It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
My name was chosen after several months.. When I advised my mother that I was becoming a female, she stated that she would always call me Ray (my previous identity).. being Jewish I chose the name Rachel; my middle name was processed from a G-F friend from high school and my last name took some time due to lack of participation from my relatives, so I took the last name of a co-student (since it ringed)..
I was struggling to work out a unique but popular name but then I remembered one of my fave musical movies grease I love sandy in that so I thought mm I like that name so I chose sandy but tweaked it to be slightly different and named it Sandi with an I and I’ve loved it ever since.
It is very similar to my legal name, and I love the Allman Brothers song.
Not being satisfied with the options provided by my given name. I struggled for sometime before settling on my current name an middle name of Lynn. I’ve been more than satisfied with my selection for 10 yrs
My first time out in public was to a party at Christmas, so Carole was born; the ‘e’ was added for a bit of class (lol)
When I was in high school I read a book about someone that had to hide his identity for a short time and he chose a name that was similar to his own so that if someone called his real name and he reacted it wouldn’t seem all that strange. When I first started going out I thought it might be smart to do the same. Originally I was going to go with Rachel Jean, but life interfered and I had to remain as Ray for work so I changed it to Raychel and when someone calls me Ray, I just figure it’s short for my real name.
I was asked to participate in a woman less beauty pageant to raise money for Relay for Life in my local community. All the contestants were asked to fill out a form from which pageant questions would be asked. At the top of the form we were asked to write our name. Most used catchy names like ‘blues-baby’ and ‘red hot mamma’. I had not thought about a female name before. I put my pen on the line and I wrote Dawn. It was automatic. When I saw it written I smiled and got goosebumps as I knew then that was who I had always been.
my name is lynn but i would change it to lynor or lynda. i alway thought i should have been born a girl
