If you’re a crossdresser or transgender woman, then you know what can impact clothes, hair, and makeup can have on your appearance.
But let’s not forget about the little details, like your hands!
While you can’t change the structure of your hands, the good news is that there are simple ways to help minimize their size and create a more feminine look.
In this blog post on how to get feminine hands, I share 4 dos and don’ts for feminizing your hands. Let’s dive in!
DO Invest In The Right Grooming Tools
Since we’re constantly using our hands, they’re a natural magnet for attention. That means that neatly groomed hands and nails are a must.
Good grooming doesn’t have to take much time – especially when you use the right tools. Here are a few items you should have in your arsenal:
- Nail brush – This is an essential tool for cleaning under the fingernails.
- Glass nail file – A glass nail file is gentler on the nails, so it’s a better option than an emery board or metal nail file.
- Nail buffer – Use a nail buffer to give your nails a natural shine without having to use polish.
- Hand cream – Hand creams are thicker than body lotions, so they offer extra hydration for hands and nails.
DON’T Make These Manicure Mistakes
Whether you go to a salon or do it yourself, getting a manicure is a great way to polish your feminine look.
That said, there are a couple mistakes you’ll want to avoid:
- Avoid nails that are too long or too short. Both of these extremes tend to make the fingers look larger and thus, more masculine. The most flattering nail length is about 1/8″-1/4″ past your fingertips.
- Avoid dark nail polish colors. If your hands aren’t your strong point, avoid dark colors and stick with neutral tones that blend into your hands. Flattering color choices are soft pink, nude, or ivory.
DON’T Forget Hairy Knuckles
This seems obvious, but it still needs to be stated: If you have hairy knuckles, don’t forget to shave them when presenting yourself as a woman.
No need for such a simple detail to run an otherwise impeccable feminine image!
DO Use Jewelry To Your Advantage
Rings and bracelets can definitely make your hands look prettier, but there are a couple important rules to follow:
- Avoid dainty jewelry. If you have larger hands, they can overpower delicate jewelry. Instead, look for chunkier jewelry styles that suit the proportions of your hands.
- Keep it low key. Flashy rings and bracelets call attention to an area you may want to downplay. That means one or two simple pieces is all you need. Instead, keep the focus on your face with a statement necklace or beautiful earrings.
In conclusion
Even if your hands aren’t your favorite feature, they don’t have to detract from a feminine look. Apply these tips and your hands will blend in beautifully.
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. How do you feel about your hands? Do you have any additional suggestions to add to this list? Please share in the comments below!
Love,

How to grow long hair mam..
Hi Rashmi,
Some hormones will help hair growth but if you’re years past puberty then you’ll likely see minimal progress at best and, it isn’t going to likely happen overnight.
Why not look into a week that matches your ideal look. You don’t have to spend much for a wig that compliments your look. The wig I’ve gotten the most compliments on cost me $58.00.

Hey, I read everything you said, and I just wanted you to know that I’m autistic to and feel a lot of what you’re feeling. I agree with everything you said, even the part about moving to England. I’m about to be 18 years old and I’m dealing with a lot of what you are. The only difference is that I live in America.

I definitely needed to see this..my friend angela just told me thursday while we were out that thats the only thing that gives me away..my hands..i will try these tips!! thank you !
I always have a manicure, always moistourise and keep my hands and arms hair free. Don’t wear much jewelry and have learned that nails fixed on professionally are better than the ones I try. I did stick some long nails on once – what a laugh…. I struggled to get dressed, especially fastening my bra and attaching stockings to my suspender belt – never again. Short nails is a good tip.
As with many here, my nails were a disaster. I was constantly breaking and splitting my nails. This was compounded by a horrible habit since childhood of biting my nails. As I got older, my nails would constantly split. This was due to many factors not the least of which was using my fingernails as ‘tools’. I have always wanted nicely manicured nails but was afraid they were too feminine. Finally out of frustration and the suggestion of another I started getting regular manicures. As part of this I had a clear gel coat applied to my nails. Between the gel coat and the manicures my nails looked and felt amazing. Not only that but it helped me to break the habit of biting my nails and cuticles in order to keep my nails looking good. Though the gel coat helped to strengthen my nails I still found my nails splitting and I still occasionally used them as ‘tools’ which resulted in split or broken nails. I decided the solution to my problem of habitually splitting nails was to get acrylic nails. Since getting the acrylics I have had no problems with splitting nails. They look great and I have basically trained myself not to use my nails as ‘tools’. Yes, they are a pinkish tone even with clear polish. And there is no hiding the fact that I have acrylic nails and they do indeed hint of being feminine. And yes, they are now going to be a permanent part of me, but I just love having them. As the saying goes, “I’m worth it!”
