Planning to step out en femme? Don’t forget your bag! More than just a stylish accessory, your purse is a toolbox for your female self.
While a cluttered bag isn’t chic, there are some essentials you shouldn’t be without. You never know what life will throw at you – and a lady is always prepared!
In this blog post, I share 15 transgender / crossdressing items to keep in your purse when you are on the go.
1. Cell phone
Needless to say, you should never leave home without your phone. Besides, you never know when the perfect selfie opportunity will arise!
2. Lip Gloss or Lipstick
A moisturizing lip gloss or lipstick in your favorite shade is a female essential.
3. Mints or Gum
Freshen your breath on the go by keeping a stash of mints or gum on hand.
4. Nail File
There’s nothing more annoying than a broken nail, so throw one of these babies into your bag.
5. $20 Cash
Even though most of us rely on credit or debit cards, you never know when you might need some cash.
6. Hand Cream
Keep your hands feeling soft and feminine with a tube of hand cream.
7. Blotting Paper or Powder
Reduce shine on the go with blotting paper or pressed powder.
8. Bobby Pins
These come in handy if you need to secure your wig or tame some loose strands of hair.
9. Compact Mirror
A must-have for checking your teeth or makeup.
10. Stain Removal Pen
The sooner you treat an unexpected stain, the less likely it is to be permanent.
11. Band-Aids
Not just for cuts and scrapes, a Band-Aid can relieve blisters caused by new shoes.
12. Safety Pins
Those can be a lifesaver if you break a strap or pop a button.
13. Emergency Info
Not to be a downer, but if anything should happen, this could literally save your life.
14. Advil or Tylenol
Keep a couple painkillers on hand in case you get a surprise headache.
15. Healthy Snack
Hunger can sneak up on you, so keep a healthy snack bar or some nuts in your bag.

My handbag is so much of part my girly me and I love it. Going out, I always have a spare tampon and a spare liner to stay fresh. I always wear a pad when going out as it’s so girly. Lipstick and lip liner, eye makeup and hand cream as well as a small bottle of purfume. My time to freshen up in the ladies, is what I look forward to as part of being who I am. I love to change my clothes at least a couple of times a day, street wear in the morning, more dressed later in the afternoon and then whatever the evening brings. So my changes of handbag in a ritual each day to check that I am ready to be the best I can be. It’s lovely being a girl. I am so lucky to be be able to embrace my femininity.
Lipstick, a small flask of my favorite perfume, Balenciaga, an extra set of ear rings, in case I lose one, a feminine deodorant and of course some pantiliners…
Along with all the above suggestions, I also carry the following in my handbag:
– hairbrush
– pack of tissues
– notepad and pen
– condoms
– panty liners and a couple of pads
A note about the last item on my list. On 2 occasions, I was in the ladies’ room at a club, and was asked if I had any pads or tampons for a woman in need. The first time, I just shook my head no, but the second time, I was prepared and was able to help. As a transwoman, it really made me feel like “one of the girls”.
spear set of nylons & some top cat nail liquid, just in case, I have a small tin of mints, no gum, and I always have enough cash tucked away for a cab home and a coffee in case I lose my purse, plus about £30-£50, never go anywhere without my lipstick, and whatever make-up I put on for touch-ups, small purse size bottle of the perfume, small case of blotting paper I was bought, small sewing kit, small first-aid kit, & my nail file, though I see I need hairpins, ho I keep them all in a small wash bag that I can move from one bag to the next and they are not all over the place if I drop my bag if it’s of any use to anyone out there, love to you all, georgie, xx
As always, a nice recommended purse Lucille.
My purse always includes a maxi-pad, tampon, hair brush, travel size perfume, mascara (for touch ups), nail polish (for touch ups), a mini sewing kit with an eyed-pin and several colors of thread, a pen, Post-It notes pad, floss (just in case after lunch), and my sunglasses.
Nice list! I don’t have some itemz, gotta fix that. A tiny Swiss army knife has a nail file (screwdriver tip), wee scissors, toothpick, tweezers (poor), and a blade, can use for nail cleaning. My need for painkillers is almost nil. I carry a miniature cinnamon whiskey; a tiny sip kills coughs in the theater. lasts forever, can sub for mints. A mini-sewing kit may come in handy. Some of these items can be kept in a small bag for quick transfer. Sadly, my wallet gets too fat, needs extractions. Yes, safety pins! Band-aids usually get given to another, then one is sometimes needed before I replace them (durn it!).
