrace our true selves.
Hi Lucille,
I’m on the high side of 76, been cross dressing for most of my life but only since the passing of my wife and retirement have become full time. It wasn’t long after completely coming out to my friends that they started saying how I looked so much happier and younger. Many people mistake me for being in my 50’s. As mentioned, I think as we transition we do feel and look younger, and happier. Maybe it’s the new freedom, no more hiding, no more lying to our friends, no more shame or guilt, just us, being who we need to be, removing all that stress we carry all of our lives allows us to feel, and look, younger. Life is good, live it while we’re still alive.
Hugs,
Jennifer
Definitely not. Having been a closeted crossdresser for many decades, I came out 6 months ago to my doctor, with my wish to transition- aged 61 1/2!! Best decision that I made as I feel that I have a great burden lifted. Having turned 62 in the past few days, I am living as Francesca full time. At the moment, just waiting to get started on HRT, but that is another story!!
I started wearing women’s underwear and bras when I was 40 and I have taken feminizer and breast enhancement
no, it’s never late. i’m going thru 5 years on HRT. love it. love being who i’m met to be. best thing that ever has happened to me.
thankyou all.
I am 55 and I will be going to a gender clinic before the end of 2025, im just waiting for the date so I can have consultation. I’ve put this on hold for too long and I feel that you’re never too old to be you. Being healthy and happy that’s what is important. Love peace and happiness
