Did you know that the colors you choose to wear have a huge impact on how others perceive you – especially when presenting as a woman?
Colors convey subtle messages that can influence whether you appear more feminine or masculine.
So, if your goal is to look more feminine as a crossdresser or transgender woman, paying attention to the colors of your clothes and accessories is essential!
In this blog post on trans / crossdressing transformation tips, I share the meanings of 12 different colors and what they project about your female self.
White
White is associated with purity and innocence, which is why it’s traditionally worn by brides. Wear white if you want to look pure, pristine, and impeccable.
Blue
Light blue sends messages of peace, trust, and understanding. Dark blue is associated with authority and masculinity (think police uniforms), so use this color sparingly.
The best shades of blue for crossdressers and transgender women are light blue and baby blue.
Pink
Pink is the color of love and romance. No surprisingly, it’s also the most feminine color, so you may want to incorporate plenty of pink into your wardrobe.
Red
Red is the most intense color of all and is associated with passion, desire, love, and sexuality. Wear red if you want to be noticed.
Black
Black is associated with power, elegance, and formality. Wear black when you want to look sophisticated and mysterious.
Purple
Purple communicates mystery, magic, and creativity. This is a great color to wear if you want to add a touch of fantasy to your look.
Green
Light green symbolizes freshness and youthfulness, while dark green is associated with money and ambition. Wear a gorgeous shade of green to add a fresh, feminine vibe to your look.
Yellow
Yellow is the color of joy and energy. Wear yellow to show off your fun, playful side. Avoid yellow when you want to be taken seriously.
Orange
Like yellow, orange is associated with joy, enthusiasm, and attraction. This is a great color to wear when you want to liven things up.
Brown
Brown is a stable, wholesome, and down-to-earth color. Wear brown for mellow occasions or if you want to appear reliable and genuine.
Gray
Gray is a great color to wear when you need to come across as professional and trustworthy. Too much gray can get boring though, so be sure to punch it up with some fun colors.
Beige
Beige is a simple, conservative color that’s friendly, approachable and non-threatening. It’s perfect for times when you want people to open up to you.

P.S. Color is a HUGE topic that doesn’t just relate to clothes. Hair and makeup are equally important!

I love absolutely all colors and feel sorry for men who have to wear for their business attire, mostly dark color suits. Being able to dress with the array of colors available to female makes me feel so happy; you just cannot imagine! 🙂
I chose purple in the poll but am just starting out, in this transition. I also like black & red clothes. But the other day i bought a pink blouse and also a floral and white blouse a black and white skirt and a little black dress which every woman should have and a pair of purple high heels. I have 2 red dresses a couple of yellow dresses and some old floral print dresses which i bought a long time ago that are very short. Since its spring time i think i need to do some spring cleaning of my small wardrobe. Even though it is a small wardrobe i need to change some things up and start listening to Lucille and her tips which i have been doing ever since i found this blog site thank you so very much Lucille for everything you have in this blog.
I definitely prefer black although I’m wearing a pink dress in the photo I think I suit darker colours
Purple is my favorite color followed by aqua. I wear a lot of different colors.
It seems that our closet has a lot of blue, mostly the lighter shades. I do like to add a touch of dark blue accent, such as hair ribbons or jewelry.
The classic white blouse over a black skirt is my standard ‘go to work’ outfit.
Pink is reserved for intimates and informal gatherings.
Green is my power color.
Yellow is only for highlights, Orange is my school color.
We use black sparingly, the only all black I have is my LBD and it lets a lot of pink skin show.
I noticed that I posted some time back, but this gives me another chance to appreciate Lucille’s really great advice on colors.
I stated before that blue was probably my default, but on reflection, black seems to be a frequent fall-back, just it or with other colors. It’s just SO convenient!
In winter, however, it seems only fair to the rest of the world to wear brighter colors, to cheer things up more.
I see pink is popular with Y’all. I think it gets me a bit more compliments than other colors, so maybe there is something there. But also, It does not seem to be really common, so perhaps it’s the novelty.
I get fewer compliments with beiges or browns, so those are just for times when they seem especially right. But those are more often when I’m out with mostly men (no matter what they are wearing), so I shouldn’t expect many compliments. Those guys just don’t understand how we YEARN for those verbal strokes…
OK, one more observation: I get good feedback on properly coordinated outfits. I notice that many GGs are careless about that, so it probably stands out. Good thing to keep in mind.
I have a black, white and gray striped skirt and a white blouse that my mother bought for me on a shopping trip. Looks great on me when wearing either my black flats or my low heels. I’ve wore this ensemble a few times when we go out shopping or for dinner or lunch during our times out together.
Just love to be a black dressed Goth lady !
