It’s impossible not to feel totally girly in a beautiful bra…
But did you know there’s a good chance you are wearing the WRONG size bra?
Don’t feel bad… 80% of bra wearers are too! This includes crossdressers and transgender women – as well as cisgender (genetic) women.
Wearing the correct bra size is critical. Bras that don’t fit right are uncomfortable and look bad under your clothes.
In this blog post, I’ll show you how to find your correct MTF bra size so you can choose the perfect bra for your female transformation.
How to Determine Your Correct Bra Size – Without Breast Forms
Determining your correct bra size begins with a choice: Will you be wearing breast forms with the bra?
In this section, I’ll explain how to find the correct bra size for your ACTUAL breasts (without breast forms). In the section below, I’ll show you how to find the correct bra size if you wear breast forms.
There are several ways to measure your bra size. The method below is simplest way to measure your bra size. This method is used by Victoria’s Secret and most modern bra manufacturers:
Step 1: Measure your band size
Place a tape measure under your arms and measure your chest circumference just above the breasts. The tape measure should be about the level where your bra straps meet the bra.
This measurement is your BAND SIZE. (Note: If the measurement is an odd number, round down to the nearest even number.)
Step 2: Measure your bust size
Stand up tall and measure across the fullest part of your bust. The tape measure should be parallel to the floor and shouldn’t be too tight or too loose.
This is your BUST SIZE. (Note: If the measurement is between inches, round up to the nearest inch.)
Step 3: Calculate your cup size
Subtract your band size (from Step 1) from your bust size (from Step 2) and check the chart below to determine your cup size:
If The Difference Is: | Your Cup Size Is: |
0″-1/2″ (1.3 cm) | AA |
1/2″- 1″ (2.6 cm) | A |
2″ (5.1 cm) | B |
3″ (7.6 cm) | C |
4″ (10.2 cm) | D |
5″ (12.7 cm) | DD or E |
6″ (15.2 cm) | DDD or F |
7″ (17.8 cm) | G |
8″ (20.3 cm) | H |
9” (22.9 cm) | I |
10″ (25.4 cm) | J |
For example, if your band size is 40” and your bust size is 44”, the difference is 4”. That would make you a D cup.
Your bra size is a combination of your band size and your cup size. (Bra size = band size + cup size) In this case, your bra size would be a 40D.
IMPORTANT: This size should be considered a starting point, as sizing varies from bra to bra. If possible, try on the actual bra before you buy.
How to Determine Your Correct Bra Size – With Breast Forms
If you wear breast forms, the process for finding your bra size is a bit different. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Measure your band size
(Note: These instructions are the same as above, but I’ll repeat them here.)
Place a tape measure under your arms and measure your chest circumference just above the breasts. The tape measure should be about the level where your bra straps meet the bra.
This measurement is your BAND SIZE. (Note: If the measurement is an odd number, round down to the nearest even number.)
Step 2: Determine your ideal cup size
The next step is to determine the cup size you want to achieve. This should be a size that’s proportionate to your body: Not too big and not too small.
Generally speaking, the larger your body frame is, the larger your cup size should be.
Here are some guidelines:
- Choose an B or C cup if you have a small frame.
- Choose a C or D cup if you have a medium frame.
- Choose a D cup or larger if you have a large frame.
Once you know your correct band size and desired cup size, you can purchase the proper bra and breast forms.
Easy right? 🙂
Finding A Bra That Fits
Knowing your correct bra size is one thing. Actually FINDING that bra is another.
Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to find bras outside the standard size range.
Here are some sites that carry a large range of bra sizes:
- Barenecessities.com – Bare Necessities offers a huge selection of bras, including plus size bras with smaller cup sizes. (Perfect for girls who don’t wear breast forms.)
- HerRoom.com – Her Room is another large lingerie site that stocks hard to find sizes. They offer band sizes up to 58, so there’s a bra for almost everybody.
Another option is to purchase a bra extender. A bra extender is an elasticized piece of fabric that hooks onto the back of your bra. It can add 1-3 inches to the bra band, so it’s a great solution for bras that are too tight.
So there you are, girlfriend! Everything you need to know about finding your correct bra size.
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please leave me your comments below. And if you have any beautiful bra pics, don’t forget to include them!
Love,
Lucille

Hi Lucile,
I have been cross dressing for a little while now, and never have found a really good fitting bra to go with any type of waredrobe until I came across tour article and method of properly measuring for the right bra.
I wasconfident with this info I could get measured and be satisfied.
As it turned out I went to a local department store, dressed as a women of course, and was treated very professionally by the sales clerk. She seemed to completely understand my needs and was very helpful in making sure I was completely satisfied with my new bra. In fact, it was so overwlmingly comfortable I bought three in various colors and wore one of the news out the door. I got a lot of looks as I walked through the mall. I did have my full make and long flowing wig. No tace of being a man whats so ever.
Thank very much. I couldn’d be happier with my new bras and myself.

