One of the quickest ways to feel more feminine is to put on lipstick.
In fact, I say you aren’t fully dressed without a swipe of lipstick or lip gloss! This applies to everyone, including crossdressers and trans women.
Whether you like a subtle clear lip or a bold red pout, your favorite lip color reveals a lot about your feminine style.
Curious what your lip color preference says about YOU? Keep reading to find out and then participate in my lip color poll below!
Red = Confident
Red lipstick is sexy, classic, and bold. It projects confidence and self-assurance.
Go for red lips if you want to attract attention and show your sensual side.
Bright Pink = Bubbly
Bright pink lips are bubbly and energetic.
This is a bold, fun shade that projects playfulness. Wear bright pink lipstick if you want to be the proverbial life of the party.
Soft Pink = Feminine
Soft pink is a delicate, feminine lipstick shade. Choose this color if you’re the romantic type and want to look soft, sweet, and girly.
Mauve or Russet = Mysterious
Mauve and russet are muted lipstick shades with purple or brown undertones.
These understated colors are perfect if you want to appear mysterious, sophisticated, and intelligent.
Burgundy or Berry = Seductive
Burgundy and berry are deep, rich lip colors for those who aren’t afraid to make a statement.
They signal confidence and boldness, but with more seriousness than pure red or bright pink. Think sexy, seductive, and a bit mysterious.
Coral = Friendly
Coral is a beautiful peachy color with undertones of pink and orange. It’s a happy color that’s perfect for friendly, bubbly personalities.
Wear coral lipstick if you want to give off positive, optimistic vibes.
Nude = Warm
Nude lips are understated and classic. They give off a warm and caring vibe.
Nude lipstick is soft and feminine, but projects more seriousness than light pink lipstick.
Lip Gloss = Fun
Glossy lips, whether clear or with a hint of color, show off a fun personality that loves the spotlight.
Wear lip gloss if you want to give off a youthful vibe with a touch of glitz and glamour.
Lip Balm = No-nonsense
Maybe you don’t wear lipstick or lip gloss at all.
If bare lips or lip balm are your “colors” of choice, you show that you want to be taken seriously. You are no-nonsense, practical, and minimalistic.

Oh… I’ve tried a few colours. But I always find myself returning to my favourite ‘femme fatale’ shade of red.

Oh wow — I love your makeup, your lips are simply gorgeous and sooooo kissable, and, well, I have something about redheads… lol
Thanks so much for the sweet comment, darling. Much appreciated x
I just love wearing lip stick and a pretty pink is definitely the one for me. It makes me feel really girly.
I have sooooo many different colors, that I like, but Soft Pink is me.
I like red, very obviously feminine. But the more neutral, deeper brown or more burgundy tones lend a depth which for me looks a lot more naturally female
i have been a pink girl forever. i think red draws attention to the jawbone and things i really don’t want others to notice right away. my toes have been pink and will be forever, my fingernails i play around with the colors.
I absolutely love pink lips I now wear lipstick everyday
Hi girls. I love red but it doesn’t matter for my partner. When we make love, it comes off. It really gets things started.
There are always those waterproof (actually, everything-proof) lipsticks… well, technically, they’re more ‘ink’ than ‘lipstick’. These days, they cost about the same as a regular lipstick, but oh boy, they stay on and on and on and will not come off easily (except, of course, with makeup remover), even after eating dinner AND, well, having sex with somebody.
Some brands are better than others, of course, but I’d encourage you to shop around for them; these days you get them in all possible shades, and although they’re slightly more tricky to apply than a regular lipstick, it’s more than worth the extra trouble!
They have two main drawbacks, though (nothing is ever perfect in this world!). Firstly, they tend to be matte and dry your lips; you’d be advised to add some lip gloss or lip balm on top of the ‘ink’. I actually often wear regular lipstick at about the same colour on top of the ‘ink’ — sure, the lipstick will come off, but most people will not notice (since the colour below is the same, or close enough!), and you’ll get the benefits of a natural-wax-based, hydrating lipstick.
The second issue is, well, as said, this is ink. While the ingredients are safe for human consumption (because you’ll inevitably eat the lipstick… even if not much), the ink really sticks to the lips for quite a long time, and unless you really have a very good quality makeup remover, it won’t come off easily. One wonders, though, how it will affect the lips long-term (since usually they dry your lips so much). A few preliminary scientific reports did not find any visible long-term effects, but, then again, most of those studies are sponsored by the cosmetics industry and may be biased…
I know the feeling girl
I always fix my lipstick before making love
I’m a totally red lipstick girl with occasionally a pink color. Always use gloss. And I also usually have my toe nails polished red as well. So much fun! Here I am the other day at Macy’s trying on a dress I bought for a party I’m going to tomorrow night! I’m 73 now and more confident now than ever in my female role. I love it!
You look absolutely gorgeous I am 68 been dressing since 13 we just get better as time goes by just like a fine wine
Go girl
Thanks Melissa! I find it now so much easier now at my age just to blend in as any other woman. I’m only 5’7” and 150 lbs, so I just go out and have fun as a lady! I’m always treated as such! Hugs, Suzy
