If you’re like many of my transgender or crossdressing readers, you might not be able to present yourself as a woman each day.
That doesn’t mean you have to lose your female side when it’s time to put on the pants!
In this post, I share 5 ways to stay in touch with your femininity – even in male mode.
1. Wear Women’s Underwear
Let’s start with the most obvious tip, shall we? Wearing women’s underwear underneath your male clothing is the easiest way to connect with your feminine self on a daily basis.
Aside from that, women’s panties tend to be more comfortable than men’s boxers or briefs. Plus, they come in loads of cute and sexy styles to add some secret pizazz to your outfit.
2. Try Stealth Crossdressing
Wearing lingerie under your clothes is a classic, but why stop there? Sneaking a piece of women’s clothing into your daily outfit is a great way to feel girly.
A lot of women’s clothing can pass for unisex, so try wearing women’s:
- Basic tees
- Button-down shirts
- Jeans and pants
Don’t forget about accessories! You could also play with wearing women’s boots or using a tote bag as a laptop bag or briefcase.
3. Apply Incognito Makeup
There are lots of ways to incorporate makeup into your daily look, even when presenting as a male. Here are 4 must-have makeup items:
- Concealer or foundation – Apply a thin layer to cover under eye circles or blemishes.
- Setting powder – Apply to shiny spots on your face, like the nose or forehead.
- Clear mascara – Use it to make your eyelashes look subtly longer and fuller.
- Uncolored lipstick – Instead of boring Chapstick, care for your lips with a clear lipstick.
4. Use the Power of Scent
Scents have a powerful effect on your brain chemistry and mood, so this is a great way to connect with your feminine side.
Wear women’s perfume instead of cologne. Musky fragrances are the most unisex, so you can wear them without anybody knowing your secret. (Check out my article on perfume to learn more about choosing the right scent.)
Another option is to burn a scented candle with a feminine fragrance in your home or office.
5. Keep Reminders of Your Female Self
Another tip is to surround yourself with reminders of the woman within.
One way to do this is through photos. Keep photos of your femme self on your phone, in your wallet, or even framed and hung up so you can see them often.
You could also carry around items personalized with your feminine name, such as a necklace, keychain, or coffee mug.
6. Try Feminizing Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a powerful way to increase confidence, reprogram habits and behaviors, and improve the way you express yourself as a woman.
Best of all, it’s the ultimate mental escape – allowing you to connect with you female self regardless of your current situation.
Try it for yourself by signing up for my free Unleash Your Inner Woman hypnosis mini-session here.
How do YOU stay connected?
In an ideal world, you’d be free to present yourself as a woman whenever and wherever you wanted. Until then, I hope this gives you ideas for expressing your female side anytime you want!

everything you said is true. i have only women’s jeans and sneakers and several pairs of women’s slacks in unisex colors. i always wear a bra and panties and usually a cami. i pluck my eyebrows, and use women’s soaps, shampoos and shaving proucts. not bad for a middle aged lifelong cd.
Hi Lucille, I dawn myself into the femme apparel 24/7. Panties, pantyhose and a bra are a must for me. I do spray a perfume fragrance on most of the time and use a femme deodrant. I do wear femme clothes or I will blend them into the situation that I believe I will be around. My next adventure will be getting a manicure and pedicure. Bye for now lol. Jakklyn
Goodbye forever, body hair (thx Veet!); hello pedicure, panties, Facebook, pierced ears (earrings on display in bathroom)and plucked eyebrows. I’m always Barbara between my ears, even when in male “drag”. Good luck, girls, xoxoBarbara.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that before living full time, and when I was wearing all unisex clothing, it actually calmed and eased my sense of displacement and terrible unhappiness being trapped in a male body and world. So it actually provided a great sense of confirmation of gender and gave me some degree of peace 🙂
Sarah
You are so feminine sweetie !!!

Hi Lucille and ladies,
I live full time as a woman, but before I did, I wore all women’s unisex kinds of clothing, shoes, etc. so I really found that suggestion to be really awesome. Totally love it 🙂 xo
Sarah
I so LOVE to dress, look be a girl so 24/7 I do so no matter
where I go.From bra & panties to make-up and perfume & keeping my entire body hair-free. I am just not ME unless I AM dressed, looking and BEING a girl!!!
So when it comes to dressing & looking as a girl I go with the totally girl/female clothes, make-up & perfume/deodorant, and very seldom bother with unisex clothes.
hi lucille i like to wear my panties and pantyhoes every day iwould like to wear more womans close but wen you live in a small town it is very hard to do more then that if any one has any idias to dressup more in womans close in public let me no
Hard? How hard is it in reality? Have you tried anything to test their reaction or see how observant they are? Doesn’t sound like it. The articles of clothing and stuff Lucille was suggesting are easy to get away with but on a bolder note try this. Pick a nail polish color like medium bright pink, violet or lavender to paint your nails with. Let them dry then run some errands like going to the store and/or a restaurant. Even though obvious most people wont notice because the mind’s eye makes a snap judgement based on your overall appearance ignoring the details. For some reason men are particularly oblivious. So lets say it’s time to pay for the groceries at the checkstand and you hand over the money. The clerk finally sees your nail polish and may look a little surprised and smile. You should smile too and keep looking at them eye to eye. They may or may not ask you why but you should have your excuse ready and any excuse will do. I like to tell them the truth and say, “I just can’t stay out of the fluffy stuff.” and give them that look like I don’t know why with a shrug of my shoulders and upturned hands. That makes them laugh and then you may get a compliment on the color or some other friendly remark. Some women will compare nails colors with you and talk about their nails or something related. Oh my, you might have to listen to some girl talk. Do you think you can stand it?
If I went through your town and took a survey just asking would they care if there was a crossdresser in their town I’d bet serious money at least 99% of them would say something to the effect, “No. So what?” They’re hardly worried about a man who wears girly stuff. They’ve got so much more important personal things on their minds that put you and what your wearing so low on their priority list as to be out of sight and out of mind. Expressing your feminity will gain you new friends and relationships. So what have you got to lose? Your confinement or suppression? So push the limits a little at a time if that’s what it takes for you to be comfortable enough to make some changes you’d like.
Good luck and best wishes,
Shirley
Today I am going out to shovel some snow that has accumulated on my driveway and I will be wearing my bra and panties and that will make the task so much more enjoyable. Love ya all!!
