The right pair of shoes can instantly transform the way you look, feel, and walk. That’s why a girl can never own too many pairs!
Of course, not all shoes are created equal and some styles are much more flattering and feminizing than others.
That’s why in this blog post, I’ve compiled the top 7 shoe styles for crossdressers and transgender women.
From classy high heels to comfortable flats, here are the best MTF shoes to enhance your feminine image.
1. Classic Black Pumps
What could be more chic than a pair of classic black pumps? They add a polished look to any outfit, making them a feminine wardrobe staple.
For the most mileage, choose a closed-toe, full back style with a heel that’s high enough to help loosen up your hips as you walk.
2. Ballet Flats
You don’t have to wear high heels to look feminine!
Ballet flats are a fantastic option, especially if you’re on the taller side or want to look pretty and stylish without sacrificing comfort.
3. D’Orsay Pumps
The d’Orsay is a beautiful and elegant pump style in which the sides are cut away to reveal the arch of the foot.
D’Orsay pumps are perfect for showing off shapely legs – an asset for most crossdressers and transgender women.
4. T-Straps
T-straps add a sexy touch to pumps, high heel sandals, and flats. T-strap shoes have two distinct benefits:
- The ankle strap offers extra support for your ankles, making them easier to walk in than other heels.
- The vertical line created by the center strap draws the eye upwards, making your legs look longer.
5. Nude Heels
If you’re on a budget, nude heels will give you the most mileage since they can be worn with literally any color of outfit.
Choose a nude tone that blends in with your skin to make your legs look miles long – an added bonus!
6. Wedges
Still trying to master walking in heels? Then consider a wedge heel. Since the sole covers more ground, they’re much easier to walk in.
One caveat: Wedges have a chunky look, so they are best for those with thinner legs. Stay away from them if you have large or muscular legs.
7. Tall Boots
Boots are sexy and sassy, so they’re a wardrobe must.
Choose knee high boots for the most elegant look. Tall boots are more flattering and slimming than ankle boots or boots that hit the middle of the calf.
Let’s talk shoes!
Of course, these 7 shoe styles are only the beginning! While all of these options are fantastic, the best shoes are the ones that make YOU look and feel your best.
I could talk about shoes for days, so let’s keep the conversation going!
Take my poll and then and share a photo of yourself wearing your favorite shoes in the comments below!

the boots I have on in this pic witch you cant see all of it almost knee high their pole climber boots fore like pole dancing other then that none of my shoes have heals only these ones do they wore worth it I don’t use them all the time mostly with the skirt I’m wearing in the picture.
You are looking fantastic, looks like you are really starting to develop!
You look beautiful with or without the shoes..
I have over 100 pairs of shoes and boots (love boots!) from flats to platforms, career to casual, and sneakers to elegant heels. Thankfully I an only 5′ 8″ and wear women’s size 9. Most of my “collection” is around a 4″ heel but do have some as high as 6″. Being that I’m full time pre-op MtF, I have the wonderful opportunity to get full use of all my shoes and boots on a daily basis.
I actually own every style of heels that was in this great article. I have such a shoe and purse fetish! Haha This pic is the boots that I pulled out the other day. I wear a size 10.5 but they are difficult to find so 11 works most of the time.
Sweet!!
Another great place to shoe shop online or at the stores if there are any near you is DSW. I get most of my shoes there.
So you’re the one who gets what I want before I do. No but seriously, I agree, DSW is awesome. I think I’ve bought over 40 pairs from them in the past 2 years including the pair in my pic which I got for less than $20!
Hello Lucille,
Love your column and all the articles you make available for us. I would like to add, if I may, two very good stores that offer an excellent selection of women’s shoes. I am in love with all types of Pumps, Sling-Backs, and High Heeled Sandals with angle straps. Two stores that I have found that carry an excellent selection of High Heels as well as all styles of women’s shoes are 6 PM and On Line Shoes. Both have On-line shopping and carry an ample selection of women’s sizes. I wear a women’s 10-1/2 M (B)which is still a hard to fine size in women’s heels whereby the shoes don’t look like ugly plastic boats or cheap imitation copies. I have found that these two stores do an excellent job of carrying shoe sizes that are larger than a size 10 and the styles are very Feminine as well as carry a higher end look.
Looking forward to your next column.

Dana you look amazing in your picture.
Sorry my phone auto corrected your name Dawna and didn’t notice until I hit submit.
I love being femmine, its makes me feel good, after all “make love not war” being vegan really helps, god really knew what he was doing when he made a woman!
Sadly, fallen arches, diabetes and age have made it mostly impossible to wear any high heels (like 4 to 5 inches) anymore. Kitten heels, maybe up to 2 inches or mostly flat shoes for this sensible lady; runaway bride rings a bell (running shoes).
Can’t currently afford orthopedic inserts either.
