It’s amazing how much our names shape our identities. Some names feel like a perfect fit from the start, while others never quite resonate with us.
However, crossdressers and transgender women have the unique opportunity to choose their own feminine names.
Every great MTF name has a story behind it, and I’d love to hear YOURS.
How did you choose your feminine name?
Please tell us your story in the comments below, and if you can, share a photo too. It’s always lovely to put a face to a name!
Love,
Lucille
I found a name that had the same initials as my male name. Just felt there should be some connection
My chosen name Joann was a no-brainer, changing Johan into Joann. Johanna would have been an option too, but that sounded too old-fashioned and conservative, something a cross-dresser is not likely to be (perhaps). My wife calls me Tootsie, a sort of pet name I choose based on Dustin Hoffman’s character in the movie Tootsie, which I found quite inspiring at the time.
When I started dressing, I never considered a name, but was suggested I take one to help out. So I just feminizied my male name of Terry to Terri. Been using that name for most of my dressing time. Then when had a couple of fem friends living with me that supported my dressing were getting confused when I would mention Terri. They weren’t too sure which Terry/Terri I was referring to. So a friend of one of the fem friends started referring to me as Teralina. I liked the name since it sounded more formal so I adjusted my name for that, with Terri still being for short. Johnson is just a play on my middle name, being John so went with Johnson as it is a very common style name and seemed to work with Terri Johnson then became Teralina Johnson.
So that is my fem name history.
I chose Stephanie Michelle because, despite being teased and bullied by being called “Stephanie” in reference to my assigned name. But I do like the name and I feel it suits me. Michelle was the name my parents woild have given me, if I had the good fortune to have been born cisfemale
I was lucky. I was born Kim and through life people called me Kim but once I got to high school, everybody called me Kimmy. While in high school I legally change my name from Kim to Kimmy. I got a new birth certificate all my IDs have been changed instead of Kim they now say Kimmy and then my last name. That’s how I got my name
Haven’t officially changed my name yet from Michael, but everyone knows me as Michelle. Hey–if Stephen Colbert can pronounce his name as “Steven Colbear” why can’t I pronounce Michael as “Michelle”?
I have always been a great fan of the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s. The legendary Myrna Loy is one of my favorite actresses, so I took her name.
Many kisses!
I am of French decent over 120 years ago so I looked up 100 most popular female names in French . Harper was there and I think it’s classy and sexy.
The middle name “Paige”. Came from a favorite Bob Seager song called “Turn the Page” . I am definitely turning the page in my life with my transition and love the name. It is also french.
