Your walk is a critical aspect of your female image. Learning how to walk in a naturally feminine way can do wonders to enhance your overall appearance.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to go from one extreme (a masculine walk) to the other (over-exaggerated hip swinging).
How can you find a happy medium as you master your feminine movements? I’m glad you asked!
In this article, I share 3 simple tips to help you achieve a natural, womanly walk. Read on to learn more!
1. Try the Hip Matrix
A big difference between men and women is that women tend to have more fluid body movements.
That means you can sway your hips all you want – but until you learn how to “loosen up” your body, your feminine walk will look stiff and unnatural.
The Hip Matrix can help with this. Created by movement specialist Rob Brinded, the Hip Matrix exercise is designed to release tension and free up your body movements so you can achieve a flowing, feminine walk.
Watch the video above and then try it for yourself. If you compare your walk before and after, I promise you’ll be amazed by the difference!
P.S. You can learn more about Rob’s approach to feminine movement in my Stepping Out Secrets Program.
2. Practice in High Heels
Women have a lower center of gravity than men due to their wider hips. This creates that sexy hip sway that’s characteristic of a feminine walk.
Forcing your hips to sway usually looks unnatural. Instead, practice walking in high heels. High heels change your center of gravity and exaggerate the forward curve of your spine. This helps release the hips, which naturally feminizes your movements.
You can enhance this effect by trying to keep your shoulders still as you walk. This forces you to use your hips for balance.
Once you’ve mastered hip walking in heels, practice the same movements in flat shoes.
3. Shorten Your Stride
Shortening your stride is another easy and effective way to feminize your walk.
The average woman’s step length (the distance from the toe of one foot to the toe of the opposite foot) is 26”. So if you want to be scientific about it, get out a ruler and measure your steps! Your natural stride is probably longer, so work on taking shorter steps.
Note: The higher your heels are, the shorter your steps should be.
Conclusion
There are other subtle elements that define a feminine walk, but these tips are a great place to start. Give them a try and let me know what you think!
I’d also love to hear about any other movement tips or techniques you’ve found helpful. Please share in the comments below.

Dear Lucille, I have seen many articles about “how to walk like a woman” . In fact there is NO right way or wrong way ,as I have noticed natural born females all walk differently from one another !! I have observed this now for months . Some walk fast, others walk slowly .The worst are fashion models on the cat walk , they walk far too fast , and look very sexless indeed. A natural woman to walk ( in high heels/stilettos)sexily and naturally is to walk slowly ……I am afraid this passion for so many women to wear trainers/pumps/sneakers ( with jeans ) has killed the natural sexy walk and movement a woman once had ( like Maryln Monroe, Jayne Mansfield etc ).
Sounds like you have some insider knowledge. Sneakers should be banned, ooooooff.
Love your photo Would you like to correspond with a married 70 year young who lives in Western Australia who has been a crossdresser from a very early age Treat this email as being very genuine
Great site, great tips. My sisters and I grew up taking dance together from about the age of three until graduation from high school. Mom got the idea in the back of head that someday we would all be models for penny’s or sear’s or some catalog. She would make up practice walking back and forth in heels, keeping our shoulders still balancing a book on our heads. We all thought it was great fun.
Yes I agree with Deborah, a good exercise is to simply walk on your tip-toes–it increases tension on your hips, lowering you center-of-gravity, which itself makes the walk read as female. Also, it shortens your stride and strengthens your ankle and instep muscles, which helps you walk in heels!
As for walking in heels, I think this helps us connect with our innocent side as we all probably started out, when young, trying out mother’s shoes, and that innocence is refreshing, breaking down inhibitions.
Hya Lucille,
A really good way to walk femininely,I find,is to walk on your tip-toes;it leans you into a natural womanly sway, helping your hips to pivot with an ease of movement.I naturally walk like this when I’m in barefeet and it’s always been a subconscious way of walking(the first sign of my inner femme self).
You’re doing a fantastic job here,Lucille, helping so many of us to realise our female selves.I’m looking forward to putting more pictures on here and improving on my look,

Thank you for this advice. I realized that my walk was not entirely feminine and have been trying to improve it for a very long time. I practice often and always set up a camera and take videos of my walk. I always wear high heels and I try to take a shorter stride both of which have greatly improved my walk and now I feel it is geting to be perfect.
