Age is a popular topic around here and I’m occasionally asked…
“Am I too old to crossdress?” or “Am I too old to transition as a transgender woman?”
My response?
NO, of course not!
Whether you are a so-called mature crossdresser – or an older MTF woman beginning her transition – it is NEVER too late to be your true female self.
I believe that the true desires or your heart are meant to be expressed – no matter how long they’ve been buried.
Is it true that your age may have an impact on hormone therapy or surgery? Yes, that’s possible. But a good doctor will guide you on your best and safest options.
The fact remains that you can transition and/or present yourself as a woman at any point in life.
In fact, embracing your feminine side can give you a whole new lease on life…
I see it all the time: People seem to grow years younger when they make the decision to be themselves fully.
Having the courage to express your true self also inspires others to do the same. The world needs more of this!
In the words of Laverne Cox:
“It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.”
I’ll say it again: You are NEVER too old to be your true female self.
So, I encourage you to take that next step and do whatever it is that you’ve been holding back on.
You deserve it. And it’s not too late!
Do you agree that age is just a number?
Now I’d love to hear from YOU on this topic…
How old were you when you decided to fully embrace your female self? (Or are you still waiting?)
Let’s continue the conversation in the comments below!

Lucille

Yes, I am too old. But I only have one life. I feel wonderful as Alannah, happy and contented and whole. As the male me, I feel single and alone and desperate. There is no difference between the reality of the two. Just in one I am me and in the other I am not. Age does matter. I have waited too long.
I’m 54 years old I came out as behind a transgender female when I was 52 years old so your never to old and I want to start taking female hormones and have SRS soon
At 49, I feel, and think that I look younger than men my age because of the steps I take to maintain my “passability”. Most men don’t watch their diets and hydration very closely, nor is skincare usually very high on their priority lists. I know this because I used to be just as guilty. Sure, I showered, shaved and made sure I was presentable, but now I moisturize, protect, condition and really look after my skin to try and keep it as feminine as possible. I like to think that because I’m more beauty conscious now, I just look and feel younger.
Flowchart…
Are you dead?
Yes: you’re too old.
No: you’re not too old.
That’s all there is to it.
I’ve been dressing since i was ten. I’m in my mid 50’s but people always thought Lexie was 15 to 20 years younger. I’m a part time lady, and have considered HRT. For now, i’ll remain a c.d. I will add that from 2011-2015 I went out every weekend as a lady, and had a wonderful time doing so. Met young and old men alike who had no concerns about my true gender. Anyway, age shouldn’t matter nor gender.
You are doing a great job. If you do decide to take your next step, you are practically there
I have had the desire all my life but finally started going out on the town about 10 years ago. Started slow by just going to gay clubs, but now I will go just about anywhere dressed as the person I feel I am.
Kisses,
Brit
I’m 65 & been on HRT for 2 yrs last Dec. I’m about 60-70% as my femme self but due to taking care of my parents it’s halted me going any further at the moment. I’m a member of a prominent Baptist church & we just started a LGBT support group. I do presentations at a local College & about to do one for our church. So NO! It’s never too late to what ever level you want to carry it.
I don’t remember how old I was when I started feeling the fem. As far as I know I was born with it. I once told someone that I feel like a lesbian born into a mans body because I love women. Everything about women excites me. Transition is happening now. It’s never too late to be yourself.