Hi I wear a size 20 – 22 swimsuit and wondered what my bra size is
Hello
I wondered if you could help me. I am a bigender male whose female side wants to express herself. I am looking for breast forms which make me look like a natural woman. I am 6ft 2in tall with a chest size of 43. My bra size is 44 in, normally I have bought a bra in D cup, but found that the cup size was too big for my D cup breast forms. I get confused as to what cup size I need. I have bought breast forms in the past these are tear drop breast forms in D cup, but I found them to make me feel to big. I also found D cup bras were too big, so I bought a C cup bra and felt it suited me better. I am now going to buy another pair of breast forms, thinking of buying C cup breast forms, I think weight is around 800g. Will buying C cup breast be a good idea. Which is better to get a more natural breast look, tear drop breast or rounded fuller breast forms. Can you help me get the right look, because I want to take the huge step and go out into the world as a natural woman. Thank you for your help.
I’m no expert on this but you can’t buy breast forms that way hun, don’t get me wrong I know that some places that sell them list them like that but a 44D is massively different to say a 34D, try looking at bras in a store to get a rough idea of the band size your D’s are ment for, then try and convert remember that where ever you start when you go up a band size you go down a cup size ( so a 34D is equal in cup size to a 36C) hope this helps you out a bit

Girl friend I had the same problem when k first started I could not then I did Now I got tired of wearing them so I went to a dr got implants I’m a 38c feels good I have had them for over ten years now the money I spent was a wise move to look more like a female I go to the beach I look like a female I would check on a plastic surgery
Natural breasts are more tear drop in shape, so if that is the look you are going for I would say go for tear drop. Bra sizes can definitely be confusing, especially since they tend to be inconsistent between brands and even styles in the same brands. A lot of mtf sites recommend that for taller people and those with larger shoulders to wear D or larger cups, but I’ve never felt that that is really true, and instead is dependent on a number of factors surrounding body type. For example, one of my sisters is a cis women, and while she is 6’1″ in height, she only wears an A cup, and even though she is small breasted for her height she still looks fine. So if you feel more confident and comfortable in a C cup, I would say go for it.
Hi all tg girl
I’m a male that is beginning to get into cross dressing. I’ve been attracted to plus size women and love bigger breasts. I’m rather skinny but want to have big breasts. Size DD or bigger. Will that look ok on me?
honey you need to study woman of your size and weight . If you have the desire to pass you dont want to look unnatural. you should try to blend in. Face the facct that natural breast size of skinny womman really never get larger then a C cp and most of them by far are B’s or A’s. those you see larger then that are augmented. But be for warned , breast sizes are a combination related to chest size. a breast form designed to the tyipical 36 inch chest will be different if your chest size is larger. S o if you by the D size made for a smaller girl you size it will be smaller . A C cup size for a 36 inch chest will actually be a Acup for a 4o inch chest . so depending on your size you may have to go bigger or small ; its one cup size for every 2 inches either way. hope you understand and this helps you.
love ,Annie
never thinking this would happen to me, Marr, once befor that love my x 38dd bras even try one on i just couldent help myself her full slip and shaper, Anyway she found me on day and that was it, i left but i have found somesone a lady who like me she turning herself into a very good looking male, Myself becomeing her 5,9 now 40hh 27,42, to tell you the true its hard wear hh cup size she loves it i like being a woman but all breast , i think you look very nice
If you are skinny, even “smaller” sized breasts will look large on you. If you want a more natural look I would go for a C or D cup. But this can also depend on your height, if you are under 5’5″, a C cup would most likely look better, 5’6″-5’10” the D would most likely be your best option, and if you are close to 6′ or taller, then DD would work for you for a larger breast size. But the most important thing is that you feel confident in your body and how you look, so if the way you feel best is with DD+ than that is what size cup you will look the most comfortable and natural at.
Dearest Lucille,
I did step (1) and I measured 39 then I did (step #2) & I measured 42, so I determined that I was (42 – 39) = 3 which is 7.6 cm or a C cup. I do use “breast forms so i re-did my measurements with breast forms in a Playtex 18 Hour bra: Measurments (!) under arm pits 41 & around breasts with inserts = 45 so (45-41 = 4) (D) cup. and the Playtex bra is a 40 D. So am I correct that this is my correct Bra size? Please if you can reply to my comment, let me know if I did measuring correct or Incorrect. Luv you Ms. Lucille. Robin Jennifer
I was wondering if there was a list of stores that were transgender friendly to get a bra fitting ?????
honey , that depends highly on which part of the country you live in. conservative states are probly harder to get fitted. but if you live in a more liberal state feel freeto go just about any where. i live as a full time trans in the north west . i can go any where i want and feel safe. i have never ever, not even once treated poorly. i feel totally free to shop anywhere i want and buy anything i need. I got fitted at Macy’s they were very kind and the woman had me try on several bras she thought were my size. even tho my measurements say i’m a 40 c i found a 38b cup was ideal for me. i bought bras online using the standard measurement tables and my bras usually were to big. it something about trans that make the size wrong for me. Maybe its that our breast are farther a part or the tend to angle out wards more . so you need to get dressed and go to a store and ask for help. they wont toss you out babe. i find that Trans is an excepted life choice up here in Seattle
love Annie
Bravissimo!! x
