Clothing can be a powerful way to affirm your gender as a crossdresser or transgender woman.
While there are guidelines for achieving a fashionable and feminine look, this doesn’t mean you should be a slave to the “rules.”
Many so-called fashion rules are outdated or just plain wrong!
Are you following these 5 male to female fashion rules? If so, it might be time to break them!
Rule #1: Dress As Feminine As Possible
Nobody pulls off the feminine look quite like transgender celeb, Gigi Gorgeous. But that doesn’t mean everybody needs to dress this way!
The beauty of fashion is that you can express yourself however you want.
Whether your style is tomboyish, androgynous, or ultra feminine, anything goes. So, enjoy your individuality and dress however you want!
Rule #2: Don’t Go Without Shapewear
Shaping your body with breast forms, a corset, and hip pads can create a stunning hourglass silhouette.
When you want to feel like a bombshell, shapewear is a girl’s best friend!
But remember, you don’t have to wear all these pieces every time you dress up. Comfort should be your priority.
Wear what makes you feel fantastic, and don’t hesitate to skip the rest.
Rule #3: Always Wear High Heels
While high heels are undoubtedly sexy and feminine, there’s no rule that says you must wear them all the time.
Flats can be equally alluring if you want to be comfy, or if you’re on the tall side and don’t want to accentuate your height.
Love the look of heels but don’t want to go all out? A kitten heel (1″-2″ tall) looks elegant and can help feminize your walk – without the pain of stilettos.
Rule #4: Dress Like The Women In Your Area
I often talk about how helpful it is to observe cisgender (genetic) women. If your goal is to blend in, it’s a good idea to adhere to the style norms in your area.
However, you might have noticed that many women dress sloppily or put little effort into their appearances. If that’s not your style, don’t feel obliged to follow suit.
Look as fabulous as you want… and maybe they will start to follow your lead!
Rule #5: You Must Always Match
There are so many choices in women’s clothing that putting outfits together can be daunting.
While you should always look coordinated, forget about old fashioned rules that say you must match from head to toe. Not only is this boring, it tends to look costumey and dated.

Hello lucille this is my favorite spring dress
I love fashion and women have more fashionable styles than men has (a reason I choose to continue to dress as a woman), no matter what type of clothing these fashion makers are throwing out (especially the ugliest outfit) you still can make it to be a best choice for the fashion sense of the day. You might have to change one or two things and throw your own ideas with the outfit and it’s good. Women’s fashion is so much to do to look like a woman in fashion, unlike men, men’s clothing for fashion is the same plain (whatever color) shirt with slacks, maybe sneakers but mostly dress shoes, boring! Now women’s attire you can mix and match and still look like you have a good sense of fashion. I like making different styles and set of different styles of clothing just in case, if a particular item or the theme of the gathering or if I’m working I have my business attire for the the office and in my bag I have my club outfit or yoga outfit to change into, men they just wear the same thing all day long no thank you.

I’m 5’11. So, I tend to break rules naturally. I have a wide variety of heel styles from flats to 4” heels. I usually get looks but not because I look like an amazon warrior woman but because I’m comfortable, confident and pretty. I smile, take shorter more relaxed steps, keep my elbows close to my side and knees close together and I relax. I wear the clothes that I like. My choice of clothes keeps people from noticing that My waist isn’t necessary hour glass. I have natural b-cup breasts but I have to add some hips and butt padding. All of that makes me more relaxed and more comfortable which allows me to focus on my posture. My voice pitch goes up when I relax giving me a very passable voice and an unidentifiable tracheal notch. Toss that in with a club scene and it’s magical. I become very comfortable in that environment and in my own skin. It has taken some time. You can do it. I know you can. You wouldn’t even recognize me if you saw my male photos.
Thank you so much for stating some of this, it helps me out because I am not able to afford things like breastforms at this specific moment, and the sloppiness of females in my are is astounding. however, much of the rules don’t apply to me cause I have curly hair naturally, and am a literal stick figure, so my main issue is figuring out how to accentuate what little I do have. btw, I am 5’8 and weigh 93.7lbs currently.
Breasts forms don’t have to be expensive. The cheap Chinese ones (Wish) aren’t bad and they have good weight. You can go to craft stores (Michael’s?) and get plastic filler beads and make your own forms in a *strong* doubled-up stocking.
Lindsey, you look marvelous!! You go girl!!
