Clothes, hair, and makeup aren’t the only ways to enhance your femininity. The foods you eat can also have an impact!
Did you know that over 300 common foods contain plant estrogens known as phytoestrogens?
These foods and herbs have been used for natural hormone balancing for centuries. And since phytoestrogens mimic the effects of estrogen, they could potentially lead to feminizing effects such as:
- Breast growth
- Softer skin
- Redistribution of body fat
- Fuller, thicker hair
While phytoestrogens aren’t a substitute for gender affirming hormone therapy, these foods can help give you a feminine boost.
As an added bonus, they’re also super healthy and can help maintain an ideal weight. (Very important to your overall female appearance!)
Here are 5 phytoestrogen-rich foods worth including in your MTF diet:
Flaxseed
Among all foods, flaxseed is the richest source of lignans, which are a type of phytoestrogen. Flaxseed is also high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
To get the full phytoestrogenic effect, you should consume ground flaxseed (instead of whole flaxseed) for easier digestion.
Try sprinkling ground flaxseed on cereal, yogurt, fruit, and salads. (It’s super tasty!)
Soy
Soy is the most popular high-phytoestrogen food. There are tons of soy foods available, so it’s easy to work them into your diet. Here are some options to try:
- Edamame
- Tofu
- Miso
- Tempeh
- Soy beans
- Soy milk
- Soy yogurt
- Soy protein powder
Fruits and Veggies
Many common fruits and vegetables contain phytoestrogens, giving you another reason to eat your fruits and veggies.
High-phytoestrogen fruits include:
- Dried fruits (especially dried apricots, dates, and prunes)
- Peaches
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
- Pomegranates
High-phytoestrogen veggies include:
- Alfalfa sprouts
- Winter squash
- Green beans
- Collard greens
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
Lentils
Lentils (and beans in general) are rich in phytoestrogens. They’re also low cal and high in protein and fiber, making them a great MTF diet staple.
Yams
Yams are another healthy, phytoestrogen-rich food. In fact, a particular type of yam (wild yam) is one of the most commonly-used herbs for female hormone balancing.
Bonus: Bustea
While not technically a food, many teas are also high in phytoestrogens. Check out your local health food store for fenugreek tea, fennel tea, or licorice tea.
Or if you’re feeling ambitious, try making Bustea. This recipe was originally shared by Dr. James A. Duke in his classic book, The Green Pharmacy. The tea is concocted of various “bust boosting” herbs, hence the name!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup fenugreek
- Dash each of anise, basil, caraway, fennel, marjoram, licorice, lemongrass, dill
Directions:
Combine the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. After it cools, add honey and lemon to taste. Dr. Duke recommends drinking 1-2 cups per day.
Note: Since Bustea is very high in phytoestrogens, I don’t recommend over-consuming it if you take prescription hormones. (Always speak with your doctor before combining herbs and hormones or other prescription meds.)
Love,
Lucille
P.S. Curious about using herbs for breast enhancement? Check out The Flat to Femme Program. This one-of-a-kind program reveals specific techniques for natural male to female breast enhancement.
Have been on fenugreek for years, not taking full dose because of
other medication, be careful taking fenugreek if you are diabetic-
it can counter your diabetic medication. Not quite filling a B-cup bra, would love C-cup. Just love wearing a bra now, I have to
buy women’s shirts now to accommodate the bumps.
Wild Yam cream very expensive here in Australia.
Be careful using red clover with blood thinning medication.
Have you used fenugreek alone without other herbs? How much time did it require to fill an A-cup Bra?
I really like your text. I was right: Carbohydrate really does masculinise us. I already knew about meat, all meat and I tell some of the transgendered women who cannot get by without eating meat, never eat pork…
But I will have to say that, anyways of what I read, oysters and most other fish meat have a lot of estrogens and progesterone and it would be better to eat them almost raw.
I eat one raw egg everyday or most of the days and somebody told me “Now, I know why you eat eggs! You have nice hair and you are feminizing yourself!” I think he was making a reference of what he heard on a documentary.
