Is your height stopping you from confidently expressing your fabulous feminine self to the world? Well, it shouldn’t!
Sure, many crossdressers and transgender women tend to be taller than what’s considered “average” for females. But honestly, who cares?
Tall women are absolutely stunning!
However, if your aim is to play down your height a bit, there are some simple techniques that can help you achieve just that.
In this blog post for tall crossdressers and trans women, I share 4 easy ways to appear shorter.
1. Don’t Slouch
While you might be tempted to downplay your height by slouching, this is the first thing you’ll want to avoid.
Slouching isn’t attractive and it just makes it obvious that you’re not comfortable with your height.
So, resist the urge to slouch. Instead, stand tall! You’ll come across as confident and self-assured.
2. Wear the Right Shoes
If you want to appear shorter, it’s clear that you should avoid high heels. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re limited to flats!
Consider opting for shoes with a stylish kitten heel. A small heel adds elegance to your look without a significant height boost.
Additionally, these shoe styles can make your legs and feet appear shorter and smaller:
- Consider wearing shoes with straps over the instep or around the ankle. This helps break up the long line of your legs.
- Opt for shoes with rounded toes instead of pointy ones. This visually reduces the length of your feet.
3. Dress to Downplay Your Height
The clothes you wear have a huge impact on your overall appearance. Here are 5 dos and don’ts for downplaying your height:
- DO choose full skirts and dresses to draw the eye horizontally instead of vertically. (More width = less height.)
- DON’T wear super tight clothes. (Less width = more height.)
- DO wear a different color top and bottom to visually break up your figure.
- DON’T wear monochromatic outfits; this makes you look even taller.
- DO wear a contrasting belt to interrupt the eye from going straight up and down a long torso.
4. Choose the Right Hairstyle
The last thing to consider is your hair. The wrong hairstyle can make you look even taller, so here are 3 suggestions for avoiding unnecessary height:
- Avoid hairstyles with a lot of volume at the crown as this literally adds inches to your stature.
- Try a layered or wavy hairstyle that adds some volume around the sides of your face.
- Avoid wearing your hair too long since this tends to make you look even taller. Generally speaking, shoulder length hair is most flattering.
In conclusion
Don’t forget that tall women exude elegance, grace, and beauty! But if you’re still interested in downplaying your height, now you’ve got 4 simple tactics to try out.
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. If you’re a tall crossdresser or transgender woman, how do you personally embrace your height?

I pretty much have this one down, naturally. I’m 4’11½”, and even with my highest heels (5″ Kathy Van Zeeland platform stilettos), I’m still only 5’3″ at most. But in my case, I consider my height a blessing, because I love wearing high heels and I knew I was destined to wear them ever since I was 16, because right way, I had amazing balance. I can not only walk in high heels, but run and jump as well.
I am 5’8″ so I try not to wear too high of a heel. I have worn 4″ heels in the past and still have a few pair. We all know how girls are about shoes, right? The 4″ heels are hard to walk in for a period of time because of a past low back injury and can be painful to the low back, knees and ankles. Plus they just make me too tall and I do not want to be taller than the man I’m out with.
I can wear 3″ heels comfortably and do the most because with a thin sole sandal that only makes me 5’11” (the man I am currently dating is 6’1″) but if I am dating a shorter man I will wear even a lower heel and have shoes that have 1 or 2 inch heels.
My most common shoes are a strappy sandal with ankle strap, thin sole and 3″ heels. I love sandals because they show my painted toenails, which are always the same shade of red as my fingernails and the lipstick I usually wear and also show the toe welt of the stockings I’m wearing. I am a garters and hose girl.
My last marriage at my wedding as a bride I wore 4″ heels but my husband was 6’4″. Around the house I wear Maribou slippers with the feathered instep.

I am 6’3″ and I go out all the time. People look but I don’t think they think I’m a man, I think they stop to look at a tall woman. Most people will notice a tall woman and take a second look just as they would as if they saw a very tall man. I am confident in my appearance and I don’t care if people make me, I just love going out in public.
For statistics,
I am 163 centimètres and 55 kilos, most girls today are taller than me, especially asians girls.
Message to all, your height should not be a problem, Lucille has published a small essai stating to be vegetarian and read a bit on nutrition, it will give you ideas.
I agree, smaller heels look feminine and feel sexy. But I love a pair of black flats. I wear them the time, at home an when going out. I save my heels for later in the day. Flats & slacks and a belt look sexy together.
A small man is an average woman and a tall woman is an average man. I am not sure any of us should be labeled as average anyway. I think the illusion is about proportion and feeling comfortable enough in our bodies to allow our minds to present the beautiful person within. Great ideas Lucille and everyone it is always such a pleasure : ) Heels, high or low, make me stand much straighter, take shorter steps and improve my balance so I believe everyone should have a closet full : ) Best Wishes
my vote is for the orignal cat woman ie Julie Newmar hotter than a two dollar pistol
I am 5ft 7 inches and I weighs 115lbs. I think I am the right height. I never wanted to be taller.
