A girl can never own too many bras, right?
But with so many bra options to choose from, it’s easy to go wrong and wear a bra that’s the incorrect size or style for your body type.
Want to enhance your feminine curves – without wasting money on bad bra purchases?
In this post, I share how to flatter and feminize your body with the 7 best bras for trans women and crossdressers.
1. Pocket Bra
A pocket bra, or mastectomy bra, has pockets in the cups to hold breast forms securely in place. If you wear breast forms (especially large or heavy forms), a pocket bra is a must.
2. Front Closure Bra
Crossdressers and transgender women tend to have wide rib cages and/or widely spaced breasts. This can make it hard to find a bra that fits properly.
Enter the front closure bra. Front closure bras have a clasp in the front of the bra instead of the back. These bras have wider set cups, making them easier to fit.
3. T-shirt Bra
The t-shirt bra is every girl’s best friend. It’s a seamless, molded cup bra that’s designed to look smooth under your clothes – even the most form-fitting tee. Best of all, t-shirt bras come in a wide range of sizes.
4. Convertible Bra
A common complaint I hear from crossdressers and transgender women is that many bras have straps that aren’t long enough for them.
Convertible bras offer a perfect solution. Convertible bras have removable straps that can be worn in different ways – including crisscrossed. Because of this, they have longer straps than regular bras.
5. Balconette Bra
Balconette bras have cups that are cut horizontally across the bust. This is a beautiful cup style that’s particularly flattering to wide rib cages and/or wide set breasts.
Most balconette bras are padded, so they’re also great for giving “the girls” some extra oomph.
6. Wireless Bra
Underwire bras offer maximum support, so they’re ideal if you wear breast forms. However, they can be hard to fit if you have a wide chest.
Consider wearing a wireless bra instead. Wireless bras have a more forgiving fit, so they’re much more comfortable.
If you want to wear a soft cup bra with breast forms, look for a wireless pocketed bra or attach the breast forms to your chest with tape or adhesive.
7. Adhesive Bra
Adhesive bras are a backless, strapless bra style that’s attached to the breasts with adhesive.
These bras are fabulous for creating cleavage, so they’re a must for your femme wardrobe. (Click here to learn more about how to create cleavage with an adhesive bra.)
In conclusion
While you don’t need to limit yourself to these 7 bra styles (the sky’s the limit in bra land!), they’re a great place to start.
Now I’d like to hear about YOUR favorite bras. Is there a particular bra style or brand that works for you?

I wear a 38C underwire. I only wear underwires because they’re very comfortable for me. My favorite bra is the Bali flower. I have several of them and they fit wonderfully. I also have a few Wacoal bras but they’re rather expensive so I only wear them on special occasions.
Karen: I don’t wear or need underwire BRAS ! PLAYTEX BRAS work the best for me ! I like to show off my “GIRLISH” figure !
I like strapless push up bras when (I am in my man mode no one can see that I have a bra on as long as I wear a loose fitted shirt as my girls are at 52 c’s.I love the feel of them.My one doctor had me on finnasteride for about 6 years and they started growing so I just went on estradial 2mg two times a day.You have to do what you have to do so gurls don’t get disapointed keep trying.
I love padded and push up bras that add 2size to the cup so if you are 38B the 2cups size will make you a 38D. I do love V.S.
Lucille, I notice that my Nike sports bra pushes my gurls forward and maximises my profile, much more than other bras (no matter how nice). I notice that some bras are advertised as having a side band to push breasts forward. 2 points: firstly the sports bra has a lot of coverage so is no good with a low cut blouse, secondly, how do you recognise this ‘side band’ that can enhance one’s profile so.
I have been wondering for ages; would love to know
Balconette bra works perfect for me I am a cross dresser and I feel my brests very comfortable in it so thank you for your tip it helped me a lot 🙂
I like both underwired and non styles. It depends on what I’m doing or where I may be going to determine which I will wear. Having smaller breasts, it’s hard to keep bra cups in place when reaching up for something, no matter what style of bra. Even underwire bras slip up, even when they are fit right.
For leisure, I love softcup bras with thin straps.
If you would really like to have larger more beautiful breasts you should look at the following, http://www.noogleberry.com along with a good breast enlargement cream such as http://www.naturaful.com which combining both has worked well for me. I’m currently a really nice 38C and growing, hoping to get to a 38D.
With my band at 52 and my brests at 64 I have a 12 inch or M cup. Who even makes something like that??? However, when I wear a 52 C my brest does not fill the cup. At nearly 400#, i am very flabby under my arms. Any way, getting a good fit is a mystery to me.
Sunnilee: you look great to me ! Try wearing Playtex Bras…4 hooks in the back will help to smooth you out. I have the same problem and they work for me ! You are a cutie pie !!!
