Clothes, hair, and makeup are important aspects of your feminine image. But your body language and movements say more about you than you probably realize!
It doesn’t matter how good you look… If your walk and movements give off a masculine vibe (or worse, are exaggerated and unnatural), then you’re probably not making the impression you hoped for.
Do you want to learn how to walk more feminine? Here are 5 common MTF movement mistakes to avoid – and what to do instead.
1. Over-Exaggerated Hip Swinging
There’s nothing more alluring than the sexy sway of a woman’s hips as she walks. But you should never overdo this. In fact, if you are consciously swinging your hips, it’s probably too much.
A better approach is to simply put on a pair of high heels and walk naturally. Heels automatically cause your hips to sway. The key is to relax your body and go with the flow.
2. Stiff Body Movements
Stiff isn’t sexy. As I mentioned earlier, the secret to fluid, feminine movements is to relax your body.
Tense muscles translate to stiff, masculine body movements. Focus on relaxing your body instead. Do stretching exercises to help release built-up tension.
3. Poor Posture
Your posture is the foundation for your movements. Here are two posture mistakes to avoid:
- Slouching: If you’re tall, you might be tempted to slouch to downplay your height. Don’t. Slouching isn’t attractive and it definitely doesn’t make you look more feminine.
- Arching your back: On the other extreme, avoid exaggerating your posture by arching your back and sticking your butt out. While you might think this looks “sexy,” it actually looks silly.
The fix for both of these mistakes is to stand tall with natural, lifted posture. This makes you look confident and feminine.
4. Stocky Shoulder Movements
Men carry their weight in their upper bodies, while a woman’s center of gravity is in her hips. In men, this often translates into strong upper body movements.
As you can see in the video above, the hallmark of a masculine walk is “stocky” shoulder movements. Compare that to the graceful sway of the women’s hips.
To counteract this tendency:
- Keep your shoulders down and back. If you feel your shoulders coming forward, literally roll them back into place.
- Focus on keeping your shoulders still while relaxing the hips. This will help transfer the movement to your lower body.
- Keep your body weight neutral (or even slightly back) instead of leaning forward. This helps downplay the look of your shoulders.
5. Taking Up Too Much Space
There are many differences between male and female body language. One of the biggest differences is that men take up more space with their bodies while women tend to keep the space more closed.
How does this translate into movement?
- When men walk, they typically have a space between their arms and body, while a woman’s hands brush her hips.
- Men’s steps are longer and there’s often more space between the feet.
To correct this, rotate your elbows in so your arms stay closer to your body. Keep your feet closer together and take shorter steps when you walk.
Mastering your feminine walk
Now that you know the most common mistakes, here’s another example of a feminine walk to study and emulate. Notice the graceful posture, gently swinging hips, and relaxed body movements:
How feminine are YOUR body movements? Do you struggle with this or are you one of the lucky girls who are naturally graceful?

my score is 67% female.not bad for someone that hides who they are 24/7 I really would like to be myself
I work at a job where I do a lot of walking. Probably about 2 miles a day. In front of many people. I try to walk like a female as much as I can with out exaggeration. I got the swagger down and nobody has asked me what was wrong with me yet. I also use the stairs alot. Never use the elevator at work. 2 flights 50 to 60 times a day. I think this has helped.
I guess I have been lucky… it seems to come natural. I have been told for years that I am fluid and graceful when I move. Even been asked if I was a dancer (because they said I move gracefully). I do find at times though a severe urge to just wag the hiney.. lol I think its more of an attention attractor in a club though, not just a regular walk. And YES! Heels will automatically give you some sachet. Also (tuck it..) believe it or not, this causes some of that motion also. If some of you reading are wondering.. no they are not real breasts. The flesh is me.. but getting it to look like that is an illusion. No tape but lots of special technique. lol
Even the teachers would say I had female features
Hi Selina
I know what you mean about tucking. I’ve been doing it for years now. Not only does it help with our movements, we don’t have an unsightly bulge.
I would love to know how you manage to get that cleavage. It looks so nice. I’ve tried taping, but they just don’t look right afterwards.
Oh and by the way, you are gorgeous. I’ll bet most of us girls are jealous. I know I am.
Much love ❤
Tina
Thank you Selina. I can’t wait to try it. I’ve been wanting to appear larger for a long time.
Much Love

4 silicon inserts “chicken cutlets”, 1 bra that is well fitted, 1 same size but a little looser on the straps. insert silicon into space of bra 1, put on next bra. insert silicon between bras. adjust and make sure bras fit firm but comfortable. grasp flesh starting under armpit and gently pull inward and up. let the bras do their job and hold them. No you do not have to have a flabby chest for this, mine is rather non-flabby, yet you can see the result. Oh! work a little makeup magic in there to outline cleavage. When you do this, do not do it too dark and make sure to blend or it looks ridiculous.
Women walk with a bounce in their step. The key is to move from the hips. I recommend starting with the exaggerated catwalk sashay then toning it down to a halt. I also find that walking is very culturally influenced, and it is very much determined by mood and age. Young African American women tend to strut while old Asian women tend to amble whilst remaining very steady. Also, notice how women in a grocery store walk differently than women going to work.
For me I discovered the movement and subtle body awareness via yoga. Given how much I practice the discipline and display the physical work as an instructor it really helped in learning how to relax the muscles via the breath and find a greater poise and fluidity of movement.
Good, really appropriate topic! People can see you move from a long way away, even from the rear, thus many of your other characteristics may not even enter into their impression of you. I agree with the tips, and try to follow them, but I have to remember to do so. I think it’s habitual enuf that when I’m not concentrating on my moves, they are mostly acceptable (I hope!). So true that correct, but not exaggerated posture goes a long way to enhancing your image. Relaxation is important too, and in that vein I would like to note that many women, especially young ones, have REALLY relaxed knees as they walk and swing their legs. In contrast, many men have a sorta Neanderthal shuffle, and never straighten their legs as they walk. It really shows, sumpin’ ta avoid….
Thank you so much for the information. I love to go out in my heels and I do walk very fem. I have been told that I have prettier legs than most women do. I do walk like the girls in the video. I appericate all I can learn from you and will continue to follow you. Again, thank you, Jana Lynn
