Prep Your Skin
Before applying beard cover makeup onto the face, it’s important to properly prep your skin.
Step 1. Shave the face
Make sure that you have wet shaved all over. If you have ingrown hairs, be sure to treat them.
You need to make sure that you are exfoliating often and moisturizing your face twice a day to avoid ingrown hairs.
Step 2. Apply moisturizer
After you have shaved, ensure the area is completely dry. Apply your moisturizer with your fingertips all over the face. Use a moisturizer that suits your skin type, whether that be oily, combination, or dry.
Apply Makeup To Cover the Beard Shadow
Arm yourself with a makeup brush
We recommend arming yourself with the right makeup tools. A round foundation brush will be perfect to cover your beard shadow.
Step 1. Apply primer
Before applying makeup, we always recommend applying a primer. A primer is used to make the makeup products last longer and this is important when covering and concealing a beard shadow.
Step 2. Apply color corrector
A color corrector is used to correct the undertones of the skin. This is the first step before applying concealer.
One of the hardest parts about covering a beard shadow is trying to cover the shadow color. The key is to use a color corrector with a pink/peachy undertone to counteract the blue-ish tinge left behind after shaving.
The Jecca Blac Correct & Conceal Palette includes a color corrector specifically created for this purpose.
With a round foundation brush, apply a small amount of color corrector to the area and blend well. Keep doing this until your beard shadow starts fading, leaving a neutral tone in its place.
With a round foundation brush, apply a small amount of color corrector to the area and blend well. Keep doing this until your beard shadow starts fading, leaving almost a neutral tone in its place.
Step 3. Apply concealer
After the color corrector, it’s time to apply concealer. Look for a medium coverage cream concealer in a shade that matches your skin tone.
You can use the same makeup brush or a clean one if you prefer. As before, apply a little bit of product at a time and blend well before adding more. You want your beard shadow area to blend perfectly with the rest of your face.
As you can see in the video below, it’s easy to obtain flawless coverage by following these steps. This demo features the Jecca Blac Correct & Conceal Palette, but these techniques apply to any products.
Step 4. Finish the rest of your base makeup
You can use concealer all over the base, which is often used as an alternative to foundation. However, if you prefer to use foundation, it should be applied after the concealer.
Step 5. Apply powder to set your makeup
To make sure your perfect base stays put, apply a powder on top of the base. If you need extra coverage, use a foundation powder. For lighter coverage, use a translucent powder.
To Pack In Your Bag
We would also recommend taking your concealer and powder for retouches throughout the day/night. Use your foundation brush to apply touch ups on top of your makeup.
The palette made for covering beard shadow
Jecca Blac’s Correct & Conceal Palette was born out of the lack of a product that could cover beard shadow. Thanks to its creamy texture, the Correct & Conceal Palette is perfect for layering, and its 6 different shades make it easy for everyone to use.

I have used color correctors with some success in the past to disguise bluish beard shadow but lately it seems like the foundation I am using actually reverses the effect of the color corrector, does anyone have knowledge or experience with this? I am very fair skinned and use a medium coverage foundation that is at least a shade darker than my skin. yellow or peach color corrector is used to cover beard shadow or even around 24 hours worth of stubble, the peach works especially well for this and disguises shaving abrasions. anyways I’ll have it good and blended which can take awhile being that I am fair skinned a few dots of foundation spread with a large brush seem to instantly bring my beard shadow back out, I can only guess that the color corrector sticks to the foundation if that makes any sense and the foundation ends up being the stronger of the two?
Neutralize with yellow corrector
I want to become transgender
Unfortunately laser didn’t work for me. Too many light hairs and even the darker ones didn’t seem to take. So £4,500 (about $7,000 I guess), down the drain. I had several electrolysis sessions on my face but damn that is slow and extremely painful, plus they grew back.
So now I have my face and neck waxed every so often which I strangely find quite pleasurable after the initial ripping out of the hair. It’s only a brief OOF! then a nice tingling sensation. A few sessions should eventually weaken the root and kill off the hairs.
I know that not everyone can get or afford electrolysis or laser. And I have read that electrolysis could become the most expensive and prolonged procedure for a m2f transition. I did electrolysis for about a year and a half when I first started hrt, I didn’t want to have to worry about concealing a beard shadow. I’m not a big fan of makeup, so the money and time spent was worth it.
I shave once then shave again. I then use a Mehron cream stick neutralizer all over before I use Picture Perfect foundation followed by Dermablend loose powder. I then put on the rest of my makeup. Works every time
Are there any tips, or any ways to slow or stop facial hair growth?
I’ve found that an inexpensive redish pink or red/orange lipstick works great as a color corrector for beard cover. Apply enough to have it look like a slight sunburn. After the color corrector, a light coat of concealer and use your foundation and powder and it works great. Don’t worry about getting exact “correct” color; it seems you just need some red to offset the blueness of the beard.
Hi all – I’m very lucky I guess. I have always had a very light beard. I did have some laser treatments a few years ago on my chin and that pretty much took care of it. I always moisturize, not just my face but my entire body every day. I just use a little foundation and demablend powder when I go out. I also find that as I get older (75), it’s much easier for some reason for me to blend in. Here I am a couple of months ago. Hugs, Suzy
