It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
I wanted names that would match my initials. I always thought Deborah was a beautiful D name. I thought Marie would go well with Deborah.

Jo,
You are always so well put together, pretty ,appropriately. I have always admired you over the years…keep on Truck’ n lady!

I knew a lady named Rebecca. She was so feminine. That’s how I picked Rebecca.
Halloween, 2008, I had just moved into a hip part of town. I dressed in a jumpsuit with scarf, full makeup, and hair long and flowing. I needed some things for the holiday, and went to the neighborhood supermarket. When I was checking out, the register clerk told me that – with the outfit and hair – I looked like Lauren Bacall. Since my previous name was given to me by roughnecks on a river dredge, and not complimentary, I was delighted and immediately assumed my new name!

I wanted a name which kept my initials the same,to make it easier for signatures. I also knew which I really admired and it matched my initials.
I’ve always been partial to Michelle, Lisa and Kelli… so for years I was Kelli. I dated an incredibly awesome GG and she just adored and embraced my transgender nature. She felt like I was too sexy for a ‘Kelli’ (her words not mine) so she said I should change it to Taryn— it was more fitting for me.
I thought it was beautiful and made the change.
I first heard the name Cara in a banking institution when my wife and I were applying for a mortgage loan. After speaking with the Bank Manager, he called Cara, the new Office Manager at our local branch, to prepare all the documents for us to sign. I thought as soon as I heard the name that it was beautiful, even mentioning to my wife that we should add it to the list of possible names for our daughter if we ever had one. She agreed and we added the name, but when the day came that our daughter was born, the Nurse asked my wife the Baby’s name, and she immediately replied Lauren, also a beautiful name for our little girl. Fifteen years later, my life apparently suddenly took a turn and the name Cara was still available, so I took it as my own during 5 years of therapy sessions, finally making it official a little over 4 years ago. I still love the name Cara, and Jean just seemed to fit well with it, so now my corrected birth certificate reads Cara Jean!
I always loved the name Jennifer. I met some many cute girls with the name. There are others I like (Heather) but Jennifer stuck. Have always been happy with it.
