Traveling offers a fresh perspective on the world and can be especially liberating for crossdressers and transgender women.
When you go on a trip, it’s an opportunity to express your feminine self away from the routines and expectations of home.
The freedom to be your true self in a new, unfamiliar place can be truly liberating!
Considering all the benefits of taking a transgender or crossdressing vacation, I’m curious: Do you travel en femme?
Please take my poll and share your MTF travel experiences or aspirations in the comments below!

Hi there,
This is my first time chatting here even though I read everything you send. I had my first time traveling en fem not long ago. I was out to dinner with friends all dressed nicely. I did have to travel to their place in male attire. Except for my underwear. Anyway we had a wonderful night out and once back at my friends place. She virtually insisted I drive the 100 kilometers home as I was. I was very hesitant as so many things can and do go wrong on the highway. But in the I did concede. It was fabulous and certainly topped off a great night.
Monica.
Glad you enjoyed the night out, I hope you have many more.
Since this is a long-standing series of posts, I’m sure I’ve responded before, and probably am repeating myself. Anyway, it’s been a long time since I’ve traveled any other than en femme. That’s who I am. There have been no problems, honest! The first time was a 700-mile overnight trip. I was a bit apprehensive, but after continually being treated with courtesy and consideration, I really loved it. My heart was SOARING. So, when I’m traveling, I’m me.
A note: in rest area restrooms, almost everybody is nervous about strangers. It’s not common to find a friendly soul in those places. So if people are giving you the fisheye, it’s probably not your presentation being suspected. And if you are large, you are more scary, but you are not necessarily being seen as male. Unless of course, your makeup, getup, moves, and speech are just awesomely WRONG (I’m assuming you are not standing to pee). In which case, ya gotta work on that, girl…
I have travelled often dressed as a woman and feel so happy l enjoy the feeling of dressing in my lingerie and choosing a pretty dress or top and skirt. I so enjoy applying my make up and transforming my self into the woman l want to be.
I have traveled en femme to San Francisco and roadtripped up to Arcata and back for my best friends’ wedding. It was a big coming out to all of my friends and ex partner who were gathered, and I felt gorgeous in a vintage dress and coat with my hair and makeup done. That was before I began to transition. Now I live my whole life as a woman, and though I am not totally passable, I wouldn’t trade the happiness I have found for anything in the world. Screw TSA, nosey travelers, hotel staff, badly mannered children–I embrace my reality and truly pity those with closed minds. Love to my community of beautiful women, genderqueers, and everyone else striving for experiential authenticity
And this finnish band Indica I ‘m taking with me in my travelling too

When traveling in fem prepare yourself the same to come home as you do when leaving home.
Anticipating a 1 hr flight to come home I felt I could make it home well in time before I “showed” with last nights shave. But then things went bad and a 6hr delay was added to the previous night’s shave. With luggage checked even my electric shaver was out of reach.
Then the comments started. Hey Mom, did you see the bearded lady? And, she has a 5 o’clock shadow,,,, no, looks more like a 3:30 shadow.
What Leave Home Comes Back Home.

Well, there are disposable razors available, even in airports. I’ve never seen a woman shaving in the Ladies’ room, but there’s always a first time. It’s not as if quite a few women never need to shave… I sometimes need to hit a few places. Maybe I’ll try it sometime, and see what kind of reaction I get. No, I’m not suicidal; just confident.
Disposable razors, yes. And moisturizers and possibly even a compact or foundation. Where will it stop? I had a tube of lipstick in my purse. Had I just shaved the morning I was returning, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
Look nice out there.
Hugs Dorothy
I love traveling I femme. Everything looks so different as a woman.
I’m travelling only in femme since summer 2011. That summer I’ve burnt all my male clothes as anathema in the field near the house. My Granny Margareth was burnt in the field too in medieval Germany in the 16-th century by Inqisition for witchcraft. When I’m travelling I’m taking with me a witch dress with special magic symbols in it. I am a wiccan witch and when I’m travelling I love to listen to the music of wiccan high priestess Lisa Thiel. Especcially her fundamental album Circle of the seasons whose music is really charming/ Lisa is also composer and singer of her songs.