Anyways, I have being doing research about a feminizing diet.
Sorry, my link or website is actually another forum and it is in French. But the people who run it know how to speak and write English. My essay is in the presentation section but for this one you will need to become a member.
Thank you for your own research on this topic, Ms Sorella.
Sincerely, Reiko.
Thanks Reiko for your tip about pork.
I am diabetic, but I still need 2 or 3 feeds a week of
meat.
I apply progesterone cream twice a day. It is OTC from a pharmacist, 20mg/ml. Each application is from a measured dispenser, half on each breast.
More than anything else the progesterone is making my breasts fuller.
I am a senior male.
The start of my third week and I have now added GABA to my daily routine. I also started my first two stint on Progesterone cream.
Make that starting my first two week stint taking Progesterone cream!
Not all feminizing herbs increase estrogens or mimic them. Some inhibit or block the actions of androgens like testosterone. A great example is green tea, which increases levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). Now, why would increasing SHBG actually decrease testosterone? SHBG strongly binds to testosterone, meaning there is less free testosterone that can then enter the body’s tissues and be converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the more potent form of testosterone which is actually the one responsible for most male secondary sex characteristics. In fact, there’s growing evidence that green tea slows down thinning of hair and baldness both through this indirect feminizing effect and through the anti-inflammatory effects of EGCG, an polyphenol catechin which is a potent antioxidant. It’s also thought that the polyphenols in green tea increase circulation to skin, increasing the flow of nutrients to hair follicles and slowing their aging. For these reasons, green tea extracts are now being employed as adjuncts to hair loss treatments in men. Even if green tea’s feminizing effects may be less strong than other herbs, TGs should consider adding green tea, either in oral form or as a topical, to their regimen: after all, there’s no bigger giveaway than a balding head!
Zinc doesn’t just make testosterone…combined with b6 it actually makes progesterone which helps glandular breast growth and fullness…….make sure you know all the facts before giving people bad information…..this type of diet will cause estrogen dominance and breast/ovarian cancer, cysts, endo and the like…..as well as horrifi…bad periods and cramps…this is not sound advice…if you increase you estrogen you had better increase the progesterone as well….most women are hormone deficient because of low fat diets inhibit hormone production…..low carb, high protein/fat are more conducive toward proper hormone production…fenugreek is an excellent herb for fuller breasts combined with goats rue and fennel….especially in liquid form massage on breasts twice a day for at least 2 months…I grew a whole size and had much fuller breasts which stayed….
Hi Rachelle,
Thanks for your comment. I think there is some confusion, however, as this is a blog for (male to female) transgender women so bad periods and cramps aren’t a concern. 😉 Also, unlike synthetic estrogens, phytoestrogens have a hormone balancing effect and will actually lower estrogen levels if they are too high.
I agree that fenugreek is a great breast enhancement herb! I’m glad you had good results with it. You are also correct about progesterone helping with glandular growth and fullness. I cover both of these topics in my Flat to Femme ebook.
All the best,
Lucille
I`ve been drinking loads of soy milk,(at least 1 ltr a day) and been eating alot of ground flaxseed,( about 6 tablespoons a day) I can`t eat anymore because i`m bloated and full. I just want to see a slight difference in myself to know I`m going in right direction. I think I need to start taking Saw Palmetto to get things moving to suppress testosterone. I`ve got Rheumatoid Arthritis which means taking loads of medications so I`m reluctant to take supplements incase they interact with my medication. Just a little boob growth would be good. I suppose fenugreek and fennal wouldn`t hurt. Just don`t know. Has anybody else got boobs from soy and flaxseed?
Fenugreek can interfere with other medicines, so separate dosings of
each by 3 hours. May apply to other herbs, so same precaution for all would be wisest. It’s a good idea to take with some food (hey, how about soy milk?) to avoid possible indigestion.
I have got more knowledge about fem. My breast more increase than before.
